As the first of the baby boomers reach retirement age, the picture is not as rosy as we might have hoped.

After all, ours is the generation of promise, the one born of the optimism that emerged at the end of the Second World War. We came of age during a time of tremendous economic growth.

That was then. Now every day you can read about our retirement woes in nearly every major publication on the planet. Yes, we've been hit hard. For many baby boomers our retirement plans have been scrapped.
