January 2012 Archives

Prices go up and prices go down, but this year they're going every which way. While it's difficult to predict how the economy will impact the cost of products and services, there are several sure bets on both ends of the scale. Here are a few predictions.

GOING UP

Orange Juice
The FDA discovered "low levels" of a fungicide in the 2011 orange crop imported from Brazil, the world's largest produce of oranges.

Airfare
More people want to fly, but the airlines have trimmed their sales and are putting fewer planes in the air. Expect an increase between 3 percent and 10 percent worldwide.

Parking Rates and Tickets
Cash-strapped cities will try to boost their budgets by increasing city-imposed fees.

Gas
Did you enjoy that recent small reprieve from high gas prices? Well don't get used to it; the U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts regular gas will average $3.45 this year.

Groceries
Rising energy costs, poor weather conditions, commodity prices and the lousy value of the U.S. dollar mean food is expected to increase 2.5 percent to 3.5 percent from 2011, according to the Consumer Price Index.

Mobile Data Plans
Kiss that unlimited data plan goodbye. Carriers are building up LTE and 4G services, which means your rates will rise.

Desktop Computers
You want a touchscreen? Then you're going to have to pay a lot more for that luxury. The shortage of hard-drive materials, thanks to flooding in Thailand, is also a factor. Expect a boost of about 30 percent.

First-class Postage
Hopefully you stocked up on Forever Stamps before Jan. 22. The U.S. Post Service upped it's first-class postage prices last weekend to the tune of a one-penny increase for regular mail; a three-cent increase on postcards and a five- to seven-cent increase for international letters.

GOING DOWN

Natural Gas
According to CNN Money, homeowners can heat their homes this winter without breaking the bank. Natural gas prices are the lowest they've been in years and, thanks to increased production and less demand, should fall even further.

Apple iPad 2
The release of the iPad3 will bring down the price of this much-lusted-after tablet.

Retail Shipping
The $1.07 billion in retail business occasioned by Free Shipping Day 2011 and the continued success of sister site FreeShipping.org indicate this trend should stick around for some time to come.

Corn, Wheat and Soybeans
Food prices in general are expected to rise, but prices on these commodities have plunged of late, thanks to massive stockpiles.

Car Rentals
Agencies are experiencing an excess of stock and more competition, which means lower car-rental rates throughout the year.

E-book Readers
Succeeding generations and competitors for Amazon's Kindle have steadily reduced prices, sometimes by up to 60 percent.

Real Estate
Despite rock-bottom mortgage interest rates, the economy and unemployment will keep home prices at rock bottom, as well.

3D HDTVs
We'll see a influx of new 3D TVs in 2012, which means big discounts on last year's models.

GPS Units
Today's smart phones can do nearly everything these days except cook your breakfast. As a result, they're sending many competitors down the tubes, including stand-alone GPS units.

Wine
Wine Advocate publisher Robert Parker told Reuters the world is entering the "Age of the Buyer," during which we'll see stable or declining wine prices.

Baby Boomer-supreme Jane Fonda started it all with her slinky leotard and goofy leg warmers. The one-time workout fad soon became a way of life for a generation that plans on living longer and better. Aging has its disadvantages, however, including the inability to perform high-impact aerobics or scale mountains in several bounds.

And so was born an entire industry designed to keep Baby Boomers in shape without eliminating precious cartilage or boring us stiff. As added advantages, exercise also reduces our arthritic pain, depression and anxiety.

My personal mantra is "Pain means no gain," so I'm always looking for low-impact workouts that don't hurt my wallet. Fortunately, there always seems to be a new exercise trend designed specifically for my generation. Here are a few healthy yet money-saving tips I've learned on my journey to physical fitness (which isn't by any means complete).

1. Go It Alone
It takes discipline to maintain your own workout schedule, but joining an expensive health club isn't really a necessity. We tell ourselves paying for membership will force us to exercise, but the thinning crowds after January attest to the fallacy of this concept.

2. Bring It Home
More than 10 million Americans use elliptical trainers as they're a knee-friendly cross between cross-country skiing and stair climbing. An equal number prefer a reclining stationary bike, according to Charlene Laino of WebMD. Both machines reduce stress on joints while eliminating the aching-back syndrome.

Fortunately, a lot of people buy such equipment and then use them as expensive clothes hangers. That means you should never have to buy a new machine. Craigslist is just filled with ads for home exercise equipment and some dealers offer refurbished machines. The key is to give it a whirl before handing over your cash or you, too, might end up with a pricey coat rack.

If you don't already have an MP3 player, this should be your second investment. Nothing impels you through a home workout like hot tunes or an hour-long podcast of "Car Talk." You can find free shipping codes for Best Buy and other retailers on such sites as FreeShipping.org, allowing you to skip the stuffy retail outlet and avoid paying for delivery charges.

3. Stay Limber
Stress is not only the province of youth; nor is muscle elasticity. Yoga helps sooth frayed nerves, improves flexibility and, not incidentally, provides a great aerobic workout. Pilates has many of the same advantages, but without all that Nirvana stuff.

There are countless DVDs and CDs to lead you through these exercises at home, but it's important to be selective. You want an instructor who gives detailed instructions, like "keep your stomach flat," "push away from the floor," etc. You don't want to fall into sloppy habits as this can lead to strained muscles without the desired impact.

4. Get Outside
Recumbent road bikes are fairly expensive, but you can always pick up a traditional bike for cheap at garage sales, thrift stores, FreeCycle.org or the inevitable Craigslist. If you have shoulder or back problems, invest in high-rise handlebars and have a professional adjust the bike to your body shape and size.

Naturally this is a fair-weather exercise, but there's an added advantage in that you can save on gas by biking to work.

5. Walk It Off
It costs nothing to cruise the neighborhood, checking out houses for sale while listening to music that moves you. Walking regularly with a friend is a great motivator and maintaining a conversation while keeping a steady pace allows you to monitor the amount of exercise youe actually getting. An article in AARP reports overweight people who walk 30 minutes per day, five days per week, can reduce their risk of diabetes by nearly 60 percent.

For bad weather, a second-hand treadmill is a good investment and, according to the Mayo Clinic, exerts about the same force as an elliptical machine.

6. Pump It Up
My girlfriends and I used to play a garage sale game to see who could first spot a set of weights for sale. Even if you just add weights to your arms and legs when walking, you'll increase your body strength while getting a good cardio workout.

7. Mix and Match
Performing just one form of exercise won't ensure you stay fit. A full regimen combines strength, flexibility and balance training (the latter provided by yoga and Pilates). Mixing it up each day also keeps the doldrums away.

She has been featured in USA Today, Detroit News, New Orleans Times-Picayune, New Yorker magazine, "ABC World News," NBC's "TODAY" show and many other media outlets.

Today is Sunday 29th January 2012.   Julie and I went to St. Agnes K. Y. Tsao Catholic Church for the morning Mass at 8:15 a.m..   Immediately after the mass there was a brief ceremony celebrating today being the Man's Birthday  人日according to the Chinese New Year tradition.   Each person at the mass was given a red packet 紅封包and two mandarin oranges by the parish priest.

The seventh day of the Chinese New Year traditionally known as Rénrì
人日 is the birthday for every one on earth, the day when everyone grows one year older. In some overseas Chinese communities in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia and Singapore, it is also the day when tossed raw fish salad is eaten for continued wealth and prosperity. For many Chinese Buddhists, this is another day for veggies and avoid meat.

golden court restaurant.JPG

We left the church at around 9:45 a.m.  Julie and I joined some friends we met in the church for dim sum at Golden Court Abalone Restaurant 黃金閣When we arrived there it was around 10:05 a.m., we ordered some dim sum, dumpllings e.g. beef balls, chopped pork rib, shrimp rolls, rice noodle rolls, congee with dried oysters & seaweeds   and ground meat with steamed rice.    It was a big day at 黃金閣 Restaurant as more and more people came and packed the restaurant full house.    They all came to celebrate the Chinese New Year ... the Year of The Dragon.

As the Chinese New Year atmosphere elevated  in the restaurant,  the first VIP came.  He is the God of Prosperity財神 .   He came in his traditional costume in  shiny glow red and gold colors, fully dressed up with hat and boots the old fashion way.   He mingled with the audience and talked with them giving out red packets for every body he met.

scan0022.jpgThe atmosphere was brought to the climax when a team of kungfu youngsters and lion dancers came in starting the traditional lion dancing.   There were several lions in different colors and different sizes... red, gold, yellow, pink, green, blue. big, medium and small  The dancers with the backup drum and gongs danced out their best for the reward of applause and lai se (red packet of  money).  People loved the lion dancing which brought back memories associated with our Chinese New Yea back in those years when we were young.   It was a great day with friends, good food and sweet memories.

JCPenney recently announced a permanent markdown of at least 40 percent on all it's merchandise - a preemptive move to introduce a tiered strategy of ongoing promotions to offer consumers more value.

Wouldn't it be nice if all department stores followed suit? Since it's likely they won't, now is a good time to brush up on your department-store shopping skills with these seven tips to save at your favorite stores.

1. Befriend Sales Associates
Though your knee-jerk reaction to eager salespeople may be "I'm just looking," consider taking them up on their offer to serve you. Better yet, seek them out every time you shop the store. Building a rapport with a sales associate leads to the inside-track on upcoming sales and yields better customer service.

2. Get Smart
Retailers are making it easy to stay informed about upcoming sales, thanks to e-mail alerts and Facebook updates. But how often have you left a coupon at home or failed to print it from your inbox? Mobile coupons to the rescue! Tools like the Coupon Sherpa mobile app give you access to mobile coupons to use in-store. Just pull up the offer and hand your smartphone to the cashier. Phew!

3. Shop Thursdays
While online shopping experiences a spike in sales on Mondays, department stores often mark down clothing on Thursdays in anticipation of weekend shoppers. Save your Saturday for lunch with the girls and a matinee, and turn Thursday afternoon into a savvy shopping day. For more tips on the best times of the week to shop, consult SmartMoney's guide.

4. Retain Receipts
In an effort to de-clutter our cars, purses and file cabinets, receipts are often tossed immediately after a purchase. However, it's a good idea to hang onto receipts for up to 30 days should the item you bought receive a price reduction. Keeping tabs on an item you've already purchased can score you unexpected savings.

5. Gift Yourself (and Your Wallet)
If you're anything like me, you've already burned through those gifts cards you received over the holidays. Nothing compares to spending someone else's money on something you want, but using a discount gift cards comes pretty close. Save up to 35 percent instantly when you buy gift cards at less than face value from such sites as GiftCardGranny.

6. Shop Seasonal Sales
This one's a no-brainer but with "80-percent off" promotions cluttering my inbox, I'd be remiss not to mention it. Shopping for winter clothing as retailers gear up for the spring and summer fashions will land you great deals on warm clothing to wear both now and after beach season is a distant memory.

7. Reward Yourself
Most credit cards have a rewards program, so take a look at your account to determine if you can redeem points for gift cards. If you have the budget and are disciplined enough to pay off your credit card every month, you might consider charging everyday expenses on your card to increase those reward points and pay for "fun" stuff with earned points. If you're credit card doesn't earn points, check out this list from CreditCards.com to find ones that do.

The Online Business Giants

Every year billions of dollars get spent online via Amazon, Walmart, Dell, Target, Apple, Google, eBay, HP, IBM, Addidas, Nike, etc,  the list goes on!   A new software launched on 24th January 2012 allows you to ethically claim a piece of this ebusiness.  . How? This free video shows you how it works, and why it's easier than you'd ever imagine:

Beta Version of Selected Group

A select group of people have had access to
this new internet marketing software ...  Affiliate Cash Snipers for a few months already, and they are making cash with it.   It makes a big Bang among the internet marketers.

Affiliate Cash Snipers (version 1)
It was launched on 24th January 2012.  If you are just getting started,  then this is perfect for you. This breakthrough software is so easy that you do NOT need any experience or technical knowledge.  It's point-and-click easy.   Imagine making a few mouse clicks and then raking in thousands of dollars a month for doing almost ZERO work.
Affiliate Cash Snipers is perfectly doable.

How many times have you and your friends ordered something from Amazon?
Wouldn't it be great to get a commission on every one of those purchases, even the high end stuff like HD televisions?   Now you can, and the software does all the hard work.

What You Can Do ...
Seriously, you can knock yourself out promoting the latest ebook on ClickBank.
Or you can work yourself to your limit to create gorgeous membership sites, or your own digital products.  But why in the world would you do that when you can use this instead, and live the life you want?

Affiliate Cash Snipers
This new affiliate marketing software is already taking people from spinning their wheels in frustration, to building income streams that NEVER STOP.  Even better, this has built-in capability to make income in multiple ways from the very same buyers.

P.S.
Check out the blue 'snipers' which I have set up on the sidebar of this blog. Go there to find the favorite software for your home or office.   Check out the latest video games for your kids and/or yourselves.   The new 'snipers' help the shoppers to find exactly what they are looking for here on the blog, then click through to the retailer, e.g. Amazon  ... select and buy the product ...   I will get an affiliate commission when they ultimately buy.

This is important ...
a new breakthrough for affiliate marketers!

The  snipers (software) does not send visitors to the homepage of the internet retails sites.  Instead, they send shoppers to the specific page on a retial site that perfectly matches the criteria they selected.

That means they get to choose things like brand, price range, and more , then see exactly what they were searching for. In other words, the visitors now get opportunity to buy products with the precise features they want.

Check it out and let me know your opinion via the comment section of this blog.  Have a good weekend and Sunday.

P.P.S.
I am working on this new software (Affiliate Cash Snipers) which I purchased at discount price CAD39.45 only.  Regular price is US$47.  You too can enjoy the discount.   Check it out and don't miss the US$10 discount while visiting the site!  Now I have to dig deeper so that I can write an unbiased and detailed review on it for my readers.  Hopefully,  I shall have it ready soon for you,  latest will be by the end of next week.

In days of old -- before marketers wised up -- most television advertising was targeted towards the overvalued 18- to 35-year-old demographic. Then statistics revealed Baby Boomers have more discretionary income than any other age group and control 75 percent ($7 trillion) of the total American households' net worth.

Even in a recession, Boomers account for a dramatic 40 percent of total consumer demand, and they're demanding attention be paid.

Marketing clearly needed a makeover, and present ads reflect that change. L'Oreal hired Diane Keaton to talk about how "We're still worth it." Grey-haired and gorgeous John Slattery of "Mad Men" is hawking the Lincoln MKX. Disneyland is targeting the demographic that often pays for such expensive vacations by showing three generations enjoying the house that Mickey Mouse built. Then, naturally, there are all the erectile-dysfunction ads featuring virile and happy Baby Boomers leading uncompromising lives.

The trick is to strike the right note in television advertising. Boomers don't want to be stereotyped or treated with an ageist attitude, according to Brent Green, president of Denver-based marketing consultancy Brent Green & Associates.

"They want validity," said Green. "Few are frivolous or impulsive in their buying choices; rather, they are deliberate with a seasoned sense of themselves. They're set to shatter traditional assumptions about the sixth and seventh decades of life."

The generation born between 1946 and 1955 also appreciates a humorous approach and a harkening back to familiar imagery from a shared history.

Advertisers are already unveiling Super Bowl ads that take these factors into consideration:

  • Volkswagen has gone viral with "The Bark Side," featuring dogs giving a "ruff" treatment to Darth Vader's theme song.
  • Lipton is digging into the "Star Wars" archive as well, promoting their Brisk soda with a humorous version of the ultimate laser battle between Yoda and Darth Maul.
  • Kia's "Drive the Dream" prominently features hair band Motley Crew.

Considering this year's Super Bowl ads are going for an average of $3.5 million per 30 seconds, marketers are smart to play into this valuable demographic.

"(Boomers) go about fulfilling their needs differently, making their purchasing behavior unique," according to Immersion Interactive's book "Dot Boom: Marketing to Baby Boomers Through Meaningful Online Engagement."

"Dot Boom" also discusses the promise that online marketing to Baby Boomers holds. The recent popularity of Free Shipping Day, evidenced by $1.07 billion in sales, and the website FreeShipping.org, serve as exhibits one and two. Despite their affluence, Boomers value savings over brand loyalty when they shop the Internet.

Despite the over-sexed Super Bowl ads of the online company Go Daddy, other dot-commers are expected to take a more mature viewpoint.

Apple clearly was ahead of the trend with their "1984" ad, aired only once during the Super Bowl game of 1984. The iconic advertisement featured a Baby Boomer athlete shattering an image of Big Brother, referencing the generation's individualistic and athletic tendencies, as well as a book read by millions back in their high school days.

If your primary occupation over the last few months (or years) required more bedtimes than deadlines, you're not alone. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, an estimated 5 million women classified themselves as stay-at-home moms in 2010. Yet, that figure is down from just two years earlier as more mothers return to the workforce.

For any mom taking on new 9 to 5 with duties that go beyond diapers and dinner, your wardrobe will likely need a makeover. However, sprucing up your business style doesn't have to drain your kids' college funds nor limit your options.

Here are 8 tips to help you update your wardrobe with fashionable work-wear on a budget.

1. Scope Out Consignment Stores
Back when you were expecting, consignment shops were goldmines for inexpensive maternity wear. Lucky for you, they're also a great resource for professional attire. Sell some of your gently-used maternity wear and stock up on business basics including blazers, slacks and pencil skirts. For tips on navigating consignment racks, check out this article from Woman's Day.

2. Shop for Shoes Online
Ultimately, footwear is one of the most important parts of a professional wardrobe. Despite the sheer joy of finding that perfect pair of black-patent pumps, shopping with a toddler is often a trying experience. Avoid the department-store drama and shop online at e-retailers like Endless or Piperlime, who offer free shipping both ways. Alternatively, find free shipping codes for Macy's and other popular retailers from sites like FreeShipping.org to avoid delivery charges.

3. Think Simplicity
You obviously can't afford a series of tailor-made suits, but you can afford a few simple pieces you can dress up or down, as the situation requires. Button-up blouses are a must and can be found on the cheap at Target, Old Navy and other discount retailers. And don't forget cardigans - find a few in your most flattering colors to wear all year long.

4. Avoid Trendy
Keeping up the trends is expensive and you'll often end up with a closet full of unwearable items from last scene. Go for the classics and use accessories to showcase your inner trendsetter -- think freshwater pearls, stud earrings and a tangerine handbag. For more inspiration, consult the 12 Jewelry Trends for 2012 from JCK Magazine.

5. Keep it Clean
Cleanliness is next to godliness, or at least next to a good first impression. No matter the quality or cost of your clothes, it's vital they remain clean and pressed at all times. You can reduce dry cleaning costs by avoiding such items altogether or using the home-laundry packets readily available at your grocery store.

6. Gauge the Office Culture
You'll feel really uncomfortable in a formal suit if the business owner is sporting jeans and a graphic tee. Many younger entrepreneurs encourage a more relaxed look, so it pays to gauge the office culture before heading into an interview. If the company website doesn't yield any insight, talk to the hiring manager about the office dress code when you schedule the interview.

7. When in Doubt, LBD
The last thing you want to deal with during a job interview is insecurity over your appearance. If you're struggling over what to wear, keep it simple with a little black dress. This versatile piece can be paired with a blazer and smart pumps for corporate cultures, or with a bright cardigan and layered necklace for more casual environments.

8. Swap Your Maternity Clothes
If you have friends or family members who recently announced they're expecting, it's time to dust off your maternity clothes and consider a swap. Ask the new mom to be if she has any business attire that she would be willing to exchange for your pregnancy wear.

Attention all snail-mailers: the cost of postage just went up.

Effective Jan. 22, a first-class stamp costs $0.45, requiring non-Forever Stamp holders to stock up on festive Navajo necklace "make-up" stamps. This represents the first postage-rate increase in over two years and comes amidst a labor dispute between the U.S. Postal Service and over 240,000 workers.

Though postage rates continue to increase, online shopping trends toward free shipping as consumer demand drives retailers to forfeit delivery charges. Just last year, L.L. Bean and Nordstrom announced free shipping on all orders all the time. Similarly, Best Buy and Overstock offered free shipping with no minimums over the holiday season. And over 2,000 retailers offered some form of the promotion during Free Shipping Day, generating over $1 billion in online sales.

Still, some retailers will avoid offering free shipping all the time, enjoying the one-time boost in sales that intermittent promotions provide. For example, a Lands' End free shipping promotion is good through the end of this week, driving shoppers to get their orders in before the deadline.

Save Money With Coupons
Using coupons for every day purchases has become not only a trend.  It becomes a culture in North America.  Most of the people I know in my communities and church use coupons when shopping for groceries, household items as well as health-care products at supermarkets. It helps  saving some money on the grocery and household bills.   As utilities prices are getting higher and food prices becoming more expensive than previous years, coupon savings becomes a common practice among every consumer.  Using coupons for necessary purchases not only saves you money,  the coupon clipping exercise  helps people make more educated purchasing decisions. You can find online and printable coupons for thousands of stores on CouponChief.com
couponchief 2.jpg

Online Coupons
There are a plenty of websites that can help you find the best deals to let you shop in the comfort zone of your home.   Shopping online becomes a norm especially among the younger generations.   Coupons generate billions of  dollars in transactions within the North America.  Today, more than 700 corporations offer coupon discounts. Each year, with  internet technology,  market information are readily available with your iPhone or Blackberry at the touch of your fingers.   With the click of the buy-button the purchase is done while you are on the road.  Today,  the best  coupons have shifted online with Amazon, BestBuy and Dell leading the pack. My favorite is Amazon.

Traditional Coupons
There are still plenty traditional coupons from fliers, magazines, newspapers, etc.  The online coupons are so user-friendly designed that they are easy and simple to use.  With the search box at the header of the website people can easily find  coupon codes for your favorite brands,  e.g. Target,  HP,  Samsung,  Nikon, Cannon, Dell, and other popular brands.  People can also find their required  information by using the popular tags or the A-Z  brands list when searching for a coupon

Haggling
When  you buy big ticket items, don't shy away from doing your marketing research online and using the coupons online.  Remember to haggle for the best discount when you are talking with the salesman.  Most items would include a certain amount of  mark-up, and most store managers would rather sacrifice a few dollars than lose the sale altogether.

Clipping Coupons - Consumers & Small Businesses
Clipping coupons dated back decades ago.   Today people from different walks of life have to save more money to cope with the rising cost of living through the same clipping coupons.   This saving practice spread further to small businesses.  Small business people bought all their stuff with coupons, e.g. office equipment  such as computers and printers , office supplies  at Staples and Office Depot,  office furniture for chairs, lamps, electronic devices  and appliances e.g.monitors, surge  protectors, fridge, microwave oven as well as flight and travel expenses.  Do you use coupons to save money for your home or your small business or online business? Do you offer coupons to your customers?  Check it out Coupon Chief 's Stores.    It is one of the fastest growing coupon sites, with over 250k visitors per month.  They have over  50k coupons for over 15000 stores, possibly the largest databases of online coupons within today 's  internet network.

superbowl.jpg

With Super Bowl XLVI just two weeks away, fans are starting to make plans for one of the best parties of the year. Anticipation for the big game doesn't only surround the battle for supremacy between the NFC and AFC, but also the chance to consume large quantities of French onion dip and other salty snacks. This privilege is afforded just a few times a year, so it's worth making the most of it.

Football fans -- both fanatic and fair-weather -- aren't the only ones gearing up for Super Bowl Sunday. Grocery stores in particular view the event as an opportunity to mark up party must-haves, and with at-home food prices on the rise, it's especially important to shop smart. To keep your pigskin party from breaking the budget, try these six strategies for saving on a winning Super Bowl spread.

1. Chips
White or yellow corn? Original or wavy? Kettle or baked? There are more tortilla and potato-chip options than there are teams in the whole NFL. Even die-hard Tostitos fans should give store-brand options a try. These generic chips are often taste just as good and are quite a bit cheaper. At the very least, compare prices of competing brands before reaching for your go-to.

2. Chicken Wings
It shouldn't be surprising that the price of chicken wings tends to skyrocket around the Super Bowl. No party is complete without this sports-viewing staple. Avoid paying through the teeth by stocking up on frozen wings weeks in advance. Costs can be further reduced if you buy gift cards for your local supermarket at a discount from sites like GiftCardGranny. Shopping for party supplies this way will save as much as 35 percent over cash or credit.

3. Taters
What are wings without french fries to sop up excess hot sauce and Ranch dip? While frozen frites are the easy way to go, both your budget and taste buds will benefit from homemade potato skins. It doesn't get much cheaper than a big bag of potatoes, and toppings can be as simple as cheese and salsa.

4. Veggies
Avoid the temptation to buy a prepackaged tray of veggies; you're only paying for convenience and presentation. Those two features are easily attainable with a sharp knife and a big plate. Pick up a few fresh items that are easy to prepare such as carrots, peppers, celery and snap peas, and arrange them around a sumptuous bowl of dip. Since you choose what stays and what goes you'll never get stuck with a pile of leftover cauliflower.

5. Dips
Just like veggies, you can get more bang for your dipping buck by going the homemade route. Ranch and French dips require no more than a package of seasoning and some sour cream. Guacamole is as simple as coarsely chopped avocado with garlic salt and lemon juice. If you consider yourself a true dip aficionado and are looking for something more advanced, check out these tasty recipes from The Huffington Post.

6. Drinks
Liquor stores are a madhouse during the days leading up to the game, so consider stocking up on your favorite liquid provisions a week out. Hit up Costco and Sam's Club for up to 30-percent off grocery store prices. Keg beer is another money-saving staple for big parties. Better yet, make it a BYOB event.

Hi, David,

Getting ranked on the first page of Google use to be a very,
very difficult task. Almost impossible for the average online
entrepreneur.

BUT... things have changed online in the last few years, and
the game is wide open.

Listen up David...Today I want to show you exactly
how you can get your self positioned on the first page of
Google and the other top search engines.

There's several different strategies you can use, but they
all come down to THREE basic principles.

STEP #1: Keyword Research

It all starts with keyword research. You need to decide which
specific keyword phrases you want to compete for. And better
yet you want to know if you stand a chance at winning.

This is where the importance of proper keyword research
comes in. You will waste a lot of time and effort without
the proper research.

So, to make this easy for you, we've put together some
really great training videos that explain exactly how to
do this. Have a look under STRATGEY #8 Content & Article
marketing. You will find the videos on Keyword Research.

STEP #2: Create your CONTENT

You can create articles, blog posts, squidoo lenses, hubpages,
or videos. They idea here is to create good, quality content
that will get read or watched.

Now you take the list of keyword phrases that you have chosen
from your research and create the content around these phrases.

Use the keyword phrase in the title, in the description and
in the body of the content. Nothing complicated here folks.

STEP #3: Distribute your CONTENT

Now that you have your content, all you need to do is get it
out on to the world wide web. Post your articles in several
article directories, create a squidoo lens, a hubpage,
on your blogs, or use the content in forums.

With videos distribute them to several video sharing sites
and post them on your blogs.

Happy and Healthy Year of Dragon.
恭喜大家龍年 心想事成 身體健康 新年進步

year of the dreagon 2012.jpg
During the year, most of us have bought some items from the big department stores and supermarkets. The selling prices at which these products sold would cover the following:

  • Manufacturing cost
  • Advertising cost
  • Distribution cost

A product of $10 at cost can easily marked up to $100. You pay $100 to those big companies. Your money is gone as expenses. This is the traditional daily purchase.

Is there a better way for your daily purchase?

Yes, there is a way:

First you acquire an IBO number (computer number) by becoming Independent Business Owner of Amway Global.  It has over 10,000 brand name products and over 500 exclusive patent and patent pending brands.

With this IBO number now you can purchase at doubel digit discount (about 30+%) for personal use.

  • You can retail for profit if you wish.
  • You can grow this business by developing more active IBO.
  • Your purchases from Amway Global earn PV (point value) for you. They are credited back to your IBO account.

In this way , you convert your household expenses to become your savings. Over time these savings become your household equity. Walmart, Sears, Bay, Canadian Tire and other big companies would not give you money this way. What you spent there are gone.

They only thank you for your purchases.

Does this new buying concept make sense to you?  Yes, it does. It can make you better off and even change your life. This IBO number would turn your household expenses into savings at home.

Moreover, it is profitable business which starts at your home, your community, your city, then across your country and all over the world.

How to get started?

The best way to get started is to use some basic household products
for yourself.  Somethings like tooth paste, bodywash, supplements, vitamins.
Use some products, then you know these products.  The next step is to sell
some of these products which you like and familiar with.  Sell them at the
suggested retail price and get the profit.  As you use more products and sell
more products, you can recruit some people.  Help these new people and train these people with your upline helping you.  It is duplication.  remember the power of duplication.  In this way, you are expanding your business as the number of IBO joining your team increases.   In short, you use the products to know them. You sell some products at a profit (about 29%).  You get performance bonus (3-25%) for the sales you have done.  Then, later on, when you successfully built your sales team, you would get the leadership bonus (4%).  There are altogether 10 different bonuses.

AMWAY

  • amway.jpgA  well established Global Business
  • Selling over thousands of quality products
  • All renowned brands.

  • More than 3 million people are already working on their path to success.
  • Over 50 years of experience & compassion
  • A global community ready to offer support, and a premier compensation plan

It is most important to brand yourself when
brand.jpgyou start any business online and offline.   In today lifestyle people live in the world brands.  It is there in every category of businesses and industries ... from hardware to software... from food to beverages, from bathroom to bedroom products.    Branding is the indispensable ingredient in today's commercial world ... In Modern term it is the X Factor of Success.

brand yourself.jpgBranding  or the  X factor is an instinct built in people.   As we live life we are doing a little bit branding of ourselves.   A slow and steady process that moves on without ourselves noticing it.     Your true self comprised of body and soul is your brand.    Each one of us has manage our body's vital physiological system being the CEO of our own body.   You and me as the CEO of ourselves ...  the whole body with its various vital systems. It is when we are doing our job well then this 'body' 's well being is good,  We often heard people say treat your body nice, your body will be nice to you.  It is a simple fact of life.

This simple principle also applies in the situation of building an online business.   The big names, the gurus and the big guys out there all have their brands.  This is the direction to start the business.   You are advised to choose your brand and position yourself in the niche market that best suit you.  There are plenty of niches in the marketplace for us to choose.  To work hard is essential ... to work smart is important.  Newbies must work both hard and smart to be successful.   We should always avoid competing head-on with the big guys.    In this smart way,  the effort and the money incurred would be more cost effective and well spent.

The next step is how to brand our business?   At this point of time, I remember a very famous guru said, tell the truth is the best marketing strategy.  Tell your story and share it with people.    I totally agree on this point.    Truth will remain unchanged.

Along the following line of thought:

  • Think about yourself
  • Think about what makes you unique
  • Think about what is you most important value
  • Think about what you can share with other people
  • Think about what you want to share with other people
  • Think about what you want people to remember you
  • Think about you can make your inner self bigger than your life

Now, base on the above write down in one brief sentence 'your 'Brand Statement'.          You can find mine in the header of my blog .....

'empower people to e-Business earning extra money & network together online for success & financial freedom'

With your brand,  you are building your foundation ...the first brick, then the next brick...  this building process goes on building up the business, the credibility, the connection, the trust and relationship.  Your brand will differentiate you from the rest of people in the competitive business. By the way,  as we grow we change.  Similarly, our brand would change over time.  It is important to remember to keep it in line with your inner entrepreneur  which is to be truthful to yourself.   Adjustment of brand and market position is practical and essential  in the ever changing competitive  marketplace.

There's a big difference between investments and expenses. An investment implies you expect to get some return on your money, while an expense is money you spend and never plan to see again.

Despite the vast difference in money-use methodologies, shoppers tend to get their terminology mixed up. "Investing" in an LCD TV or Blu-Ray player is a misnomer. Just like a new car, these items lose value as soon as you take them for a spin. Though most consumers are already aware of this detail, it doesn't seem to slow their interest when it comes to electronics. The Consumer Electronics Association projects more than $1 trillion in such spending this year, an increase of 5 percent from 2011.

With the Consumer Electronics Show wrapping up last week, tech fanatics everywhere have an itch for the next big thing. If you plan on scratching it, use these tips to help defeat depreciation.

1. Use the News
Nothing kills the excitement of a brand new gadget like discovering a price drop days after you've opened the box. In fact, many holiday shoppers are suffering through this exact scenario, thanks to a recent $100 price drop in several popular tablets. Avoid getting stuck in this predicament by tracking the news on products you're planning to buy. Big cuts are usually announced in advance to help stimulate sales.

2. Read Reviews
User reviews are a great place to start your electronics education. They'll help identify common problems so you can steer clear of troublesome products. Poorly reviewed items are usually the first to plummet in value, since manufacturers need to unload such inventory to make room for new, higher-quality products.

3. Cut the Initial Cost
There's no secret formula to preserving value, but there are plenty of ways to cut the initial costs. Find coupon codes for Dell, Newegg and other popular retailers on such sites as CouponSherpa. When making high-dollar buys, don't shy away from haggling, either. Most items include a certain amount of mark-up, and most managers would rather sacrifice a few dollars than lose the sale altogether. Just make sure you're prepared to buy, if they meet your price.

4. Protect What You've Got
You don't have to coddle your iPad like a newborn, but keeping it protected pays off in the long run. Simple actions like adding a screen protector and case ensures a longer, healthier life for your gadget. It also helps preserve any resale value you hope to get in the future. Don't bother buying brand-name, though. Quality cases, cables and covers are abundantly available online for a fraction of the price.

5. Quality Matters
Though low price-tags can tempt even the most careful consumer, it's best to avoid the cheapest of the cheap. Simple logic should tell you there's a good reason for an item being priced $100 less than its closest counterpart. When you're already laying out a good chunk of change, it's often worth spending a little more for quality. A Forbes.com article notes that Apple products tend to retain their value best, in comparison to other computers and electronics.

6. Wait it Out
At some point you have to put a price-tag on bragging rights. Is making your friends green with envy over your 3D HDTV really worth a few hundred dollars? Electronics are never at a higher price than when they're brand new. Ignore the hype on new releases and give yourself an extra six months before buying. While the waiting seems interminable, you'll get a good understanding of the item's quality and can still keep an eye out for special offers and sales.

7. The Old Switcheroo
One of the best ways to enhance the value of your electronics is making a trade. Your two-year-old HDTV is as good as trash to a major retailer, but someone just upgrading from tube technology would consider it a treasure. Using sites like Swap.com or even Craigslist to trade unwanted items lets you assign your own value and keeps unnecessary waste out of landfills.

8. Beware of Buyback
Many popular merchants now offer buyback programs promoting value preservation for customers. However, some of these programs are quite counterproductive and come with many restrictions. For example, the maximum possible payout from Best Buy's Program is only 50 percent, and that's within the first six months. The retailer's program also requires you pay a fee to participate and discretionary details, like product condition, can significantly detract from the resale value. When considering a buyback program, look for one that doesn't cost extra and provides payment in cash, not just store credit.

In my previous post I explained briefly what is attraction marketing.  To illustrate this very important point I use here a true story how Ann Sieg stumbled upon her textbook example of attraction marketing.  .

Quote:
When I was with one of my former companies.  there were lots of meetings to go to.  There were Tuesday and Thursday night hotel meetings, multiple home meetings on various nights of the week,  and usually a training at someone's house on Saturday.

I went to all of them.  It was my life.

But the most important ones were the big monthly state trainings.  There were usually 500 more more people at these weekend conferences and this is where they would hand out awards and recognize all the latest achievements.

The part I looked forward to the most though is when the guest speaker would get up and talk.  Every month the company would fly in a new distributor from out of town to teach us their particular system they were using to build their business.

Most of them were pretty much all the same.  There was lots of goal setting and mindset tricks.  ..they talked about how to meet new people and expand your sphere of influence {the referral technique, buying clothes at department stores and then returning them in order to prospect the same clerk.) .. how to introduce your product or opportunity into a conversation ( F.O.R. M. - family occupation, recreation, money)

Some of them even liked to dance around on stage to music.

But one month there was a particular speaker that I will never forget.  This one was different.

She didn't get all worked up and yell or try to motivate us.  She was very professional and she presented a system for retailing our company's products that I had never heard anyone talk about before.  For once, this seemed like a real, legitimate approach to building my network marketing business.  It was something I could easily see myself doing.

She called it a "Health Awareness Seminar"'

And all it was simply an educational class that showed people how to start improving their health and their diet right now - without having to buy anything.

First she talked about a few of the body's different systems and how they worked.  Then she gave a visual demonstration of the digestive system using a nylon stocking to represent the colon.

health awareness seminar ann sieg.jpgWith an apron and some latex gloves on, she began cramming the average American diet into the "large intestine" hamburgers, fries, a can of Dirty Moore, a jelly donut .. even some Coke and a milkshake.  Almost immediately the stocking began to clog up as the food clumped together and stuck to the sides.  It looked like a boa constrictor that had just swallowed an animal three times its own width,  In order to get it to pass through she had to constantly work it and knead it with her hands.

It Wasn't a pretty picture - enough to scare anyone into giving up fast food forever,  And a lot of people did.

Then she started over with a brand-new , fresh stocking (if only it was that easy, right?0  This time she begin dumping apple slices, grapes, pineapple chunks, carrots, celery ad all kinds of other fruits and vegetables down the tube.  They all slid right through without a single hangup.

This was total different than the usual products shows we were taught to do where all we did was talk about how great our stuff was.  Even the name "Health Awareness Seminar" was not intimidating and made it sound like you were going to get a lot out of it no matter what.

At the end of her presentation, she simply mentioned the products we had that could help with some of these issues, like improving digestion.  Te rest was pitch-free, high quality information.

Throughout her whole talk my pen was a blur on my notebook.  I knew this was something I could do too.  And I knew I would enjoy doing it because I wasn't pushy by nature and I liked helping people.

Most importantly I knew I would learn a lot by doing it.  That was my goal.  Robert Kiyosaki, the person I consider to be more responsible for my financial freedom than anyone else, said in his book.  'Rich Dad Poor Dad' "don't do anything for the money you will make, but instead for the skills you will learn"  This was turned out to be the most valuable advice I  've ever received.

So I went home and began preparing my presentation right away, I did some extra research into the health issues I was going to be talking about and I practiced the whole thing until it felt natural.  I was a little nervous about someone  asking me a question that I wouldn't know the answer to , but I knew if other people could do this , so could I.

As soon as I was ready, I scheduled my first health awareness seminar at the house of of one of my downline members.

Three people showed up.

I knew it just happened to be a bad night  though and that this would still work.  so I setup another one for the following week.

This time was a lot better.  There were about ten people there and I sold a couple hundred dollars worth of product.

Up until this point I had been selling a few bottles of stuff per month, so I was pumped about selling that same amount in one night.

But the best part was everyone loved it.  The "colon demonstration" was a big hit and people came up to me afterwards and thanked me for how incredibly helpful my information was.  There was no pressure, I hardly talked about my products at all and I didn't even ask anyone to buy!

Word started getting out.

People loved the information so much that guests were telling their friends about it and they were coming back each time with new guests of their own, and they weren't even in the business!

The audience kept getting bigger and bigger each time and I was taking more and more orders.

After the presentation they wold stick around and wait to ask me questions about all kinds of different health issues they had, even ones I hadn't talked about.

Many times I would have 8 - 10 people stand up and get in line to talk with me!

Unquote

My friends, this story is abstract from Ann Sieg Manifesto which is free.  I hope you enjoy this textbook example and benefit from it.

Recommendations:
The best DIY  leads generator is the quality content you wrote for your blog.  Content should always be  original enriched with quality information in SEO format. e.g.:

  •   have H1 tag containing your keyword Thumbnail image for content is king.jpg
  •   have H2 tag containing your keyword
  •   have H3 tag containing your keyword
  •   bold your keyword
  •   have enough keywords to italize
  •   have enough keywords to underline
  •    have ALT tag set to your keyword
  •    have an internal link to your other pages.

Automated contents from sub-directories are waste of effort and time for bloggers who blog for a living.  Google search engine, its network and the whole Google support team are working intelligently and diligently on it.  They can detect your content and find out if they are automated stuff.  They would simply ignore stuff of this category.  Let me tell you,  I had used this 'copy and paste method' for ready content from sub-directories.  I had also used WP plugin for automated content which seems working perfectly on scheduled time and date.   All these are waste of time and effort.  So, my advice to you if you are thinking of buying some robotic tools or software to do the content for you check it twice before you spend the money.   In case you really want to use such content it is always a good practice to re-write them and re-arrange the paragraphs.

When you produce good and original content, people like them and will link to you from their blogs or websites.  They would refer others to you simply because of the quality content.  You don't have to ask them and pay them to do it.  Some may even publish your content in their blogs or newsletters. They may even quote your name in their content.  In a very much similar way, the Google search engine would treat your blog the same way.

I am delighted to tell you that I  was quoted sometimes  by others in their blog
because of the useful content.    It gives me free exposure to their entire audience.  As a result they will probably end up with a steady little stream of sales and free leads.  It will last  for a long long time to come due to people reading my blog  and then going and checking them out on the internet.

Remember when you create good content you become a 'rallying point' for people who need help.   You would get a lot of the customers and leads of those who do nothing but pitch their prospects and don't provide them with any real value.

If you are just your average run of the mill distributor and you don't own any of your own content,  your basically working for those do who.  For example,  I you use an article from Ezinearticles  for your blog post, the credit would go to the author of the original article.   It is no fun if you are on the losing side of this equation.   This is the reality of how things work and it is never going to change.  Why not do yourself a favor so that you might as well be the one on  the receiving end.

The value of quality content to your blog  is priceless.  Every piece of content you produce is going to continue pumping fresh new customers and leads into your business months and even years after you produced them.

His latest status was reported in the Yahoo news this afternoon as I checked into Yahoo for the incoming emails.  It is a happy moment bringing in a new breath of fresh air to the world of turmoil as people see Ted doing  well lately.  His new endeavor with the help of some nice people has brought him back to his feet living a healthy and happy life. From his story we can see people helping people would change everything.   The world becomes a place of love and joy.

First and Only Cellular-based Locator System Takes the 'Search' out of Search and Rescue to Save Lives and Provide Peace of Mind to Caregivers

Frisco, TX --For caregivers of Alzheimer's and dementia patients or children with autism, the fear of their loved one wandering away and becoming lost is ever-present. Unable to find their way home or function well independently, impaired individuals are at grave risk of injury--or even death--due to exposure to the elements or hazards they may encounter while wandering.

EmFinder-location-service.jpg

To provide caregivers and family members with peace of mind and prevent a tragedy, the EmSeeQ emergency locator system by EmFinders makes finding and recovering a lost loved one quick, safe and reliable. The wristwatch-style device uses cellular telephone technology to securely locate the wearer in the event of a wandering emergency. The device is effective and reliable nationwide--anywhere cell service is available--and integrates directly with the E-9-1-1 emergency response system.

The Risk of Wandering

"Studies show that if someone wanders, the first 24 hours are crucial--if they're not recovered in that time frame, they are far less likely to survive the ordeal, especially during inclement weather," said Jim Nalley, CEO and founder of EmFinders. "EmSeeQ can prevent that tragedy by enabling police to quickly locate a lost individual, reducing the worry and risk for family members, caregivers and long-term care facilities."

Around 10 million Americans are considered cognitively impaired due to Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism, traumatic brain injury or other circumstance. Wandering behavior occurs at some point in about 60 percent of Alzheimer patients and about 92 percent of autistic children tend to wander. Each year, many such individuals do wander off unexpectedly--about 127,000 critical cases involving just Alzheimer's patients annually--causing overwhelming worry for their loved ones and costing millions of dollars for recovery efforts, both of which could be prevented with the EmSeeQ bracelet.

How it Works

When an EmSeeQ wearer wanders off, the caregiver calls 9-1-1 after a thorough search of all the usual places. The caregiver receives a case number from emergency officials and calls the EmFinder's toll-free hotline to report the missing person. EmFinders remotely activates the missing individual's EmSeeQ device and the activated device calls 9-1-1. This automatically triggers the national E-9-1-1 emergency location system, which uses advanced cellular signal triangulation technology to provide an accurate location directly to emergency officials. The 911 dispatcher can update the location at any time to account for movement while the emergency responder is en route.

"EmSeeQ dramatically reduces the time from the initial missing persons report to the rescue, saving precious time and possibly a life," Nalley said. "It provides the location directly to emergency responders and it is more reliable than GPS-based solutions, which don't always work inside buildings or in areas where there is interference."

The EmSeeQ device is activated only after a caregiver has reported the missing person to the police, and the Emfinders Emergency Operations Center can provide emergency responders with valuable health-related information that may aid in the successful rescue of the EmSeeQ wearer.

Affordable, Reliable for Families and Care Facilities

The device is also very affordable, costing less than a typical cell phone, with a service plan that runs about $25 per month--a small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes from knowing your wandering loved ones will be located quickly and safely.

Two bracelet models are available: a watch-style band with a buckle, and a secure clasp-style band that requires two hands for removal to ensure that it cannot be removed by the impaired individual.

"With EmSeeQ, caregivers can finally leave the house to go to work and other places with less worry about their loved one wandering off while they're away," Nalley said. "This allows families to keep impaired individuals at home longer, rather than committing them to long-term care before its absolutely necessary, and it's much less expensive than a nursing home."

The system can also save on health care costs. Wandering individuals can quickly become dehydrated, get hurt, mugged or otherwise injured, resulting in the need for urgent medical attention. By helping to locate missing individuals quickly, these situations can be avoided, eliminating the need for costly emergency room visits and hospital stays.

For assisted-living and long-term facilities, the EmSeeQ system provides added security and enhanced care that allow families to feel more confident entrusting the facility with the care of their loved ones. From a risk management perspective, it may also help to reduce liability insurance rates and avoid costly legal judgments should a wandering end tragically - a result that not only has grave human costs, but may also cause serious damage to a facility's reputation.

"Most facilities have some device that alerts them when a patient leaves the facility, but nothing that helps find the missing person," Nalley said. "With EmSeeQ, they can not only be alerted to the person leaving the premises, but also quickly locate and bring the wanderer back home."

No wonder the U.S. Post Office is having trouble -- FedEx is stealing all their thunder.

The global-shipping behemoth said Monday they expect Dec. 12 will be the busiest day in company history, as more than 17 million packages make their way through the system. That's just a small portion of the 250 million shipments they anticipate handling between Thanksgiving and Christmas, for a total increase of 12 percent from 2010.

FedEx's good fortune may have something to do with consumers' increasing trust of e-retailers as more individuals turn to the Internet for their shopping needs, according to a recent article by Marketing Pilgrim. And, with holiday free shipping deals being announced by such stores as Sears, Kmart and Best Buy, shoppers have even more incentive to buy online. But that's just one interesting shopping trend popping up this holiday season. Here are 11 more for your consideration.

1. Less Time Spent Per Site
The same IBM Coremetrics study featured in the Marketing Pilgrim article found consumers aren't willing to dig deeper into a site unless they see the info they need on the homepage. In fact, many shoppers won't go any further if they don't see an ad with a free shipping offer.

2. Shopping Online for Electronics
As consumers become more comfortable with online shopping, they're expanding their horizons beyond shoes and clothing. A survey published in Consumer Reports' December issue revealed 34 percent of respondents bought electronics online, including TVs. That's up from 27 percent in 2010.

3. Free Shipping With An Added Percent Off
ShoeBuy.com is presently offering 15-percent off with free shipping and Gaiam.com 10 percent, but the Lands' End free shipping offer had them both beat earlier this week with a 30-percent discount. Consumers will likely see more such deals on Free Shipping Day, scheduled this year for Dec. 16. That's the one-day shopping holiday when more than 2,000 merchants offer free shipping with delivery by Christmas Eve. The deals are expected to be even wowzer this year as e-retailers compete to grab shoppers' attention.

4. Extended No-Interest Periods
Six months interest-free deals are nothing these days. For example, furniture chain Raymour & Flanigan has extended its grace period to four years, even though it'll have to swallow a portion of those charges.

5. Extended Return Periods
TJ Maxx is just one merchant extending its store exchange and return policy for items purchased as gift from now to Jan. 17. Recipients can return unwanted Christmas gifts for either goods or a TJ Maxx gift card and no-one need ever know. Victoria's Secret is allowing 90 days and Ann Taylor 60 days.

6. Price Matching Plus
It's not enough anymore to just provide the best prices. Many stores now offer an added bonus when you find a better deal. For example, Home Depot will match and beat competitors' prices by 10 percent, as does Lowe's and Sears. Walmart recently announced shoppers will receive both a price match and a gift card in the amount of the price difference.

7. Price Matching With Online-only Merchants
Price guarantees have been fairly common for years, but most merchants only matched for other brick-and-mortar stores. A growing number, however, are allowing comparisons to e-retailers. For example, Bed Bath and Beyond is matching with such online-only merchants as Amazon.com.

8. Free Stuff
Online jeweler Stauer is offering free necklaces worth $195 to $295 if consumers will foot the $24.95 shipping bill. While the e-retailer expects to lose cash on the offer, it hopes shoppers will stick around to buy other jewelry.

9. Self Gifting
The National Retail Foundation dug up an interesting factoid in a published survey from last week: More than 60 percent of Americans polled planned on spending $130.43 on gifts for themselves, up from $112.20 in 2010.

10. Smart Shoppers Using Smartphones
Smartphones aren't just for Googling the way to a store anymore. According to the same NRF survey, 52.6 percent of those who owned a smartphone will use the device to find products, redeem coupons and make holiday purchases.

11. Adding More Seasonal Staff
The aforementioned traffic boost at FedEx means they'll hire 495,000 seasonal employees, while Macy's plans on boosting its staff by 78,000 temps, up from 75,000 in 2010.

Remember all those tips saying you should cook rather than eat out? Well the USDA says we might just be wrong about that in the near future. A recent study by the government agency estimated the price gap between eating at home and dining out will narrow even further in 2012. Grocery prices are expected to rise 3 percent to 4 percent, while menu prices will likely go up 2 percent to 3 percent.

That doesn't mean you have to resort to the McDonald's Dollar Menu, however. It's still cheaper to eat at home, but amateur chefs will have to cut even more corners this year. Here are a few tips on dining at home frugally in a dine-out world.

1. Shop on Tuesdays
Wednesdays are the heaviest shopping day for supermarkets as that's when they publish their weekly newspaper ads. (Manufacturer ads are usually distributed with the Sunday paper.) That means grocery stores are interested in ditching last week's produce and meats on Tuesday night. Talk to the butcher and produce clerks about slapping a better price on those products they're about to toss.

2. Use Mobile Coupons
Shopping on Tuesday means you can't take advantage of Wednesday coupons. Happily, you can access mobile coupons right there in the store from the Coupon Sherpa app. This fab app allows you to search for your favorite local store, access desirable coupons, then download them to your store loyalty card.

3. Plan Your Meals Around Ads
If you plan on shopping after newspaper inserts are printed, plan your menu around featured items and build a list before you hit the store. You can use apps like Grocery Gadget (Apple) and Grocery IQ (Android) to create lists based on your supermarket's layout.

4. Shop Stores That Double Coupons
Not all supermarkets are willing to double-up on coupons, and not all maintain such a policy continuously. The acceptance rate has gone down since the advent of "Extreme Couponers," so check before you start clipping. This practice is usually limited to specific days and allows you to double the face value of a coupon, up to a certain amount.

5. Don't Overbuy Bulk
It may be tempting to buy the super-sized box of Cheerios, but you have to consider whether you'll actually eat all those little oat donuts before they turn into rocks. Buy just enough to last until the next sale.

6. Limit Produce Purchases
Americans throw away roughly one quarter of the food we buy. For a family of four, that figures out to $2,200 a year in food, according to "American Wasteland" author Jonathan Bloom. Rather than grab fruits and vegetables that look appealing, stick to your list and avoid spoilage. You're also more likely to use produce if you don't hide it away in your refrigerator's bins. Keep it in plain site or make a list of contents that you stick on the fridge drawer as a reminder.

7. Avoid Temptation
King Soopers (owned by Krogers) has launched new "Marketplace" stores in the west, with layouts similar to Whole Foods. Walk in the door and you're immediately assaulted by the smell of stunning flower arrangements, fresh deli items, and beautifully arranged produce. It's tempting to fill your cart in this section, so be on your guard. Also beware of the non-food items for sale, including everything from furniture to high-end jewelry.

8. Don't Use a Cart
Ditch the carry-all cart and carry a basket for quick trips. The less room you have to fill, the less likely you are to make impulse purchases.

Losing weight used to be the numero uno New Year's resolution, but the ugly economy has shoved this lofty goal down to second place on 2012 lists. A survey commissioned by Fidelity Investments found 46 percent of respondents said their highest priority was to save more money.

Eating right and exercising are straightforward, however, in comparison to paying off debts and socking away rainy-day cash. Of late, it feels like slipping on a Walmart sidewalk is the only feasible retirement plan; yet the top long-term goal cited in the survey was to make retirement a financial reality.

If solvency and savings are at the top of your resolution list, you'll want to give a gander at these 15 tips for 2012.

1. Cook It!
It's the same thing every noon: The gang troops out to pick up lunch from the nearest deli or eatery. Then they get home from work and order out for dinner. What a senseless waste of money! With restaurant prices on a five-year increase in excess of 26 percent, cooking at home is truly the way to go.

Spend a little time on Sunday (perhaps before and during the football games) to cook for the rest of the week. It's fairly easy to throw together a pot of spaghetti sauce that will translate into multiple meals throughout the week. Besides, one can only eat so much pizza.

2. Be Smart About Your Smartphone
Data and text-message plans eat up budgets faster than 4G connects you to Facebook. If you've already teamed up with relatives, call a family meeting and decide what you can live without, then cut back your plan when it's time to sign another contract. You might even try creating a family plan with friends and neighbors, if the provider will allow you to do so.

3. Cut the Cable
Every year it's another rate-hike email notification: "Due to increased overhead, we're jacking up your cable/satellite bill another 15 percent." Cut these money-hungry mongrels out of your life by switching over to free, streaming videos, sports, movies and television shows.

4. Coupon It Up
Thanks to TLC's "Extreme Couponing," all of America knows you can cut your bill with coupons at the grocery store. What you many not realize is these money savers can be used for nearly everything from hotel accommodations to office supplies.

Mobile coupons make the process even easier. Coupon Sherpa, for example, has an app that allows you to access coupons from your smartphone for use right there in the store. When grocery shopping, this same app lets you search for a preferred supermarket by ZIP code, then download coupons directly to your loyalty card. The savings are then deducted at checkout.

5. Use the Public Library
Modern libraries now have DVDs, CDs, video games, e-books and Internet access -- all provided for free. Many allow you to place an online hold for an item you want and receive it within days. Naturally, you can also peruse the stacks, but that's so 10 minutes ago. Check with your library, as well, for discounts on passes to museum, zoos, and other attractions.

6. Go Guttenberg
We're not talking about the actor Steve Guttenberg here: This is a plug for Project Gutenberg, where you can download thousands of free e-books from a single website. You won't find recent titles here as only copyright-expired books are posted, but surely you can find something in their 36,000 book selection to catch your interest. Books are downloadable to your PC, Kindle, Android, iOS or other portable devices.

7. Discounts through Gift Cards
There are a couple ways to save here. First, you can go to sites like GiftCardGranny.com and buy discount gift cards, sometimes saving as much as 50 percent off the face value. Secondly, you can exchange gift cards you don't want for cash at the same site. That way, those cards don't sit amoldering at the back of your dresser drawer.

8. Gift With Daily Deals
Daily deals are everywhere, from Living Social to your local paper, and they're a great way to save on gifts, if you use your smarts. There are a lot of deals for spas, teeth whitening, restaurant meals, etc. that are so cheap it must pain the provider to provide these offers. Make sure you read the small print, however. You'll want to consider expiration dates and whether add-ons are included, like restaurant tips and desirable services that aren't included in the package.

9. Swap Stuff
There are tons (well, pounds) of websites where you can swap everything from books to children's clothing. Swap.com is the mother of them all, but check here for a comprehensive list.

10. Sell Your Stuff
Consignment shops are ready to start laying in stock for spring and summer, so now's a good time to get your gently used clothes, shoes and accessories ready for resale. You can sell other items on Craigslist or, for higher-end items, auction them on eBay. Make sure you read the selling tips for both websites so you can unload your belongings with the least amount of muss and fuss.

11. Host a Garage Sale
Garage sales aren't just a form of entertainment for the shoppers -- They're a good way to clear out household clutter and make a few bucks. Since larger sales draw bigger crowds, begin organizing your neighborhood now to team up for a Godzilla-size event. Advertising is the most important aspect of a successful sale, so don't forget to figure in the cost of a newspaper ad. Also check into promoting your sale at websites like YardSaleSearch.com and GarageSalesTracker.com.

12. Get With the Program
Heating and cooling accounts for 42 percent of home energy costs, some of which is pumped into empty spaces and empty houses. Installing a programmable thermostat helps control the temperature and your bill, with savings from 10 to 30 percent. Try turning down the thermostat by just 1 degree during the winter or up 1 degree during warmer weather months to cut an additional 5 percent. Space heaters can also help reduce the amount of heat used in empty spaces.

13. Transfer Your Money Out of Sight
A great way to avoid spending your entire paycheck is to have funds automatically transferred into some sort of savings account. Out of sight is out of mind, right? If you never see the cash, you're less likely to spend it.

14. Spend Cash Only
It's so easy to swipe your way to the poor house. Instead, hide those debit and credit cards and give yourself a weekly allowance. It's human nature to part less easily with cash, so you're less likely to splurge on little (or big) extras.

Of course, this means you'll have to make regular trips to the bank, so make sure your account is housed at an institution that doesn't charge extra for personal services.

15. Ask and You Shall Receive
If you have a credit card, ask for a rate reduction to trim those painful monthly interest fees. Simply call the customer service hotline and tell them that you want an interest rate reduction, or you'll take your business elsewhere. If the customer service rep is unhelpful, ask to speak to a supervisor who has more authority over such requests. With a $5,000 balance, even a 3 percent rate reduction saves you $150 a year. Do the math to realize the savings potential of a quick call.

        For Community Awareness!

A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL,
STATE OF MICHIGAN:

WARNING # 1
W hile driving on a rural end of the roadway on Thursday morning, I saw an infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it.

For whatever reason, I did not stop even though I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head.  When I got to my destination, I called the Canton PD and they were going to check it out. But this is what the Police advised even before they went out there to check....

"There are several things to be aware of ... gangs and thieves are now plotting different ways to get a person (mostly women) to stop their vehicle and get out of the car.

"There is a gang initiation reported by the local Police Department where gangs are placing a car seat by the road...with a fake baby in it....waiting for a woman, of course, to stop and check on the abandoned baby.

Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or grassy (field) area and the person -- woman -- will be dragged into the woods, beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man, they're usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too."

DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!! DIAL 9-1-1 AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON 'T EVEN SLOW DOWN.

WARNING # 2

"IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT YOUR WINDSHIELD, DO NOT STOP TO CHECK THE CAR, DO NOT OPERATE THE WIPER, AND DO NOT SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE EGGS MIXED WITH WATER BECOME MILKY AND BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO 92.5%.  YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO STOP BESIDE THE ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THESE CRIMINALS.

THIS IS A NEW TECHNIQUE USED BY GANGS, SO PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.

THESE ARE DESPERATE TIMES AND THESE ARE UNSAVORY INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES TO GET WHAT THEY WANT."

Please talk to your loved ones about this. These are new tactics being used. Please be safe.

Get started NOW -- SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES TO BE CAREFUL AND AWARE OF EVERYTHING AROUND THEM SO AS NOT TO BECOME A VICTIM.

WARNING # 3

Some knew about the red lights on cars but not the 112 cell phone feature.
It was about 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind herand put his lights on. Lauren's parents have always told her never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc.

Lauren had actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called112 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars where she was and there weren't.  He told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had backup already on the way.

Ten minutes later 4 patrol cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.

I never knew about the 112 Cell Phone feature, but especially for a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going to a safe place.

*Speaking to a service representative at Bell Mobile confirmed that 112 was a direct link to State trooper info.  So, now it's your turn to let your friends know about 112.

You may want to send this to every woman (and man) you know; it may save a life.

Boomers and Friends,  Here are some beautiful thoughts and words of wisdom for ourselves to put them into action......................

Maybe. . .we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be
grateful for that gift.

Maybe . . . when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but, often
times, we look so long at the closed door that we don't even see the new
one which has been opened for us.

Maybe . . . it is true that we don't know what we have until we lose it,
but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it
arrives.

Maybe . . . the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of
everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Maybe . . . the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past;
after all, you can't go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.

Maybe . . . you should dream what you want to dream; go where you want to
go, be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance
to do all the things you dream of, and want to do.

Maybe . . . there are moments in life when you miss someone -- a parent, a
spouse, a friend, a child -- so much that you just want to pick them from
your dreams and hug them for real, so that once they are around you
appreciate them more.

Maybe . . . the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and
swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.

Maybe. . .you should always try to put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel
that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person,
too.

Maybe. . .you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if
it is simply to leave them alone.

Maybe. . .giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will
love you back. Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in
their heart; but, if it doesn't, be content that it grew in yours.

Maybe . . . happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all
those who have searched, and all those who have tried, for only they can
appreciate the importance of ll the people who have touched their lves.

Maybe . . . you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive; don't go for
wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because
it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that
makes your heart smile.

Maybe. . .you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough
trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough
hope to make you happy

Maybe . . . you should try to live your life to the fullest because when
you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling but
when you die, you can be the one who is smiling and everyone around you
crying.

Maybe . . . you could send this message to those people who mean something to you, to those who have touched your life, to those who can and do make you
smile when you really need it, to those who make you see the brighter
side of things when you are really down, and to all those whom you want
to know that you appreciate them and their friendship.

In choosing our niche market  most people got screw-up.  People pick the wrong niche! I did it, you've probably done it. We all do it. Picking a hot little niche can be 30 times more profitable than the wrong one.  It is just like earning $300/day instead of $10/day for the SAME effort!

A niche where people have an ongoing problem to solve such as hair loss or women trying to look their best.   The topic is a critical part of that audience's lives.  They are seeking for solution for the problem.  For women seeking beauty they may put make-up on every day.
That is a large audience who are interested in the topic.  This audience will want to buy both information and physical products.

A niche can be broken down into more specific sub-niches for example eye wrinkles, skin care, hair care, eyes care, lips care, etc.

Products and information in this niche vary from very cheap to very expensive,  e.g.cheap make-up eBooks to expensive beauty seminars, cheap moisturizers to very expensive eye-care cream

Think about it! In a niche like that how much money could you make off one loyal reader? In niches like these earning $5/mo per subscriber is possible.  That means with just 100 subscribers you have $500/mo in revenue.

If you want to earn more money, for less effort, then you need to pick a highly profitable niche. This is the way to do it...
http://mindquo.com/goto/niche-detective/

Compare a niche like beauty to a niche like iPods. How many iPods do people buy a year? Do they buy an iPod accessory every week, unlikely - even for a hardcore iPod fan! Do they want to buy information on their iPods, nope. Okay they might buy music, but at 99c a track with tiny commissions you won't get you rich.

Now I am not saying to pick beauty as your niche - go for a niche you can relate to. Even if beauty is that niche, just picking 'beauty' is not the end of your niche research. There's more to it...

-- Make it quick!

I said we wanted to get to $100/day fast. Let's get the niche out of the way with a flash in the pan. No wasting time here. Minimum effort, maximum results!

You need to pick a sub-niche to get started in. For example, if beauty is your niche, then you might start with anti-aging wrinkle cream and your target audience would be women over 30.

Now here's how to pick this sub-niche very quickly, and already know for sure it is HUGELY profitable...

-- Copy someone else!

Take those super affiliates earning masses of cash, and let them tell you what are the massively popular niches to target, that also have low enough competition for you to get in on the act.

So that is your task for today, uncover that hot sub-niche itching with profits...

http://mindquo.com/goto/niche-detective/

A brief sum up...

Get more efficient at earning money. That means more money for less work.

I want to share with you a business model which is very effective at making money quickly. You won't earn $100,000 overnight, but if you take action $100/day is within reach from this new project very quickly.

How quick is ultimately down to you. You must take action!

So start by picking the right niche...

Benefits of Eating More Fish

  • healthy foods.jpgFatty fish have the greatest health benefits.
  • Eating fish as part of a  balanced diet.
  • Source of lean protein low in saturated fat,
  • Fish provides essential omega 3 fatty acids  important for proper cell function.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canada's Food Guide recommends people eat two servings (75g each) of fish each week

The greatest benefit of these types of fish is they are all good sources of "marine" omega 3 fatty acids, EPA, DHA  which protect the body against heart disease.  These essential fatty acids are not produced by our bodies very well but they are critical for our development and functioning.  It is therefore beneficial for our diets to include sources of omega 3 fatty acids

Benefits of Wild Salmon over Farmed Salmon:

  • Wild salmon supplies high quality protein.  It is low in saturated fat, rich in polyunsaturated fats and a good source of iron, zinc and calcium.

  • Wild salmon is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids.  They are important for cell function.  There is strong evidence that omega 3 fatty acids can help lower rates of heart diseases, reduce hypertension, relieve some arthritis symptom and prevent cancer.

Wild salmon provides a healthier ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids than farmed salmon because the diet of farmed salmon includes oils already common in many processed foods such as corn, canola and soy

Enough with the home-cooked meals. It's time to get out of the house and let someone else prepare your food for a change.

In response to tight budgets, frugal advisers have recommended for some time now that we stay at home to save money. But such deprivation grows old fast, so maybe it's time to consider these six tips to help you spread your dining wings without crash landing your budget.

1. FourSquare Deals
Members check-in to various locations on their mobile phones using this service, but did you know you can also receive offers for freebies and discounts simply by letting FourSquare know where you are? Check out a recent segment on FOX & Friends for a "how to" on using the app for restaurant savings.

2. Track Daily Deals
Restaurants are one of the most common frequenters of daily deal offerings, so it pays to keep an eye out for vouchers that can greatly reduce the cost of dining at a new or favored eatery. Just make sure you read the small print and are aware of expiration dates and exclusions. For example, most restaurant vouchers don't include drinks.

3. Get Happy
Eating early isn't just for our elders. Happy hour ad early bird deals have become more common as restaurants try to fill in slow-traffic times. For example, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill offers full-size appetizers for under $5 before 6 p.m., plus $3 drink specials.

4. Split It Up
American restaurants usually overload our plates -- unless they're into nuvo cuisine -- so there's often enough food for two in a single order. You can cut your costs down to around $20 by simply sharing an appetizer, entree and dessert with a friend or date.

5. Gift Yourself
We tend to think of gift cards in terms of what we can offer others, but they're actually very useful for individual purchases. Sites like GiftCardGranny.com let you purchase gift cards for several restaurants at a discounted rate, yielding immediate savings of up to 50 percent.

6. MatchPin
If you live in one of nine major cities, you might download the free MatchPin app. Membership brings you offers, rewards, contests and announcements from a variety of local restaurants.

The holiday decorations are packed away -- or should be -- and the goose is no longer getting fat. With a new year upon us, it's time to consider what we've learned from the 2011 shopping season so we can create smarter spending habits in 2012. Here are eight shopping trends seen during last year's revelries.

1. Clicks Beat Bricks
This was the year e-commerce beat the pants off brick-and-mortar retailing. Although traditional stores did better than expected -- up an estimated 3.8 percent -- online shopping surged 15 percent over 2010.

2. Free Shipping Was Everywhere
Consumers clamored for free shipping offers and often abandoned their online shopping carts when such deals weren't offered. That explains why nine out of 10 retailers provided free shipping during the holiday season. This prosperity no doubt will spill over into 2012, as websites like FreeShipping.org continue to attract bargain shoppers.

3. Free Return Shipping the Next Big Thing
Zappos and several shoe stores began offering free return shipping years ago, but this year even Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus got in on the trend. According to a MarketLive study, 73 percent of respondents named free returns as a deciding factor in their online purchasing.

4. iPads Rule
Laptop shopping is so passé! More than 18 percent of all e-commerce hits were initiated from a mobile device. That's up of 8.4 percent from Christmas Day 2010 and an astounding increase of 117.8 percent. Yes, that figure is 117.8, not 11.78.

5. Dumbbell Shopping
Americans weren't flocking to weight lifting; they were shopping early and late and avoiding the in-between, creating a dumbbell-shaped graph. As expected, buying surged on Black Friday by 6.6 percent over 2010 -- a new record. Then last-minute shoppers hunting for the best deals gave retailers a 4.5 sales uptick in the week before Christmas, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers.

In fact, the post-Black Friday lull was even slower than usual this year. The two weeks after Thanksgiving weekend showed the biggest percentage in sales reduction since 2000. In the last two weeks before Christmas, sales surged once again by the largest rate since the 2005 holiday season.

6. Event Shopping
Black Friday and Cyber Monday have been joined in recent years by Green Monday and Free Shipping Day. There's a slew of smaller shopping holidays, but these events drew the bulk of media coverage.

7. Gift Registries
In days of old, gift registries were pretty much restricted to weddings and baby showers. This year, Christmas-specific registries flourished, with lists from Santa's Hideout and Checked Twice. Even gift cards have registries for nearly every event at Card Avenue.

According to the Harvard Business School report "Give Them What They Want," "Gift recipients are more appreciative of gifts they explicitly request than those they do not. In contrast, gift givers assume that both solicited and unsolicited gifts will be equally appreciated."

8. Dollar Store Deals
Consumers weren't too embarrassed to hit the low-end shopping outlets, like dollar stores, thrift stores and pawn shops in an effort to save as much as possible. Many saw increased sales over 2010.

In fact, the National Pawnbrokers Association estimated there are roughly 13,000 pawnshops around the country that support a rapidly growing $6.1 billion industry.

Returning gifts is such a drag many of us simply toss unwanted presents into a closet with the hopes of re-gifting them in the future. Sadly, waiting in line for returns and exchanges is a ritual many of us still honor. A recent Consumer Reports survey revealed one-in-five Americans plan on celebrating this post-holiday tradition. If you anticipate joining the lengthy queues, keep these seven tips in mind.

1. Research the Return Policy
Retailers with websites almost always post their return policies. They may be difficult to find at first, so search under links for "Customer Service," "FAQ" or "Help." You'll find lots of small type, but it's worth reading through all the mouse scrawlings to know exactly what you'll face.

2. Keep an Eye on the Date
Some stores have extended the number of days during which you can return holiday gifts, but most still hold to their standard policy. Remember the expiration date is from the time of purchase. In "Return rules at 8 big retailers" published last year, Consumer Reports found the average return period ranged from 30 to 180 days.

3. Keep the Gift Receipt
If some thoughtful friend or loved one was kind enough to include a gift receipt, this is your golden ticket for exchanges or returns. Keep in mind that, because such receipts don't indicate the purchase price, the store likely will only reimburse you at the going rate.

4. If You Don't Have a Receipt...
...bring an ID. More than 60 percent of retailers require a customer to show ID when returning an item without a receipt. This is because some stores limit how many times you can return purchases within a set time period.

5. Avoid Shipping Charges
Many major retailers -- but not all -- will accept returns of online purchases at their brick-and-mortar stores. You might have to wait in line, but you'll save a bundle on shipping and the hassle of re-boxing a gift and mailing it out.

6. Resell Gift Cards
You don't need a receipt to exchange unwanted gift cards for cash. Visit GiftCardGranny.com, where you can resell gift cards to several companies for a percentage of the face value.

7. Don't Open What You Don't Want
Because the merchant can't resell opened items as new, you could be charged a hefty restocking fee just for cracking the lid. Amazon cranks up the charge to 50 percent for software, used books and DVDs; but Overstock takes the cake at 60 percent for open or used products.

My Action Plan For 2012

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks
What is Your Action Plan for 2012?

action plan.jpgI don't have any resolution for the new year.  Instead I have an action plan for 2012.  It is  simple so that I can do it.  It is small so that I can manage it.  In brief it is comprised of things I need and like to do .  What I would like to improve are the areas where I am not doing well enough... to improve them a little bit each day.

Consistent Blogging
consistent performance.jpgI would  try to blog one post each day.  It is a simple goal yet not easy.  As I checked my previous posts during the past years,  I noticed that there were days I did not do any posting at all.   Sometimes, I made two to three posts for the same day when my writing mood was high.  I would change my plan a little bit here.  I would adhere closely to the one per day basis.  If I am in the right writing mood, I rather make it as a reserve keeping them together in a pool so that I won't miss any day when I was unable to post for any reason.

Consistent Singing

I like singing.  I sing almost every day.  When I practice singing daily I don't notice anything. However, when I stop practice for two to three days,  I notice my singing goes backward.  Therefore,  it is important to keep consistent practice in order to make the daily improvement.

A friend told me the following story.  He is a ping pong maniac.  He practices his ping pong two hours daily.  If he stops practice one day,  his coach would notice it.  If he stops practice for two days, he himself would notice it.  If he stops practice for three days, the spectators would notice it.  This principle also applies to physical exercises.  Consistent is the key if one wants to be successful in any endeavor.  So,  I would like to schedule my time for my favorite endeavors say 60 to 90 minutes daily for each one of them.

Being More Focus for Better Quality

priority quadrant.jpgIn the past, I want to do a lot of things.  It is time to change.   I would rather be more focus in doing one or two things and be very good at it.  I would focus on things which are important and urgent.   When working  in the internet it is so easy to get astray and lost focus as the mind is overwhelmed by the information.  People can fiddling over things that are totally not important nor urgent and subsequently wasted time.   In my case, let me be more focused writing high quality post.   I would  prefer to write a high quality post with 500 - 700 words with good contents, with plenty of related keywords.

Search engines optimization quick guideline:

  • H1 tag containing your keyword
  • have H2 tag containing your keyword
  • have H3 tag containing your keyword
  • bold your keyword
  • italic your keyword
  • have enough keywords and underline them
  • have an image for SEOPressor to add ALT tag
  • have keyword in the first sentence.

Make each post to become a pillar post is my goal for 2012.  I would apply this attitude to the other areas such as singing and hobbies giving more emphasis to quality than quantity.

Put More Effort in Marketing My Blog

As I review my blog and its postings,  I need to put more effort in marketing my blog.  By this I meant I need to interact more with my loyal readers as well as the people who visit my blog from time to time.   The foundation of my marketing plan would be the name list of my readers and visiting.  I need to improve and expand it.  This is the first thing I need to do in 2012.

The solution for this important task is now installed in my blog via Aweber. They are the best in the business and have features that put them ahead of the competition. Aweber offers a $1 trial acount for all new customers. The account is just like a normal Aweber account and includes unlimited email campaigns, newsletter, broadcasts and follow ups.

The To Do List

priorities list.jpgI am referring to the basics of the to do list, not the details of daily tasks.  The basic rules are:

(1) Be good and no evil

We are born in this world with a purpose.  And we are held accountable for we have done to ourselves and others at the end of earthly journey.  It applies to all without exception. What is legally or politically right may be completely wrong if viewed from the angle of accountability.

(2) Be healthy
Health is often being overlooked.   People are aware of it when it is lost.   For over half a century of observation and search for wisdom, I can say for sure it it much more important than money.

(3) Be happy
Being happy and enjoy life is essential to healthy and meaningful living.

(4) Be enriching financially for self and others
This is like a bonus given to the retiree or a salaried man.   In this respect, I like Empower Network for its 100% commission empowering and enriching features.

(5) Be organized
Google Calender is an excellent tool organizing and planning all the to-do things.

scan0001.jpgJulie and I went to La Salle College Old Boys Association (Toronto)  New Year 's  Eve Dinner Dance Party 2011 at Regal Chinese Restaurant Banquet Hall at Woodside Square, Scarborough.   Amidst the dine and wine, music and dance 490 people celebrated the New Year 's Eve 2011 countdown to the New Year 2012.

Synergy is the band providing live music for the evening.  It is comprised of La Salle Old Boy talents .  They simply empowered the New Year Night spirit with golden songs of the 60s through 80s.

  • Walk Away
  • Moon River
  • Try To Remember
  • Sway
  • Sugar Sugar
  • Night Wind
  • My Way
  • Edelweiss
  • Delilah
  • Diana
  • Changing Partner
  • and much more

SANY0318.JPGThe MC for the event were Chris and Kevin who kicked off the show at 7:30 p.m.  These old boys of La Salle College (HK)  were just like  professional entertainers even though their real professions are on different specialties such as doctors, lawyers teachers, entrepreneurs, etc.    Favorite songs of the 60s and 70s brought people on the dancing floor to twist and shouts along the memory searching melody of those old songs   These pop songs plus the Chinese contemporary songs brought back a lot of memories on the old days when we were young chasing after lovely girls.

The flavor of wine and the festive spirit in the midst of exotic music in the air nudged  all people young as well as those young at heart rejoiced together celebrating the New Year 2011 countdown.  Dancing, chatting and drinking were all over the banquet hall.  While food and drinks were plenty as always,  prizes and lucky draws were there awaiting the climax moment.  The first prize was a big TV.

We were seated at table 35 with Angelo Lee, his wife, son and daughter.  Antonio Almeider and his friends also joined us in the same table.  The New Year Countdown party was very successful and we are so thankful for those old boys who contributed their effort, time and money for this occasion.  A hearty thank you to Jimmy Chang the president, the directors and the organizing committee members.
Thank you for organizing such  great moments when buddies can gather together rejoicing friendship and memories among themselves.
