November 2011 Archives

It is a 1 year project for myself .  Let me tell you upfront  I am not out of my mind and It is not a crazy project.  I firmly believe it will work. .  No doubt about this.  To start with, the starting cost is $25 and the monthly operating cost is $25.  Project objective is to create upfront cash flow.  The second objective which is more important is to create a residual monthly income.   Sounds absurd but very challenging to a retiree who want some excitement and achievement by beating his own path.  May be it is equally challenging to you, my boomer friends!?.

My vision of building a business online is emerging.  It is brought about by the recent launch of Empower Network.  with a tiny budget of $25 I started this project.  To attain this goal I would only use organic traffic through blogging,  article writing, messages distribution through social media such as Facebook, Twitter,  and emails.  No telephone calls to friends nor telling buddies to buy from me.,.. just pure internet tools and organic traffic.  I would keep you guys updated on the project progress.

The rationale behind this interesting project is to finding out if people can make  a living with Empower Network just selling three to four product value from  $25 to $500..  I won 't keep any inventory as I don't have to.  I don't have overhead expenses as I am using all the tools and equipments within my existing home office,  no other operating expenses as well.   So,  it is a very simple home base business operation.

The first product to start with I call it product #1.   I call it product #1 to make it easy for me and the readers to remember.  What is  it? .  It is a $25 basic Empower Network membership and upon its purchase the member would have a Wordpress blog enhanced with the following features and functions:

  • Provides a blogging platform optimized for banner clicks on Wordpress multi-site format.
  • Provides online training from industry leaders  on how to gather more organic and viral traffic
  • Provides a sales funnel that jumps on the back of David Wood who is a seven figure online earner and possibly the best sales person in internet marketing industry..

in a nutshell,  with the above blogging system and my $25 start up capital  as well as the subsequent monthly $25 being the membership and reseller fee.  I will weave my dreamed business online.  To satisfy your curiosity,  let me explain a bit here.

With the basic membership I get viral blog unlike the average blog which you and me can build.  It is a highly sophisticated and it 24/7 supported and backup by groups of experts from different field of specialties,  e.g.  copy-writing, blogging design, Wordpress, search engines optimization, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media, internet marketing, attraction marketing, niche marketing.  Average people may years to grab a command of all these knowledge and experience.   Now, this sophisticated blogging system is designed in such a way that makes it most user friendly.  People are required to do three things.,  yes only three simple tasks daily:

  • Blog daily
  • Tell friends
  • Collect money

This EN blog offers value way way above its price.  Anyone familiar with blogging, web hosting, web design, web development would agree on this point. Its value is more than its price.  It provides me is not just a blog.  It is a lot more than that.   The training video series within the blog itself, the weekly webinars  as well as the on going trainings,  the community for information communication and socializing for technical and motivational support.  I like this product and the culture around it.  .  It is a star for now and for the years to come.

Now, I have a very good product.   What I need to do is to promote it.  I would not chase my friends and relatives asking them to buy from me.  I would rather promote it to the mass of people out there in the internet world through my blog which is optimized by the guru.   I would adhere to what I learn from EN 25 training and apply them when promoting the product itself.  You would like my blog and its promos on Facebook, Twitter, emails, articles, and any media I can conceive.   Spread the words and he messages about Empower Network is the key here at this  point of time.   Why?   The reason is simple,  the EN 25 built in design already taken good care of capture page, sales page, conversion and closing.  So, I just focus one blogging daily with original and good content.   Next is to spread the messages out to the net.  the last task, I just don't need to be reminded,  because all payment will be deposit into my bank account direct.  And it 100% commission.   What are you waiting for?  You can start the project like me.  Start invest you initial capital investment onto a business for yourself online.  By the way this much for today,  I would cover more products in my next post.

Oh tannenbaum, oh tannenbaum, how lovely is thy tax situation.

Less than 24 hours after the Department of Agriculture announced they were slapping a 15-cents per tree tax on Christmas tree growers, the Obama administration backed off on the plan. The idea, hatched by the tree growers themselves was to fund a promotional push similar to the successful "Got Milk?" campaign from dairy producers.

Naturally, consumers would get stuck paying any such tax, bloating tree prices even further. Maybe it's time to try that Festivus aluminum pole from "Seinfeld," instead of a tree? Or maybe it's time to consider these guidelines for buying thata Christmas fir.

1. Ask Where It Came From
Some Christmas tree lots buy trucked-in trees before Thanksgiving, meaning they'll drop needles faster than airlines can raise their baggage fees. Weeks may have passed since those trees were originally cut, so always ask the vendor where and when they buy their trees.

2. Check for Freshness
Is the tree green and healthy with a fragrant scent and moist, flexible needles? Does it have damaged bark or broken branches? When you bounce it lightly on the ground, does it shower you with needles?

3. Weigh It
A heavy tree -- proportionate to its size -- means it contains a higher water content, and is therefore fresh.

4. Buy Locally Grown
Is there an area farm that sells freshly cut trees? You'll still want to give them the bounce test, but just the fact they were cut on-site means the trees are fresher. Enter your zip code under "Find My Tree Now" on the National Christmas Tree Association's website to find your nearest provider.

5. Cut Your Own
It takes some effort and a good axe or saw, but there's a great deal of satisfaction in harvesting your own tree, from an approved location, of course. Finding just the right tree and tackling the job as part of a team also makes for a fun outing.

6. Buy Online
You can buy anything online these days. Companies like Christmas Trees Galore offer free shipping and you won't have to cart the tree home on top of your car. Check FreeShipping.org for delivery deals and while you're there, find free shipping offers on ornaments and other decorations.

7. Treat It Tenderly
Keep the tree outside in a shaded, cool place for a couple days, preferably standing in water. Before bringing it indoors, cut half an inch or so off the butt end to open up its pores, much as you would with cut roses. Once inside, remember to keep the tree stand topped up with water each day. For more information about caring for your live tree, check out The Ohio University's Extension Fact Sheet.

Introduction

In my previous post, I blogged about my mental struggle before I joined and became a member of Empower Network.  Now after 2 weeks,  I would put down here my observation and findings related to this new affiliate program:

Findings:

1.  Empower Network Trainings are  Plenty, Practical and Useful

empower network webina.jpgThere are plenty of after sale learning sessions going on with this affiliate program.  For example, the learning materials inside of the program such as  series of 8 videos with  respective, quiz, the weekly webinars by the co-founders,  the webinars by founding members and leaders,  the email training materials by the sponsors.  I can tell you what I learned from these materials are amazing though they are completely free.  All I can say these are high quality stuff and they help me to learn much more than I expected.   They help me in the keywords application, the SEO (search engines optimization ) application.  Hence I have improved a lot for the rankings of the individual posts.  I cited an example here for you guys,  my post 'Join Empower Network with David Au'  it is on the first page of Google search results.   I found at the same time my 'Empower Network' related post e.g.Empower Network (增強網絡) - Introduction in Chinese is in prominent position there on the first  page of Google search.   These positive results are brought about by the proper keywords application as well as the viral nature of Empower Network' blog being jointly supported by its  8000  representatives every day.  The end results are cool and I like it. so much,   Join.affiliate program with 100% commission

2. Empower Network Home Like Community

empower network community group.jpgThe Empower Network community is an extraordinary experience.  The positive mindset and entrepreneur attitude people cannot miss it.  I was most impressed with the people helping people spirit within my group and other groups.   It is a feeling of a big family where all people are related and have a common goal and that is to help one and other to become successful.   It is not just the  success of the individual big guys.  It is the total success involving the small guys, new guys and poor guys.  I cannot find such culture online in other places.  I am glad I made a very good decision joining Empower Network. I like it and  I posted the following comments in the EN Community on the Facebook:

The other priceless element people got from EN is the readiness to help and support from the EN group like your guys and the technical guys who work behind the scene. I am total impressed for the measles investment. Yes? You guys would agree with me?! Join.affiliate program with 100% commission

This morning, I posted my first post on EN. The experience is amazing in terms of speed, optimization. It is very fast as compared to my Movable type blog. The optimization concept open my eyes. I think I can borrow some idea from EN to further optimize my own blog. The money spent is worthwhile as EN is over value. A good buy for any one who would like do internet business.

Empower Network and the Team work as one and with one common goal helping each other especially the little guys to become successful. I see true team work here. Helping each other out answering questions and solving difficulties/problems are there in their communities, groups under respective leadership at the top as well as among the followers. Training, eduction materials of very high quality are abundant and mostly free. They are priceless and money can't buy. Just the training courses, and the community atmospheric feeling open my eyes. In short, Empower Network provides effective solutions, tools and platform for people in different walks of life to succeed in their online business endeavors

3.  Leaders with Great Heart

empower network blog.jpgThe leaders David Wood and David Sharpe are sweet and charming.   I don't mean they are beautiful and sexy here.  They are charming for their in depth knowledge and know-how in the networking tactics and strategies.   They are sweet for their generosity of sharing of the precious assets, the knowledge,  experiences and even resources and tools with their followers.   I give you an example,  the sponsoring leaders share their series of  following letter, the know-how to upload these resources and the integration of them through the right tools into Empower Network backoffice.  They do all these for free.    This is a great people value I miss so much in the business world.

4.  Empower Network
An Affiliate Program that Can Become a Business Online

I joined as a basic member.  It is $25 per month.  It is my principle of investment which I practiced in different field of financial investments, e.g. real estates, equities, business.  That is to use the smallest possible amount of money to achieve the best return.   I would like to apply a famous saying Dang Siu Ping, a great thinker and  the Ex-Chairman of China.  He is the architect and the master mind laying down the blueprint for Today 's China Modernization, 'Touch the stone s as you cross the river'.   In business we need to do thing in pragmatic ways without being hype nor negative.

I totally agree with the following saying: ' Often, the greatest challenge facing an organization is recognizing and acting on opportunity rather than solving a problem. - Peter Ginter

With Empower Network at only $25 a month, I give myself not just a fully optimized blog, a sales funnel integrated platform where I can promote my primary business as well the Empower Network business opportunity.  I earn commission upfront as people join this affiliate program.   For instance, if you like this business opportunity with all the built in benefits.  then you decide to join working with me.   I would have the commission and this is a 100% commission.  And down the road, as you continue to subscribe, I have the residual commission also 100%.    This is what makes Empower Network a great product and an outstanding business.   With one referral in a month,  my cost is covered.  The rest I make during the month are my profits collecting 100% commission every month.

5.  Empower Network 's High Value Products

I have decided to buy these two products,  namely, the inner circle membership at $100 per month and the Costa Ricca Intensive Training Course at $500 one time payment at later dates. Empower Network was launched on 31st October 2011.  In less than 30 days, over $1,000,000 commissions paid out and over 8000 people joined.  It is amazing.  However,  I would not jump in buying all stuff at one time .    I would rather take my time buying one product at a time and doing the business slowly but surely.   This much for today 's post.  See ya in my next post.

6.  Empower Network Stands on Her Ethics

Empower Network is a affiliate program.  You must own the product if you want to acquire the right to sell the product earning commission. Empower Network requires people to own the product, know about the product, use the product, like the product and then refer it.  There are many affiliate programs on the market that require you to own them before you can be an affiliate for.

The Do and Don't of Layaway Plans

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks

Would you rather put holiday spending on your credit card or pay for it through a layaway program? Many Americans are opting for the latter, helping retrench these time-honored payment plans.

Walmart, Sears, Best Buy and TJ Maxx are just a few of the major merchants now offering layaway. In fact, Toys 'R Us has expanded its layaway program to include most toys, rather than just the big-ticket items.

Layaway nearly vanished before the recession, as credit card use grew in prominence. Stores preferred we swipe away because it was easier than handling all that paperwork. But with consumers leery of facing too much holiday debt -- and threatening to spend less this year in stores -- retailers began using layaway as a means of luring us back.

While this all sounds well and good, there are problems related to such programs. Here are a few "Do's" and "Don'ts" you should consider before making the leap.

DO

Do Dissect the Fine Print
You'll have to sign a contract or layaway initiation form, which naturally contains a lot of vital information you could easily overlook. Don't let a long line or impatient clerk rush you through checking each detail so you know what to expect.

Do Consider Whether it's Worth the Origination Fee
There's a fair amount of paperwork, processing and labor involved in layaway plans, so stores charge a start-up fee for each order. Consider the amount of that charge is worthwhile compared to the overall total of your purchase.

Do Decide if You Really Need This Item
Should something happen and you decide not to go through with all payments, you'll likely have to pay a fee of roughly 25 to 30 percent of the total price of the layaway plan. That's a hefty fine for changing your mind, so make sure you really want the item before placing it on layaway.

Do Compare all Fees vs. Credit Card Charges
Add up the potential costs and consider whether you'd be better off placing a purchase on a credit card. According to a New York Times op-ed by Cornell professor Louis Hyman, a typical shopper could wind up paying far less interest by using a credit card, even if it has a fairly high APR. Plus, a credit card gives you purchase protection and, with some companies, price protection.

DON'T

Don't Ignore the Internet
Don't let a sale combined with a layaway plan talk you into buying before researching your options. You'll often find better deals online and it's a lot easier to comparison shop with your mouse. Search for promo codes to use toward your coveted item, and then compare the total cost of the online purchase to what you'd ultimately pay by putting it on layaway.

Don't Neglect Your Expiration Date
There's a limit to how long Walmart will store your stuff. As with other stores, they want to move it before Christmas, so check to ensure you have enough time and cash to pay the entire debt off on time or you'll forfeit everything you've already paid. Mark that date on your calendar and make sure you make all payments before it hits.

Don't Forget About Automatic Withdrawals
Some merchants prefer to set-up automatic checking-account deductions, ostensibly to save you the hassle of coming in to make each payment. In actuality, it's just another way to make sure they get their money. Should one of those payments bounce, however, you'll be socked with a healthy overdraft fee from both the merchant and your bank. Once again, mark on your calendar the date each deduction will be made, so you can double check the balance in your account.

Don't Layway When You Can Pay
It's hard to part with cash during the holidays, when other expenses build up, but the fees you incur with a layaway plan aren't always worth it if you can pay cash now and avoid the hassle.

Join.Empower Network

affiliate program with 100% commission

During the 60s through 80s all people used the one-to-one prospecting and daily cold calling.   Salesmen  walked the streets and knocked at doors to meet people seeking their  potential prospects.   If you are still using this method you are losing your fair share of  your customers and prospects to those who are positioning themselves as valuable resources using the internet.   Friends, no matter what business you are in, your job is to become a producer and distributor of information. The purpose of every internet marketing, traffic generation or advertising is to distribute your information.   When you become the effective producer and distributor of information  you'll get free sales and leads from words of mouth like you've never experienced before... eliminating the need for you to spend a fortune or huge amounts of time on advertising or junk "opportunity leads" like other
distributors.  Here the issue is also 'How To'.

Everyone craves for good, useful "How To" information.  People are absolutely starving for Good High-Quality information.  Where do I begin with in connection with e-business, ebooks and infoproducts?

If you're no stranger to marketing and you would like to make money quick and much more down the road,  I have something outstanding for you.  But before that, I would share with you guys my own struggling in the thinking process of joining a new and unique affiliate program:

Like most readers these days, I was brought up in the boomer culture.  In those years,  the following were common practices:

  •      Writing letter with a pen and a bottle of ink
  •      Communicate with distant friends by written letters
  •       All telephones are landlines
  •      Going to school no car, nor bus but by foot
  •      Cooking with burning wood only, gas later on
  •      Reading newspapers and books
  •      Working very hard to make money
  •      There is no short cut to becoming rich
  •      There is no short cut to quick money

These are the values built in us and they are in our brain cells.   When some body told me that I can make some quick money on the internet, I would put it aside and sit on it.  Wait and see.  Let time to find out if that is true.   This is my way of handing such situation.  Possibly it is yours as well.   The traditional values are deep in our blood.  We are 'out'.  That is the common tag labelled  on us.  I now believe there are grains of truth in that statement.

Today, people particularly the younger generations,  enjoy the benefits of technologies empowering themselves with tools and team up in network.  They do things so different these days, such as:

  • Writing letter on desktop or laptop
  • Communicate with distant friends via emails
  • Wireless and cell phones with multiple functions
  • Going to school by car
  • Attending class via video connection
  • Cooking with electricity or gas
  • Reading news on the internet at home and on the go
  • Paperback books in libraries are replaced by ebooks
  • Working very smart to make money fast
  • Get rich at light speed through modern tools and system

My friends I brought out these differences to bring out the point that the contemporary world with its advances in technologies and changes of people 's value have remodel all business activities.   Things impossible to achieve in the old days are now possible.  Things are done much faster than they were used to.

Now let me switch back to the affiliate program mentioned earlier above.  I sat on it for three weeks watching its development.   The product was launched on Halloween day that is 31st of October 2011.   I was informed that my name was on one of the program mastermind just pending my 'yes'.   Today,  according to a co-founder message to his affiliates, they already acquired over 7000 members and commission issued close to US$900,000 !!!  It is amazing!  It is true because  I watched its  development almost every day from day one.

During the interim, I read, reviewed and studied all relevant information about this new program.   I would talk about them in details in the coming posts in this blog.   Meanwhile, here below are some links for your ready information.   I have sat on it over two weeks and I don't want my friends and buddies do the same and miss the opportunity.  When click the link make sure that the link has 'aushukan'  in it.  It is my Chinese name.  I would talk about the program itself in more details, e.g.What is Empower Network?  the training, compensation, the support, the communities,  the potential in international markets.

Recommendation

Cyber Monday sounds like the title of a futuristic sci-fi movie; an event triggered when robots gain consciousness and attempt to take over the world. Your imagination could run wild if you don't know that last year, Cyber Monday was the biggest online shopping event in history.

With the promise of so many bargains, it's still tough to keep visions of iPads and big-screen TVs at bay. As you prepare to load up your virtual cart with discounted gifts and gadgets, consider some of these Cyber Monday shopping strategies.

1. The Wish List
The most elementary element of any smart shopping strategy is a list. It keeps you on track and prevents unnecessary impulse buys. As with Black Friday, many merchants announce their online offers well in advance. At sites like CouponSherpa, they have a roundup of deals available from popular merchants to help you compile your list ahead of time. They also have special coupon codes available to enhance your Cyber Monday savings.

2. Pre-Shopping
Clever marketers can make a reasonable regular price seem like a steal. They bank on shoppers being swept up in a bargain frenzy, desperately buying to make sure they're one of the lucky few. Before you start loading up your cart, do some comparison shopping. Sites like PriceGrabber.com allow you to easily compare prices across the web and at local stores.

3. Use Protection
Online shopping has become so commonplace we rarely consider the risks. With tons of shoppers eager to transmit credit card information over the Web in one day, scammers are salivating. One easy way to protect yourself is to download the latest updates for your anti-virus and spyware software. Also, confirm any page during checkout is secure by looking for the "https" in the address bar before giving the e-retailer your billing information.

4. Read Up on Rules
Though this online shopping day is considerably more casual than Black Friday, each Cyber Monday offer has different guidelines about when it starts and how many items are available. Being aware of such details ensures you won't sleep through a deal that begins at 12:01 a.m.

5. Under Review
Many of Monday's markdowns are nothing more than attempts to unload junk and make room for something better. When you're shopping for high-priced items like TVs, go to stores and compare features you can't view online, such as picture and sound quality. Try Cnet.com for in-depth, credible reviews of everything from cell phones to slow cookers. When you start to notice a pattern, it's best to pass, even if the deal seems exceptional.

6. Fast Friends
Though there's some debate as to whether or not corporations are people, don't feel bad about taking advantage of their cyber friendship offer by liking them on Facebook. In the days leading up to Cyber Monday, stores post additional offers exclusive to followers. Tracking feeds for a few days keeps you from missing anything critical.

7. Find Free Shipping
When you're shopping online, steep shipping and handling costs quickly cut into your cyber savings. Luckily, merchants are starting to respond to customer demand for free shipping. Best Buy announced in late October that it would offer free shipping on everything over the holidays, and Overstock.com is the latest retailer to offer site-wide free shipping.

8. Keep Your Eye on the Prize
You'll likely be bombarded by a slew of offers for accessories and add-ons as you search for a special sale price on a particular laptop. Typically, the savings on these items are minimal, so buying them later won't make a big difference. Plus, spending an extra $100 on items you otherwise would never have bought quickly counteracts your discounts.

9. Preparation Pays
When you're getting ready to run a marathon, it's essential to prepare with a good warm-up. The same goes for shopping on Cyber Monday, and we're not talking about stretching your mouse-clicking finger. Get ready by bookmarking your favorite sites in advance. Keep them open in different tabs so switching from store to store is easy. If a merchant requires you create an account to make a purchase, do it ahead of time.

10. Read Up on Returns
With deals flying around furiously throughout Cyber Monday, make sure you don't get stuck with any items that don't meet your expectations by brushing up on online return policies. Some major retailers allow you to return online orders to a local store at no extra cost, while other smaller merchants might charge you for return shipping as well as a restocking fee. Return windows are often limited, so it's important to act soon once you've determined an item won't work.

Empower Network Latest Update

| 0 Comments | 4 TrackBacks

26th December 2011

Hello everyone!

Thumbnail image for latest updates .jpg

I wanted to congratulate all of you, we just officially passed the $2,000,000 mark in commissions!  (As of literally about 2 minutes ago this morning).

That's about 56 days since launch (October 31st until now - that math may be one or two days off there - but it's about right).

Here are some quick corporate numbers updates:

Total Affiliate Received Amount: $2,000,098.20

Total Active Customers of the Blogging Platform: 13048

Total Active Inner Circle Subscribers: 5173

Total Active Costa Rica Mastermind Participants: 1794

:)

You guys are doing a great job.

I also wanted to update everyone (quickly) on the merchant account situation here in the USA - as a lot of you know, hopefully ALL of you know, we're moving all of the merchant accounts that were created through First Data to a new provider by January 4th, 2012 (a little over a week from now).

Dave and I have been presented with about a thousand different solutions, about five good ones, and last week narrowed it down to the few that are actually workable with the way we want to help you guys grow the company.  One of those companies has the best solution, and we've been spending a lot of time working on finalizing that deal.

Late last week, I heard news that it was in the final stages of 'number crunching' and we should have absolute numbers here to everyone hopefully here in a day or two.  When you see what we've put together, you're all going to agree that it's a far superior solution for everyone in the company, including YOU.

After we solidify the partnership here and get everyone moved over, we'll continue the international development that we've been working on.  In the meantime, I would encourage everyone who is not in the United States to either use PayPal or AlertPay, while we work on coming up with something far superior.

One thing that we won't do, however, is haph hazardly add international payment options - we've learned that the right way to do it is to go through the right channels, and make sure that a company wants our business and is willing to support our customers - if we can't find something internationally that meets our requirements and is in your best interest, we will custom build something sometime in the next 3-6 months when we have better statistical data.

In the meantime, people are doing well with AlertPay, and we'll stay on the hunt for the BEST solution possible.  Right now about 85% of our business is in the USA, and I feel that when we create the absolute best infrastructure possible, that will flip and more than 90% will be international :)

Exciting times.

We're moving past the 'problem' phase in our company, with 98% of the tech 'glitches' worked out, our server structure has now been problem free since we've turned it back in, the blogging issues now 99% resolved, and with this leap forward in the merchant situation, we're going to be in a really, really good place in January to help you all make a lot more money in your different businesses.

Tonight, be sure and plugin to our Empower Hour conference call, and we will have some more news for you then - it starts at 9pm EST tonight, and you can get in with this info:

Dial in #:  (712) - 432 - 0900
Access Code:  113543#

We'll be having some announcements soon, and I'll see you tonight!  Here's the Swipe for today:

Email Title:

2,000,000 tonight? (live at 9pm EST)

Email Body:

I wanted you to see something

important...

Rising from the ashes of defeat,

many...

...like you...

...have been frustrated, hopeless,

and in despair, yet somehow

overcame, and now, today...

...are about to get paid their

two millionth dollar in

commissions...

...in only 56 days :)

How?

You want to see the movie.
http://empowernetwork.com/almostasecret.php?id=aushukan

There are three things that you

need to have in your business,

if you want the river of abundance

to flow to you like water...

...instantly.

First, you want to have a product

that everyone wants to buy.
Secondyou want to learn the

critical 'secret keys' to selling

lots, and lots of that product...
Third, you want to over-deliver

on your promise, giving people

even more for their money than

you actually promised.
Because when you do those three

things...
...all that's left is to decide to take

massive action...
...and money can flow to you like

a river.
I'm not saying that making

money is easy...
...I'm not saying that everything

is going to be absolutely, totally

simple...
...I'm not saying that riches will

come to you instantly...
Because that wouldn't be telling

the truth...
...and that's not why we've helped

people make almost $2,000,000 in

commissions in the last 56 days...
...it's because we taught them the

secrets, they listened, and more than

just deciding to take action...
...and watching this movie:
http://empowernetwork.com/almostasecret.php?id=username
...and buying this product:

http://empowernetwork.com/join.php?id=aushukan

...it's because they see the vision...
...it's because they decided to do

whatever it takes...
...it's because they realize, that it

is not just about getting lots of money -
getting money is easy...
...when you learn the secrets, are

selling a great product, and are

getting 100% commissions...
(Yes100% of it all...)
...it's more than that.
Tonight, all of the leaders who

have been paid nearly $2,000,000

will be in one place at 9pm EST.

Because we're going to lay out

our plan for 2012.
A plan to help hundreds of thousands

of distributors in hundreds of companies

make more money, recruit more, and

have a better life...

http://empowernetwork.com/almostasecret.php?id=aushukan

Take action.

I just this email from Dave Wood. It will explain everything. Just read it.......

---Fwd Email---

I don't really know what to say right now.  A minute ago, I happened to be logged
in to the back office down at Empower Network...

...and I refreshed the screen:

Thumbnail image for Empower-Network.jpg

admin pic 1

Now I didn't know how much money we had paid out to the people until that moment...

...and I went into a minute of pure suspense. I called my partner David Sharpe - and I
said:

"Dave, Dave - login man, we've almost paid people a MILLION dollars in 3 weeks..."

He said - "no way" So Dave logged in...

...we refreshed the screen.

NOTHING.

...so we refreshed it again. You won't believe what we saw... ...so I'll just show you:

$1,000,221.20 paid OUT to the people... Just decide to take action. I can't tell you the way I feel right now. Because we just pulled off a million dollar launch... ...in 3 weeks.

This launch was different, though.

Why?

Because this launch wasn't about the Gurus - it was about empowering the people.

This launch didn't put $1,000,221.20 into my pocket...

...this launch put $1,000,221.20 into YOUR pocket.

No Gurus participated. This was ALL the people. The nobodies - who have now
became somebody - because the had a dream, and never, ever quit. Congratulations Empower Network.

In 3 1/2 short weeks...

...you and I have changed history.

If you're in the Empower Network, I just wanted to tell you how grateful I am.

You guys have made my dream a reality. We've struggled. We've had legal issues.

I've been in a hotel for 3 weeks straight, and haven't seen my wife almost at all.

We've had merchant issues. We've had international issues. Yet you and I have overcame them all.

Congratulations.

You've done it.

What will we do in the next 3 weeks?

Join Here.

Here's a list of people I could not have done this without (note, that I can't list all 8,324 members of the Empower Network):

First - my wife Ashley. This lady was there with me since the beginning.

She believed in me when I was no one. Because of her, I became someone.

Thank you Ashley.

I love you.

Second, Dave Sharpe - without your conversions genius, there's no way we would have a sales video that gets 25% of everyone who opts in to buy something......you are a genius man - and you were there with me, not sleeping for weeks on end, dumping every bit of
money you had along with myself to make this work.

I appreciate you dude - but it's just the beginning.

Finally, our programmer - I'm not going to mention you by name - but I know you'll see this bro.

Without you, we would be another fatality of technology not keeping up with the people - you rock bro :)  I'd give you a hug - but you think that's wierd :)

Most importantly - these are the MOST
important people in The Empower Network...

...our LEADERS :)

Despite the push to start Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving, midnight Friday is about the earliest most shoppers are willing to hit the stores. Even midnight is pushing it for many of us, though Gap and Old Navy are doing their best to get people shopping on Thanksgiving Day.

If you're the type who can't resist a "doorbuster" bargain, you're more likely to get true deals if you heed our advice and avoid the following seven Black Friday pitfalls.

1. Just Because It Says "Sale"...
...doesn't mean it's really a sale. For example, many stores are advertising blockbuster prices on the Kindle e-reader, but check with Amazon and you'll find there's no difference between the regular and so-called "sale" prices. Do a bit of research before you leave home by comparing the prices between clicks and bricks.

2. Overbuying
Do you fall into the frenzy of Black Friday? Everyone is grabbing and it's so easy to feel you might miss out on a good thing. Remember that list people always tell you to make before heading out? Well stick to it!

3. Not Checking for Quality
Many sale items are of substandard quality. Clothes are a particular example this season, as the increased cost of cotton drove manufacturers to use less of the popular raw material. Many hems aren't properly finished, sleeves are shorter than normal, and manufacturers are using gathered seams to save on fabric. Consumer electronics also are subject to this syndrome. Look carefully before you buy.

4. Ignoring Coupons
There's a reason the Thanksgiving newspaper is the fattest of the year. All those fliers contain some really juicy coupons. If you don't receive a paper or are looking for extra deals, check the Black Friday page of CouponSherpa.com for offers from your merchants.

5. Comparing Apples to Oranges
Naming no names, but some big-box stores order electronics and appliances with a slightly different model name or number, so you can't comparison shop properly. If you want to price check an item, compare features, and not model numbers.

6. Forgetting About Extras
One of the best examples here is the computer printer. Manufacturers like to offer printers at what look like blazingly great prices. Unfortunately, the printer ink or toner will cost the gift recipient more than the printer cost you. The same goes with batteries for larger toys and electronics.

7. Setting Your Sites on Freebies
Babies R Us is offering a free $10 gift card on toy purchases of $75, leading you to add enough items to your basket until you've hit the magic $75 mark. Express gives you $25 in Express Cash when you spend $50, which means you'll likely spend more than the $25 on other purchases. Sometimes free isn't really free.

Thumbnail image for Empower-Network.jpg在我談Empower Network (增強網絡)中的細節是什麼,我想告訴你授權網絡不是傳銷(MLM)。

    你商業成功,
Thumbnail image for Empower-Network.jpgI came across a world class system recently. It is in the internet market three weeks. It is going to revolutionize today 's internet marketing. This system is designed and developed by two college drop-off who are now the superstars in their niche markets. They are already the top earners of seven figures commission income and residual income. However, what make these two young entrepreneurs great is not their make money capability. It is their heart and effort to extend their help to the little ones. Those who are new, those who are unable to make a living online, those who are in need of money and use their body and muscle to earn their living in various walk of life. To make a difference in people, and to turn the global economy around are their goals. With their knowledge and know how through their blog and social media experts a new system is designed and developed and now released for people in need yet with a heart to make a difference in life.

This system is simple to use yet powerfully effective for its performance. People need to do things in order to be successful making money with this new system:

    (1) blogging daily
    (2) telling friends
    (3) collecting money

The rest will be taken care by the system itself. Therefore, even for an average person, the system is incredibly simple to use.

By the way, just refreshing you guys the Basic Characteristics of a Good Affiliate Program

    Residual income commission
Does your affiliate program give you commissions forever on product sold to the customer

    High Commission
Affiliate programs that offer high commission for each sale. For myself, I have found that you need a profit of $25 per sale in order for it to make good money. Affiliate program commissions vary from measles % to 100%. Most affiliate program commissions are 50%. Some ClickBank affiliate programs offer 75% At this moment of writing there is only one affiliate program commission 100%.

    Good Quality
The product needs to be high quality - something that you use yourself or recommend to your family members. Like household brand names, such as IBM, Microsoft, Coke, Dell, as well as quality assurance authorities' endorsement such as CSA approval, BB OnLine Reliability Participation Confirmed, etc. The same concept would apply to the affiliate programs. I would only recommend those I have personally used and happy with. I am most impressed with Empower Network for the product itself, its support, community culture and its 100% commission.

    Highly Recommended Affiliate Programs
Information products are often the best type of affiliate products because they do have high commissions. Many people will give you 50% commissions or more for selling their information product. Now I am focusing within this category. And the affiliate program I like best is offering 100% affiliate commission.

    Conclusion
To sum up, in choosing any affiliate program for making money online should be good mix of the requirements in terms of product itself, its commission and its saleability.

David Au - A retiree far from retiring, empowering people to make a difference and to live better in a world where people help people.

    Something BIG is happening today

    Thumbnail image for Empower-Network.jpg

and I was just given the OK to invite a
    few people I know.

In the last 2 1/2 weeks I witnessed well over
$850,000 in 100% commissions paid out to
regular people, just like you and me.

    Not paid out to pros.

    Not paid out to 'guru's.

Paid out to average people, all over the world.

    The income report is staggering.

    And.....

They've now set up close to 7,000 'plug and
play' viral blogging systems that have simplified the
entire online marketing process down to 3 simple
steps, even the most technically challenged person
    can do.

    It's unreal.

People are doing it .....and making money.

The naysayers have watched in awe.....

....as a new chapter in the online marketing
    world has begun.

Those who have struggled for years have
    shed tears of relief.

Because for the first time ever, and average
person has the same chance as the 'gurus'....

    ......to have freedom.

    ......to have choice.

......to have thousands flowing into their bank account, daily.

    Today you can see how......

.....and watch as they pay out a million dollars
to their members in less than 3 weeks, flat.

    Best of all.....

If you make the right move, you can have a chunk
deposit directly into your bank account just like
    the rest of us.

And these ain't small deposits, either.

We'll actually prove it to you.

You'll see PROOF of part time people making
    upwards of $30,000.

And brand new people making upwards of
    $15,000.

    Even better.....

People who have NEVER made a dime online
making their very first $100 commission.

If you haven't felt that feeling yet.....

    .......you deserve to.

    Good news:

    You can.

    More good news.

Their not just doing 1 webinar today.

    Their doing 3.

So choose the time that works best for you,
    register and show up early.

"A Million Dollars in 100% Commissions" 9pm EST
    https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/196109025

You'll see something unlike anything else out there.

And people are becoming fanatical about it, fast.

Because you don't have to shoot videos.

You don't have to write emails.

    You don't have to 'sell'.

And you don't have to 'set-up' websites.

They do ALL that for you.

You just have to show up, make a decision and
    decide to have a breakthrough..

    And I guarantee this.

    You will NEVER see......

    The Internet
    Online Marketing
    Or....
    Making money

    ...the same again.

    Ever.

    Trust me.

Again, I can't guarantee you'll get in, because

    About The Author: davidsharpe

David Sharpe comes from a past life of struggle and defeat. From fighting the battles and horrors of addiction and alcoholism, he came to a point where there was no where left to go ...except up. He made a decision in early 2008 to change. Everything. And he did. Four years later, he's stayed clean and sober, fought to get his family back and has experienced personal transformation is ways words can't explain. He found the marketing industry (or the industry found him) and after months of struggle, and almost quitting more times than you can count, he made it. It's possible. And anyone can do it. But it takes heart. And David has heart. He literally went from 'Park benches to Park Ave' through the power of marketing influence. You can, too. Join us.

    Life time commission
Very few affiliate program would give you commissions forever on product sold to the customer.  An  example I can think of is sitesell.
I am getting commissions from customers who visited the website months ago, but only now decided to buy something.

Like household brand names, such as IBM, Microsoft, Coke, Dell,  as well as quality assurance authorities' endorsement such as CSA approval, BBOnLine Reliability Participation Confirmed, etc. The same concept would apply to the affiliate programs.  I would only recommend those I have personally used and happy with. I am most impressed with
Empower Network for the product itself, its support, community culture and its 100% commission.

    Highly Recommended Affiliate Programs
Information products are often the best type of affiliate products because they do have high commissions. Many people will give you 50% commissions or more for selling their information product.  Now I am focusing within this category.  And  the affiliate program I  like best is:

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for empower network arrow.jpgJoin Empower Network
    100% commission.

    Conclusion
To sum up,  in choosing any affiliate program for making money online should be good mix of the requirements in terms of product itself,  its commission and its saleability.

I just got the following email from the David Sharpe the co-Founder of Empower Network.com!  It is an amazing SUCCESS story.  I would like to share it with you guys.

Most folks would never tell you about the skeletons in their closet in fear that you might judge them.

Thumbnail image for Empower-Network.jpgWell here's my truth.....

For 10 years of my life I struggled with addiction and alcoholism.

I lived mostly on the streets and in abandoned cars and houses.

I had a daughter at the age of 16 and was separated from her when she was 5.

I felt empty inside and never thought I would get to experience life the way
    'normal' people do.

I was a victim of my own thinking and bad decision making.

    And I....

...on more than one occasion, almost lost my life by way of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

However, in February of 2008 I reached a bottom I had never experienced before.

I was empty on the outside.....  .....and empty on the inside.

I crawled my way into a room where I knew a man and asked him to help me save my life.

    And he did.

After a massive personal transformation, 4 years later and a little blood, sweat and tears......

......I've managed to stay completely clean and sober and change my life around full circle.

I've fought to get my family back, including the most important person in my world.....

    ....my eleven year old daughter.

I'm actually about to run out the door and have a 'dedicated daddy night' with her and grab some pizza :)

    I found love.....

....and plan to spend the rest of my life with Erin, my girlfriend, who has also helped me save my life.

Not to mention when I first started this whole online marketing thing just over 2 years ago......

    ......I didn't even own a computer.

Today it's not like that though.

Not only do I know what it's like to have a defining moment in my personal life - I know what it's like to have a defining moment in my business, too.

I've since gone on to become one of the most sought out trainers, coaches and marketers in the online marketing industry, and built teams in the thousands and produced results on a massive scale.

I invite you 'behind the walls' of my life because I want to share my personal experience with you in hopes that you realize......

....whatever 'monkeys' are on your back.

...whatever struggles you're trying to overcome.

...and no matter how much you think there's no hope left.

I'm here to tell you that there is.

If a 28 yr old homeless addict, who society wrote off as an outcast and lifetime loser can break the mold and seize the moment....

    So can you.

And not only do I want to help you create a permanent change in your personal life...

I want to help you create a permanent change in your business, too.

But you have to do what I did and take action.

I crawled my way into a room where I knew a man and asked him to help me save my life.

    And he did.

    Now it's your turn.

In the last 2 weeks, we've seen the people inside Empower Network display greatness.

They've done things that will be talked about for YEARS to some.

And already, thousands of people have made money.

And it's been deposited directly into their bank account.

Because we want you to be in control of your life ...and your money.

    You work for it.

    You get it.

You do what you want with it.

And don't settle for any less.

    And not just any money.

Our income report is tremendous, and we're proud to show it off to whoever wants to see it.

    Because we're making a difference.

    One person at a time.

    One family at a time.

    One business at a time.

    So......

If you haven't had your first 100% commission directly deposited into your bank account yet, you deserve to feel that feeling.

    We've already paid out $767,899.20 .....

....and we just hit our 6,000 member.

    All in just 16 days.

We've got a couple people who have made more than $30,000.

Several that have made more than $20,000.

And lot's that have made $10,000.

    Best of all....

We've got tons more who have made a few thousand or even their very first sale online.

Sometimes I sit back and think about what would have happened if I never took a risk to ask someone to help me save my life.

    Where would I be?

    What would I be doing?

    Who would I be with?

    If I didn't decide.

Every breakthrough starts with one thing.

    The first step.

    Take it, now.

You will never get this moment back.

    It's your turn.

    Decide.

This is as good as it gets.

We just want to know if you're ready to join us.

If so, we'll be waiting on the other side.

As you would remember  I am sitting on this business opportunity for weeks before I signed up.   I don't want you to miss this great business opportunity.  It is always nice to make more money,  yet it is much better helping more people to make money and have fun.   See you again in my next post.  If you are using Facebook, see you there

Choosing a business opportunity is huge challenge to the baby boomers.  I would share with you guys my own struggling thought process on joining a new and unique Business opportunity.

Boomer are those born between 1946 to 1964.  They are brought up in the boomer culture.  In those years,  the following were common practices:

    •      Write letter with a pen and a bottle of inkThumbnail image for Empower-Network.jpg
    •      Communicate with distant friends with hand written letters
    •      Going to school on feet, no car, nor bus
    •      Cook food with burning wood only
    •      Read newspapers and books
    •      Work very hard to make a living
    •      No short cut to becoming rich
    •      No short cut to quick fortune

These traditional values are built in us and they are in our brain cells.

Today, people particularly the younger generations,  enjoy the benefits of technologies empowering themselves with tools and team up in network.  They do things so different these days, such as:

    • Writing letter on desktop or laptop
    • Communicate with distant friends via emails
    • Wireless and cell phones with multiple functions
    • Going to school by car
    • Attending class via video connection
    • Cooking with electricity or gas
    • Reading news on the internet at home and on the go
    • Paperback books in libraries are replaced by ebooks
    • Working very smart to make money fast
    • Get rich at light speed through modern tools and system

My friends I brought out these differences to bring out the point that
the contemporary world with its advances in technologies and changes of people 's value have remodel all business activities.

Today,  according to a co-founder message to his affiliates, they already acquired over 6000 members and commission issued close to US$700,000 !!!  It is amazing!  It is true because  I watched its  development almost every day.

During the interim, I read, reviewed and studied all relevant information about this new program.   I would talk about them in details in the coming posts in this blog.   Meanwhile, here below are some links for your ready information.
I have sat on it three weeks and I don't want my friends and buddies do the same and miss the opportunity.  When click the link make sure that the link has 'aushukan'  in it.  It is my Chinese name.  I would talk about the program itself in more details, e.g. what it is, the training, compensation, the support, the communities,  the potential in international markets.

Human beings look at the world and see a complex network of interconnected individuals, each with their own autonomy and free will. This perception is a far cry from what credit card companies see. Instead, they view individuals as big bundles of data from which they can profit.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported both MasterCard and VISA are working on plans targeting online ads to consumers based on previous credit card purchases. The idea is you pick up a bag of dog food from the store and charge it to your credit card. When you get home and go online, you start seeing ads for corresponding products and services, like dog toys and dog grooming.

Despite the massive amount of personal data we transmit every day, there are still ways to protect yourself from targeted online ads. Try a few of these tips to avoid the watchful eye of Big Brother.

    1. Don't Over-share
Countless websites and stores ask us to provide phone numbers, email addresses and ZIP codes to help them build a marketing profile. Don't bother sharing your details unless they're essential to your purchase. If the guilt of creating fake information keeps you tossing and turning at night, GuerrillaMail.com provides temporary email addresses that last for just 60 minutes.

    2. Cut Down on Cookies
"Cookie" is an important keyword here. These small files are stored on your computer every time you visit a website. They're the reason you don't have to log in to Facebook 10 times a day and why you see ads for a pair of shoes viewed yesterday when you're checking your email today. Luckily, the Network Advertising Initiative can help you opt-out of advertising cookies. With just a few simple steps, you're able to block major marketers from access to your browsing habits.

    3. Privatize Your Purchases
Don't forget about the main culprits in this personal information panic. All told, VISA and MasterCard process nearly 70 billion transactions each year. All the while, they're collecting and analyzing this massive amount of data. Avoid having your information inspected by opting-out of their analytics programs. MasterCard makes it especially easy; all you have to do is follow this link and opt out of programs in which you don't want to participate. VISA makes it more complicated, but look here for details.

    4. Beef Up Your Browser
In response to growing discontent over privacy issues, popular Web browsers like Internet Explorer and Firefox are making it easier to protect personal information. Their latest versions include a private browsing option you can enable to keep your online habits confidential. The browser then won't store such information as cookies, passwords and files you download.

    5. Leave No Paper Trail
Paperless statements are good for the environment and also good for your security. Not only does online banking eliminate the amount of personal information you dump in the trash, it also lets you track each purchase instantly. It's a smart security strategy to check your online bank accounts often. This way, you can ensure suspicious items don't slip through the cracks.

    6. Get Off the Grid
Credit has practically become our official currency. If you're tired of stressing about credit card security, go old-fashioned. While cash doesn't work online, it doesn't require you share any personal details, either. Gift cards are another good way to avoid using credit. Buying gift cards at less than face value from sites like GiftCardGranny provides instant savings, plus you can use them both in-store and online. Even better, gift cards aren't attached to any of your personal info.

    7. Avoid Auto-Fill
Keeping your credit card number, billing address and shipping address on file at Amazon is handy, but it also makes you more vulnerable. Something simple like forgetting to log out at the library can place your personal details in the wrong hands. Though it's tedious and takes extra time, enter your information anew with each order.

    8. Ensure You're Secure
It's surprisingly easy to confirm an online merchant has secure checkout. Always look for "https" in the Web address, instead of just "http." That extra "s" shows your connection is encrypted and unauthorized users will have to go to greater measures to get your information. You can learn more about site-specific security by clicking the appropriate box near the address bar in your browser.

    Holiday Family Reminisce Tips

LISTENING TO FAMILY STORIES OVER THE HOLIDAYS
CONNECTS GENERATIONS AND CAN HELP CHILDREN WIN BIG

As families get together over the holidays, children can learn a
lot about their family, themselves, and even history when they
listen to the life stories of a grandparent or grandfriend. And
they can win a Lenovo ThinkCentre computer and $25,000 of
EdOptions' educational products when they enter the Legacy
Project's 12th annual Listen to a Life Essay Contest. The
national contest, run in partnership with Generations United in
Washington, DC, also offers free life story resources for
    families.

"This contest gives children and older adults across the country
the perfect excuse to sit down and get to know each other on
a whole other level," says Legacy Project Chair Susan V. Bosak.

Research shows that, for older adults, sharing life stories is a
vital source of meaning and combats depression. In fact,
nostalgia is a natural healing process. You can identify turning
points, accept mistakes, celebrate achievements, and clarify your
thinking about your life. For children and grandchildren,
listening to stories from seniors creates a sense of rootedness
and continuity. It preserves family history as well as influences
a child's understanding of life realities. And young people feel
good knowing they've given the ultimate gift of validating
someone's life experiences. They serve as a witness and torch
    bearer.

Many grandchildren are surprised by what they learn from
    grandparents.

"I see my grandma a lot, but not until this contest did I really
realize who she is," says one of last year's entrants,
13-year-old Kyle MacDowell from Arlington, TX. "I never knew
about her background or what struggles she has had."

To enter the Listen to a Life Contest, young people 8-18 years
interview a grandparent or grandfriend 50 years or older about
the older person's hopes and goals through their life, how they
achieved their goals and overcame obstacles, or key life
experiences. The young person then writes a 300-word essay based
    on the interview.

The Grand Prize is a Lenovo ThinkCentre computer and the winner's
school also receives $25,000 of EdOptions' products. Twenty
runner-up prizes include an MP3 player from EdOptions and $400 of
    products.

Bosak offers these tips for interviewing an older adult about
    their life experiences:

-- Choose a quiet time, like after a family dinner, when there
aren't a lot of distractions. Turn disruptive technologies like
smart phones and TVs off. Listening without interruption shows
    respect.

-- Record the interview or take notes so that you get all the
details and can review them later.

-- Use open-ended questions like "What was it like when...?" and
    "Describe...".

-- As you listen to answers, other questions will come to mind.
Asking follow-up questions will help you get more information.

-- Use memory triggers like old photographs and keepsakes.

-- Listen attentively and don't interrupt or correct. Maintain
eye contact and show interest by leaning forward and nodding.

-- If someone is talking about a painful or unhappy experience,
show empathy through comments like, "That's very sad." Accept
emotion as part of the process.

-- If a person doesn't want to talk about something, that's
okay -- just go to the next question.

-- An interview shouldn't last more than an hour. People do best
when they're not tired. You can always do another interview.

-- Don't forget to thank the person you've interviewed. They've
been generous with their time and perhaps shared personal
information. Let them know you value what they've shared. Write
them a short thank you note later, and even send a copy of the
    interview (for corrections and additions).

This year's Listen to a Life Contest runs to March 30, 2012.

To a very nice girl friend who stands by me over 35 years, Juliana.

The holiday shopping season is upon us, and digital sales experts predict the biggest ever online shopping season for 2011. As a result, consumers can expect a flood of virtual promotions in the form of coupons, daily deals, social offers and free shipping. Add to that increased competition among big retailers, resulting in layaway programs, early Black Friday promotions and price-matching strategies. With all this information to absorb, how will consumers know where and when to get the best prices?

As a nationally recognized media source for all things consumer and money-savings related, I've compiled several holiday segment ideas to help your viewers understand their options for getting the best deals this season. I am available for an in-studio, satellite or Skype interviews and am always willing to discuss new ideas.

For more information about my experience, visit my website at www.andreaworoch.com or follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

    Layaway Programs: A Smart Plan?
Credit card spending nearly banished layaway programs to the dust pile, but they're back at Walmart, Sears, Best Buy and TJ Maxx and other major stores. While layaway may seem a logical way to avoid running up debt, it's not necessarily a money-saving strategy. What you need to know before you layaway:

    • An origination fee and down payment is required
    • Many sale, clearance and/or promotional products may not qualify for layaway
    • Payment must be made in full by the expiration date to avoid cancellation fees

    Black Friday Do's and Dont's
There's an art to conquering Black Friday and it doesn't include joining the early a.m. stampede.
    • Schedule Thanksgiving dinner early to hit late afternoon and midnight sales
    • Research and compare prices as many markdowns are misleading
    • Advertised door busters are limited in quantity
    • e-Retailers will offer free shipping as an added incentive to shop Black Friday sales online
    • Negotiate! 82 percent of consumers who haggled last year were able to score better prices on various goods

Retail Therapy: Holiday Trends that Save You Big
Merchants are gearing up for a promotion heavy season in an effort to increase sales in what's expected to be a close-to-flat year. Here's a look at the new sales gimmicks that could save you big:
    • Price matching PLUS (i.e., Sears and Home Depot will price match competitors and throw in an added 10-percent off)
    • Ubiquitous free shipping offers
    • Extended no-interest loans, up to 6 years in some instances
    • Layaway programs
    • Free merchandise
    • Early Black Friday sales

    Thanksgiving Travel for Less
Americans are expected to spend $100 billion more on fuel this year than in 2010. That'll make turkey-day travel a high-ticket item once again, so it pays to follow a few clever tricks for increasing your mileage and finding better gas prices.
    • Find cheapest gas prices using various sites and smartphone apps
    • Use discount gas gift cards available online
    • Consider credit cards that offer gas reward programs
    • Reduce luggage weight, remove roof racks and check tire pressure

Gift Giving Made Cheap and Easy
Shoppers are dumping the "toy of the year" syndrome and shifting towards more affordable gifts. We'll discuss:
    • The proper etiquette of re-gifting;
    • Sharing a memorable experience;
    • Alternative wrapping ideas; and
    • Where to find discount gift cards for savings of up to 35-percent off.

    DIY - Harvard Known Theory

    | 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks
    Classic quotes 1:
    Harvard has a well-known theory:

    陪伴一生的是自己的名字和那些或清晰或模糊的名字所帶來的感動。

    經典語錄二十:
    從現在開始,聰明一點,不要問別人想不想你,愛不愛你?
    若是要想你或者愛你自然會對你說,但是從你的嘴裡說出來,別人會很驕傲和不在乎你。
    再也不要太在意一些人,太在乎一些事,順其自然以最佳心態面對,
    因為這個世界就是這樣:往往在最在乎的事物面前,我們最沒有價值。

    經典語錄二十一:
    一個人的成就,不是以金錢衡量,而是一生中,你善待過多少人,有多少人懷念你。
    生意人的賬簿,記錄收入與支出,兩數相減,便是盈利。

Were you there during the Beanie Baby Outbreak of '95? How about the Great Furby Epidemic of '98? If so, you have some experience when it comes to holiday gift-giving hysteria.

With the economy still in the doldrums, seasonal madness is subsiding. Consumers aren't breaking down doors to pay a premium for the latest and greatest gadget. This year, shoppers are shifting toward more affordable and thoughtful presents. As you start to plan your Christmas list, consider some of these gift-giving trends.

    1. The Latest Craze
Would you believe the hottest holiday item out there is a rectangular piece of plastic? According to a survey from the National Retail Federation, 57.7 percent of consumers want gift cards as holiday presents, putting their demand at an all-time high. Happily, you can find cheap gift cards at sites like GiftCardGranny, which sells them at less than face value. If you're recipient isn't totally satisified, they can always sell the card for cash on Gift Card Exchange Day, the one-day event scheduled for Dec. 26 when gift card resellers typically offer maximum value for unwanted cards.

    2. An Experience
A close relative of the gift card, the daily deal voucher is making its own name this year. Vouchers allow you to pamper someone with a massage or provide an experience like skydiving without going over budget. If this kind of gift doesn't seem personal enough, take some time to gather important details, like expiration dates and restrictions. This shows you put in more effort than simply clicking your mouse a few times.

    3. What Goes Around Comes Around
Once taboo, re-gifting is now all the rage. It's a great way to pass on presents you'll never use to someone who'll actually appreciate them. Re-gifting can be a risky venture, though. Make sure you haven't lamented to the recipient how much you hate it or, worse yet, forgot they were the kind person who gave it to you in the first place. For some re-gifting tips and hilarious horror stories, check out Regiftable.com.

    4. The Gift of Gifts
The true spirit of the season -- kindness, generosity, caring -- is slowly fading with each years' Black Friday, doorbusting stampede. Break the cycle this year and extend your generosity to those in need. Sites like JustGive.org sell charity gift cards, where the recipient can donate their card's balance to any of 1.8 million charities. Plus, when you give a charity gift card, you can write it off on your taxes.

    5. Learn to Accessorize
The iPad 2 and Kindle are hot holiday items, but they're gifts reserved for those with money to blow. When you can't afford to give someone the gadget itself, you can still make their user experience more enjoyable. If you know someone is going all-in on an iPod, give them essential accessories like a case and headphones. They're going to need them anyway, and it still shows you pay attention to things they value.

    6. A Festivus for the Rest of Us
With so much attention focused on bank account balances, many are choosing to turn away from material goods. Instead of giving individual presents, host a holiday party. Just ask everyone to contribute something easy and affordable, like cookies or dip. This relieves the pressure of gift giving and provides quality time with the people you care about most. To make it a memorable celebration, try one of these Christmas theme party ideas.

    7. The Easiest Gift of All
Though it sounds cliche, there's no better present than the gift of time. Take a step back from indulgent gift giving and do something thoughtful. Rent a favorite movie of everyone in the family and then have an at-home movie marathon together. If you have a family full of foodies, plan a gourmet meal and enjoy each other's company while it's being cooked. Options are really only limited by your imagination.

Talking on a cell phone while driving is dangerous. But a mid-transit chat pales in comparison to the distraction of driving with one (or two!) children wailing in the backseat. Nothing increases adrenaline and quick recall of four-letter words quite like crying kids.

As parents, we can mentally cope with crying kids to and from the grocery store. But long-distance trips need more finesse. Careful preparation and a few necessities can prevent a few glitches and keep your travel going smoothly. As you prepare for holiday travels, make the most of your trip with these handy gadgets.

    1. Snack Container
A signature trademark of a kid-friendly car is a Hansel and Gretel-worthy crumb collection on every surface. If you can overlook this completely annoying parenthood perk, I applaud you; otherwise invest in some creative cups. Munchkin offers an ingenious design with handles and no spill rubber top--two for under $7. Sporting a similar design but with an attachable rope (and additional solid top) is the Spill-Proof Snack Buddy Cup from One Step Ahead.

    2. Window Shade
Getting on the road is tough enough; stopping to shade a sunset shouldn't be on your list of priorities. Grab a light-cutting window shade to curb the brightness. Measure your windows and buy the widest shade possible, making sure you have enough visibility in your back and rear passenger windows. Check out your options at Great Baby Products for window shade reviews.

    3. Lacing Toys
Kids above age 3 (who don't suffer from motion sickness) will work on lacing boards for hours. Growing Tree Toys has a fantastic range of simple lacing activities, like necklaces and ABCs, to complex connect-a-dot boards. Bring a bucket to set in your child's lap so that she can contain the blocks without dropping them on the floor.

    4. Finger Puppets
For the dramatic types in your crew, a set of finger puppets can be a space-saving lifesaver. My favorite are high-quality puppets that tell a familiar story, like Thumbelina or the Frog Prince from puppet master Folkmanis, but folks on a budget can definitely afford IKEA's popular set of circus characters or animals for just $4.99.

    5. Favorite Music
Not your favorite music, mind you. Junior may not appreciate the vocal stylings of Rihanna for hours on end (and, honestly, you shouldn't either). Enjoy some traditional Disney favorites and throw in some award-winning movement songs from Hap Palmer and Joe Scruggs to keep the mood kid-friendly. Bring on talk radio when it's time for a snooze.

    6. Bubbles
So what if you have to clean up the residue later! Bubbles are total fun for all ages, especially when the road seems never-ending. Unless you have an older child, mom or dad needs to commandeer the liquid and blow them toward the back. The best bubbles on the market, hands down, come from Gymboree. These bubbles float forever and the solution never dries out.

    7. Barf Bag
Close to 30% of people are susceptible to motion sickness, and kids are no exception. The barfies can strike at any time--there's no guarantee that your child will or won't get sick on a road trip. Prepare for the worst by investing in a few leak-proof barf bags with fun pictures printed on the outside and show your child how to "cough" into it if his tummy starts to hurt. And bring an extra couple of towels just in case.

    8. Neck Pillow
This is a tricky one. Your younger child may or may not like the feeling of something so close to her neck. Try it on short stroller trips ahead of time to practice. If your kiddo will wear it, she'll be far more comfortable during naps. Pillow companions like the Dora neck pillow attach to the straps of your car seat or stroller, making it a bit more accessible.

    9. Small Baking Sheets
This ingenious idea from Family Fun keeps the ever-present I-dropped-it-on-the-floor wail at bay. Use a conventional (but smaller) lipped baking sheet as a drawing, magnetic and keep-it-all-in-one place surface. Glue one or two layers of foam shelf paper on the bottom to make it less likely to fall and affix white contact paper to the top for the drawing surface. Turn it into multiple activities by attaching magnets to buttons for checkers or bingo games. Older travelers might prefer a more sophisticated travel kit like this one from Martha Stewart.

    10. iPad
No, I'm not a fan of hours of screen time for little eyes, but during a road trip this godsend is a total catchall. From apps for all ages to music and movies, the iPad is the perfect device for tiny travelers. Purchasing gift cards at a discount from sites like GiftCardGranny can help you pay for the pricey device at such retailers as Target and Walmart, who are currently offering deals on iPad 2 bundles. Then, let your kiddos learn letters with Starfall or everything nursery-rhyme cooky from Duck Duck Moose. When all else fails, strap it to the seat and watch a movie.

I got up very early this morning with one thing in my mind.  That is to study in more detail the Renegade System which is a marketing tool given to me upon the purchase of The Renegade Network Marketer ebook..

A month ago I purchased the Renegade Network Marketer ebook.  Actually, it is a package comprised of:

    • Renegade Network Marketer                           ...  the flagship
    • Renegade  System,                                           ...  marketing tool
    • The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing,        ...   marketing tool
    • The Attraction Marketers Manifesto,               ...  marketing tool
    • The Viral Marketing,                                          ...  marketing tool
    • Selling without Being a Salesperson.              ...  marketing tool

You would agree with me there are lot of stuff in the package.   Over one month already, I only flipped through it several times in my computer without going into the details.  Couple of days ago, I printed them out and studied them in more detail.  My purchase decision was based on the excellent impression Ann Sieg gave me upon reading her articles, listening to her audio, and watching her  videos.    I was very happy for what I bought.  Lot of of high standard good substances in terms of marketing concept, tactics, tools and training resources.    The price tag is amazingly low for such high quality information.  It is only $67.

I finished reading  the Renegade Network Marketer ebook.  And I continue on my reading.  Now I read  Renegade System cover to  cover starting from the 'Get Start' ,  I was surprised that there is a walk through video.  Curiosity drove me to jump into it.  I was hooked up there from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m.

My friend, if you want to listen too, here is the link to the Renegade System Walkthrough video.  The Renegade System is marketing tool.   To my surprise its coverage is extensive and instrumental.  I was blown away completely.
I have below its main contents if you prefer reading in great details :
(text abstract from the Renegade System)

    Quick Start Guide

    Step 1:
First and foremost, if you haven't yet read The Renegade Network Marketer ebook, you'll want to stop everything you're doing and go do that right now. Don't even read past step number one if you haven't done that! :)

All of the additional information in The Renegade System Back End will make A WHOLE LOT more sense after reading the book.

If you haven't had a chance to download it yet, you can do so by clicking on the ebook graphic below:

    Step 2:
Creating your own blog as a hub to your online strategy isn't required to make money or generate leads online... but I highly, highly recommend it.

I wish someone had told me this when I was first getting started online years ago because it would have saved me a ton of trouble and helped me make a lot more money faster.

Just one of the many reasons it's to your advantage to have your own online "real estate" that you have full control over is because about 80% OR MORE of the advertising opportunities online AREN'T available to you unless you own and control your own online property! That's a lot to be missing out on.

It also allows you to differentiate yourself from everyone else out there. Remember: If you're not unique in any way, no one will pay attention to you - not the search engines, not other businesses and not your prospects.

Creating your own blog is much easier than many people realize. I recommend building a blog for maximum impact on the online world. If you don't have one yet, we have a video training series that holds you by the hand and gives you step by step guidance from the #1 MLM Blogger in the world! Click on image for more information to access and/or offer MLM Blog Secrets and Code...

MLM Blog Secrets and Code will guide you how to implement the strategies you are learning in the Renegade System to build your Network Marketing Business.

    Step 3:
Once you've begun the process of building your own website and your own list, you can use The Renegade System to help you monetize it.

Or, you can also advertise and send people directly to your landing page in order to generate prospects.

Here are the affiliate urls to promote the landing pages:

(Like The Renegade Network Marketer, if you haven't read and studied The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing, and/or The Attraction Marketers Manifesto - be sure to prioritize that!)

Click here to watch a video walk through of the entire Renegade System.

    Step 4:
For help getting traffic to your websites, you'll want to visit the Marketing Tools pages. There is a separate page for both The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing ebook, The Renegade Network Marketer ebook, and The Attraction Marketers Manifesto.

In these pages you'll find a whole collection of professionally written pre-made ads that are all ready for you to use. Your affiliate urls are automatically embedded in them. You'll also find out how to use these ads with both free and paid traffic generation techniques.

Remember, all you have to do to make a sale or generate a lead is get someone to your landing pages. The system does the rest. Once they visit your website they're "tagged" to you so that even if they come back a year later and purchase, you get the commission.

    Step 5:
Head over to the Training & Resources section. This area of The Renegade System is absolutely jam-packed with tips, techniques and little-known tricks of the trade that will be of enormous value to you as you go about building your business. Make sure to take advantage of everything back there because many people will charge you for this type of information.

Let me just give you a couple quick pointers right now to help you get the most of your efforts:

    •  Before you begin to seriously ramp up your traffic generation, I strongly recommend becoming grounded in copywriting first. You don't have to master it, just get a basic understanding of how to use words that sell. Every method of advertising hinges on this ability. If you're out there snatching up every traffic generation product in sight but you haven't yet learned how to persuade people to take action, you're missing the foundational cornerstone that makes it all work.
    • Do not even think about doing ANY traffic generation until you've learned how to track the performance of all your individual ads. Please, I'm begging you. Save your money if you're not going to do this (the vast majority of affiliates don't). Click on the Tracking section to learn more.

    Step 6:
Begin uploading your affiliate urls for the different resources that are in The Renegade System. Take care of any two tiered programs first as they are the most important.

This feature of the system can be found on the Back End Affiliate Urls page.

    Step 7:
    Check out the Reports section.

This is where you can view all your prospect's contact info, how many sales you've earned, what commissions are pending, how many sub-affiliates you have, etc.

    Step 8:
If you ever need to re-download your ebooks or your free bonuses, just visit the Bonuses/Ebooks page.

    Step 9:
If you have any questions or need assistance, just click on the Help button above. This will take you to The Renegade support suite. Please check the FAQs (frequently asked questions) and knowledgebase before submitting a request for support as 99% of the answers have already been posted and can be found in there.

Doing this just helps our team provide you with a higher level of service as well as a system that is continually improving!

Speaking of, if you have any suggestions or thoughts about anything please let us know by using the form at the bottom of this page. We would love to hear your ideas. It's very important to us that we're constantly receiving feedback from people so that we're able to address their concerns and help them where they need it most.

Do you have any burning questions about how to build your business that need answering? Any topics that you would specifically like to see addressed in The Renegade Newsletter or added to the back end? Just use the form below to submit them.

    Step 10:
Last but certainly not least, I do need to mention our spam policy.

You can only use email marketing if it is to an opt in list or customer list that you yourself have built from scratch and already have an existing relationship with.

You cannot email your Renegade urls to genealogy lists, opportunity leads, co-registration leads, safe lists or any other type of purchased email lead.

If you violate these rules, we won't have any choice but to immediately terminate your account and forfeit any pending commissions you may have.

It's unfortunate that things have to be this way and we don't like having to come across this harsh, but just one or two people practicing illegitimate email marketing methods can jeopardize the entire system for everyone. So we're forced to have a strict zero tolerance policy.

Testing and tracking all of your advertising efforts is one of the single most important activities you can perform to become an effective marketer.

As soon as you start guessing, that's when you're in trouble. Because if you don't track ALL of your incoming traffic sources individually you have no way of knowing what's making you money and what's losing you money.

What many people don't realize is that by faithfully tracking everything, marketing becomes a true science. A pure numbers game. And the formula is simple: You discard the activities that aren't making you money and you ramp up the ones that are.

The Renegade System allows you to do this by creating "campaigns."
    What's a campaign?

A "campaign" is simply a separate way to track visitors, opt-ins and sales for any specific ad or link you use in promoting The Renegade System.

For example, say you run the exact same ad in two different ezines directing people to your 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing landing page and you want to know which one converts better. You would create a separate campaign for each ad.

When you create a campaign, you'll be asked to choose a name and after doing so, the system will create a unique url for it.

So for this ezine example, you may have one campaign url that's:
    http://bob.the7greatliesofnetworkmarketing.com/123abc
    and one that's:
    http://bob.the7greatliesofnetworkmarketing.com/123xyz

By using a different url for each ad, you will then be able to tell how many visits each one got, how many opt-ins, and what the conversion rate was.

You will also be able to view a list of the prospects that entered the system via that campaign. (This can be useful for knowing what ad and what traffic source a prospect originated from - which can tell you a lot about them).

You can create an unlimited amount of new campaigns for both your 7 Great Lies and Renegade Network Marketer landing pages. Just click on either links at the top of this page to begin using this feature and it's reporting.
How To Make Sure You Keep Your Commissions

Something else I would strongly recommend doing is buying some of your own domain names and having your affiliate/tracking urls redirect to them. Having your own domain is CRITICAL to projecting a professional image online.

You can do so through GoDaddy for about $8 bucks a pop. It's well worth it. See the blogging section of The Renegade System for some good tips on how to pick a domain name.

Say you're running some offline ads. Unlike the internet where you can usually have the display url be different than the actual destination url, in the physical world, you have to give the exact url you want the prospect to go to.

Well you certainly can't give a long, ugly tracking url...because no one types in anything after the '/.' All they type in is what's in between the 'www' and the '.com'.

PLUS...they might see your ad and be interested in checking it out but have other things to do at the moment. So if you're using your http://bob.therenegadenetworkmarketer.com/abc123 url and they go online later and try to remember that website they saw in that ad earlier that morning, all they may be able to remember is http://www.therenegadenetworkmarketer.com, without your name or id anywhere.

WHEREAS...if you were using your own domain name, such as http://www.scienceofnetworkmarketing.com, that's the only url they can go to. And then you just have it redirect to http://bob.therenegadenetworkmarketer.com/abc123 or whatever campaign you want.

The "cleaner" the url, the higher your click through ratios will be and the more sales you'll hang on to.

    Marketing Tools
I've assembled a whole collection of pre-made ads, graphics, and marketing tools to help you get going and promote your websites as fast as possible. All of them are "ready to go" as is, with your special affiliate url imbedded in them.

However... even though your affiliate url is already in them... I always recommend using a redirect link with your own domain name. It's not quite as important if your using say, banner ads where the person can't actually see the domain name... but you definitely want to if you're doing ezine advertising or something where the domain is visible. You can register your own domain names at GoDaddy .

I also recommend using a unique tracking url rather than your default affiliate link. This way you can keep an eye on all your different advertising methods and which ones are making you the most money. You can do so by clicking here.

It's time to pull back the spending reigns and prepare for holiday gift expenses. During a time when most shoppers are reducing their spending altogether, it's especially important to make a realistic budget for your gift list.

While the following tips are intended to help you manage holiday spending, many are applicable to saving money all year 'round.

    1. Make a budget!
The National Retail Federation's (NRF) 2011 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey reported that holiday shoppers plan to spend an average of $704.18 on gifts this season, representing a slight decrease over last year. Making a budget is a no-brainer, but challenge yourself to go under budget this year. Track your spending using the Toshl app to keep tabs on what you're shelling out and how much you have left.

    2. Cut down on dining expenses.
'Tis the season for holiday dinners at expensive restaurants, but this expenditure is the last thing your budget needs. Replace the annual white-tablecloth celebration with an intimate gathering at home. Guests can bring a dish to share and everyone can comfortably converse without interruption from servers or obnoxious patrons.

    3. Refrain from personal purchases.
This one is tough during a time when bargains abound, but it's especially important to avoid making purchases for yourself when you still have people on your gift list. That same NRF study reported the average consumer will spend approximately $130 on gifts for themselves. Imagine the dent you could make in your recipient list using that cash.

    4. Reduce everyday costs with resourcefulness.
The toughest part of budgeting for holiday gifts is not letting it eat into the money required for everyday items, including food. Consider developing a menu for the week to reduce unnecessary food purchases, and use websites like Gojee.com to develop dishes around what you already have in your pantry. When you do head to the store to stock up on provisions, arm yourself with printable grocery coupons from such sites as CouponSherpa.

    5. Trim your gift list.
The spirit of the season often yields never-ending gift lists, especially when you're surprised by presents from people who didn't make the cut. Trim your gift list to essential recipients and come up with inexpensive tokens for everyone else. Homemade goodies, cards with heartfelt wishes and offers of service (babysitting, for example) are great options for neighbors and coworkers and can be produced last-minute.

    6. Research gifts to find best bargain.
Santa never misses the mark by making a list and checking it twice, so take a hint from the jolly man in red and do the same. Once you develop a list of essential recipients, bargain shop for gifts before making your final purchase. It's tempting to get all your shopping done over a weekend just to get it out of the way, but doing so means missing out on bargain-rich opportunities.

    7. Know return policies.
Retailers tighten return policies around the holidays, so be sure you read the fine print before making a purchase. Price matching is all the rage these days, too, so it pays (literally) to know a store's policy on compensating shoppers who find better deals elsewhere. Walmart recently announced it will provide gift cards in the amount of the price difference, and Bed Bath and Beyond will even price match items found on Amazon.com.

    8. Shop early...and late.
With all the advice circulating about when to land the best deal, it ultimately pays to shop throughout the holiday season. Make a game plan for Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases with these do's and dont's, and don't forget about Free Shipping Day for last-minute items. The one-day online event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 16 and features free shipping offers from over 2,000 merchants with delivery by Christmas Eve.

    9. Pay with cash.
It's not easy sticking to a budget and the holidays make the task even more challenging. Paying for purchases with credit cards is risky since the "I'll pay for it later" mentality breeds over-spending. Opt to pay with cash and experience your hard-earned money disappear from your finger tips. This sight alone will make you think twice about unnecessary or overpriced purchases, and help you stick to your budget.

DIY - Facelift for My Blog

    | 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks
Yesterday, I did a facelift for  my blog so as to massage and energize it a little big.  If you look to the sidebar, at the very top is a video presentation by myself.   Immediately under is the DIY - eBusiness Solutions for Baby Boomers Newsletter opt-in form.  If you want to subscribe to my newsletter, simply fill in the form.  Then you are done as the newsletters will follow automatically as scheduled.  You can also subscribe through the Google Feedburner by filling in your email address.

The most recent addition to the sidebar is the testimonials section.   Here are the testimonials by people who have read and applied
The Renegade Network Marketer System  into their businesses.  They are just a few samples of those happy experiences  after reading the book.

I also added some of the links I like so much and I highly recommend them to my readers.

The last addition is a video about a new company namely Pro-Elite founded by Jay Kubassek.  Meanwhile, I am collecting more details about this company. By the way Jay Kubassek also was the founder of Carbon Copy Pro.  I successfully applied the application kit.   Now I  spent some time to read and study the details before I would jump on it.

In Guangzhou, one of China's first Special Economic Zones, the best deals are to be found at Canaan Market, the market of the Africans, in the neighbourhood known as "Chocolate City."

Visiting Canaan is like popping over to Africa, from the smells of the food sold by street vendors to the hairstyles of the women shopping. Here one can find the least expensive "Made in China" goods, sold by Chinese as well as by Africans. Both groups, however, wear African-style clothes, so every stall offers a palette of colours that can't help but strike anyone accustomed to the grayness of this city, polluted by the thousands of factories hidden in its belly. All the buyers are Africans, naturally, and many of them still have the dust of that land on their shoes. Since November 2009, Kenya Airways has flown nonstop from Nairobi to Guangzhou. The flight is always full, and many travellers come straight to the market from the airport. The emotion is such that they can't resist.

For an African, Canaan is Toyland, brimming with everything: From the plastic sandals that revolutionized an entire continent, erasing for good the image of African children and adults with bare feet, to the counterfeit Prada bags so appreciated in Soweto, to iPods and pirated videos and CDs. The prices are exceptionally low, accessible to anyone with a little money set aside who makes it this far, the industrial heart of southern China. It doesn't take much to get into the "Made in China" business.

As in all true markets, in Canaan you can always find what you're looking for: From old Singer sewing machines to African SIM cards, even prostitutes for those wishing to distract themselves after a tough day of bargaining. Such days are exhausting, because this isn't a shopping mall, it's an arena, a scene of combat, where the final price is the fruit of hours of discussion, offers and counteroffers, threats and promises. Even simply crossing the rows of stalls is a trial, the vendors tug at you from all sides, piling on offer after dizzying offer.

English is the lingua franca, but in the background one hears the melody of hundreds of African dialects. And the music, blending in with the voices of the merchants and customers from one corner of the market to the other, is African rap. Joseph Nwaosu, a Nigerian exporter, sums up for us what's behind a market like this: When you go to the United States or Europe, there isn't much opportunity. You are going to get a menial job, with barely enough to send home. But here we don't have jobs. We set ourselves up.

Canaan is one of the true marketplaces of globalization, initiated only recently in the global south, far away from the elegant boardrooms of the international banks and the electronic crawl boards of the exchange floors. Canaan is where the future Rockefellers of developing countries come to make deals, not Paris. Born in 2002, this is indeed a market reserved for products from the Third World and directed at the Third World, to which, as we've seen, China still feels itself to belong. What's for sale here, however, is not traditional goods but the same merchandise we find in our own stores, the accessories of globalized life. At one stall there's a pile of hair extensions all ready to be woven in. They look like those found in any Parisian hair salon, even the colours correspond to those in the photo of three models under the large L'Oréal logo. But the only thing French here is the logo. The hair is from India, the treatment occurs in China, and the final touch comes from the African hairdressers who will weave in the hair according to local fashions.

The West forgot markets like this a long time ago. Adam Smith would go crazy here and David Ricardo wouldn't need to write his theory of comparative advantage; a digital camera would be enough to show him the advantages that commerce reserves for nations. Westerners don't come here, however, not even to peek in. And this is a mistake because the market offers us a precious window - anyone who doesn't understand that on these stalls the future of the planet is being built, is either blind or dumb. Canaan has a revolutionary message for us inhabitants of the First and Second Worlds: if you don't wake up, the only nations to make it to the finals of the globalization World Cup will be the Third Worlders.

Excerpted from Maonomics: Why Chinese Communists Make Better Capitalists Than We Do by Loretta Napoleoni, published by Seven Stories Press, 2011.

When it comes to shaving our budgets, most ladies put beauty products in the "need" category. A study commissioned by Mintel validates this assumption, reporting consumers spent $2.32 billion on shampoo and $1.71 billion on conditioner in 2010 alone.

So what's the best way to save on essentials without resorting to dollar-store cosmetics? Here are nine tips to keep both your beauty and your budget intact.

    1. Hair Products
Consider extending the life of your shampoo (and hair color) by using dry shampoo or baby powder in between washes. When using shampoo and conditioner, check out these great tips and best bargain buys from DailyFinance.com.

    2. Hand Soap
Foam hand soap is all the rage these days, and one of the easier beauty products to DIY. Refer to EHow.com's recipe for specific instructions, but ultimately all you need is a lot of water, a bit of soap and a few drops of essential oil.

    3. Makeup Brushes
In addition to extending the life on pricey makeup applicators, regularly cleaning your brushes is just the sanitary thing to do. And if you really need replacements, consider a tip given to me by a MAC Cosmetics artist; buy art brushes at craft stores for a fraction of the price!

    4. Foundation
Whether you're a liquid, powder or mineral foundation girl, you can use less of this beauty staple by applying a base before application. The Magic Perfecting Base by L'Oreal is a favorite among top fashion magazines, and is available for less than $12 from Walmart and Target.

    5. Fragrance
Let's be honest -- designer fragrances are among the most expensive beauty purchases, with $80 buying less than 6 ounces of product. If you can't part with your signature Chanel scent, buy gift cards at a discounted rate for retailers selling your fragrance and enjoy immediate savings.

    6. Body Lotion
Moisturizing is a must for anyone who wants to avoid the shar pei-look at 50, but lotion gets pricey when you see the words "illuminating," "firming" or "age-defying" on the label. Unless you have a serious skin issue, consistent use of most drugstore moisturizers is sufficient.

    7. Hair Color
Prolong your color-treated hair between salon visits using household ingredients. Brunettes can use a strong pot of cooled coffee and blonds can use a lemon juice-water mixture. Apply the treatment after shampooing, let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse, condition and style as usual.

    8. Hair Accessories
Today's trendy hair accessories can be homemade for a fraction of salon and department store prices. Channel your inner domestic goddess and create one-of-a-kind hair candy with beads, feathers and artificial flowers found in craft stores.

    9. Less is More
There's no need to wear your entire cosmetics collection every day of the week. Consider giving your wallet a break by opting for the basics during mellow workdays or lazy weekends. For tips on how to pull off the "au natural" look, refer to Real Simple's step-by-step instructions.

By Lindsay Gaskins, CEO of Marbles: The Brain Store

When you go to the gym, you don't just work on your arms.  You work on the whole body.  It's the same with the brain.  To keep it sharp, you need to cross-train and work different areas.

Playing games, doing puzzles, visiting with old friends and learning a new language are great ways to exercise the brain.  A Mayo Clinic study found that healthy adults who used a computer-based training program to improve brain processing speed and accuracy showed twice the improvement in certain aspects of memory when compared to a control group.  Just like going to the gym, though, you have to motivate yourself and dedicate time to maintain good brain health.

Brain fitness software programs offer engaging and stimulating exercises designed to keep the mind sharp.  They work on processing speed, memory, visual-spatial skills, planning, selective attention (or ability to focus) and word recall.  It's best to use brain fitness software three to five times a week for about 15-20 minutes each session, if you can.  Marbles MindSpring, a new program designed with a team of brain health experts, offers nearly two dozen activities designed to boost and train the brain.

To activate the frontal lobe and boost critical thinking, board games like Telepathy and Wise Alec are excellent.  Trivia games such as Kwizniac, Trivial Pursuit and Wits & Wagers activate the hippocampus, which is the memory center of your brain.  Listening to cues and recalling facts activate this area.  Even an old-fashioned card game, hangman or tic tac toe can give the brain a boost.  What's important is that you keep those neurons firing.

Here are a few tips to boost memory from Dr. Cynthia Green, memory expert at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York:

    1.  Teacher, teacher.  Name all your teachers from elementary school, beginning with kindergarten.  Want more? Move on to middle school, then try high school.  How about your health teacher?

    2.  An old camp favorite:  Take a word, such as "love," and see how many songs you can think of that use the word in lyrics.  Suggestions:  Love, Rain, Angel, Girl, Bird, Sun.

    3.  The List.  This is a very powerful exercise to boost memory.  Write a list of 10 words, try to remember them and then go about your business for about 5 minutes.  After 5 minutes, see how many words you can remember.

    4.  Based on the game Geography.  Name a place, such as a country, state or city.  The next person takes the last letter of that place's name and has to come up with another place on the map.

    5.  Flex your verbal skills and your creative juices by writing your autobiography in ten words.  Try writing others: your parents, friends or famous people.

Back before you were a parent, the end of daylight savings was a welcome relief to pitch black mornings. An extra hour of sleep is more valuable than gold, especially post parenthood. Enter Sweet Bundle of Joy who doesn't share your affinity of snoozing and also has a set, circadian rhythm that doesn't magically readjust over a weekend. Your baby doesn't care that Uncle Sam dictates a useless time adjustment every six months.

As if parenting weren't already the hardest thing anyone has ever done in the history of doing things, we must deal with the time change and our children. Here's what will happen, if you're new to fall-back with children: they wake up after the same number of hours of sleep. So if Junior typically wakes up at 7:00 am, you'll now have a 6:00 am early riser after the change. Start gearing up for that adjustment now with these six easy tips.

    1. Extend bedtime a little later each night.
Folks who prefer to rip the band-aid off may just push through a few tough days and move bedtime forward a full hour immediately. Older children can handle a change like that a bit easier. But if you you have a baby or toddler, I recommend pushing bedtime back by ten or fifteen minutes for a few nights. This will take some discipline, but establishing a solid bedtime routine and sticking to it is not only important for your sanity, but for your child's health, too.

    2. Expect grumpy toddlers for up to three weeks.
Again, the younger the child the longer it will take to adjust. According to multiple studies, poor or inadequate sleep causes irritability, stress and anxiety. No big surprise there. Pile on top of that an inability to verbally communicate and you've got a cranky young child on your hands for days, if not weeks. Just brace yourselves and prepare to expect some rocky terrain.

    3. Reduce other variables to focus on sleep.
Kids do really well when they have time to hone in on one skill or hurdle at a time. If you're potty training, pull back on the reins for a while to let the lack of sleep pass. Trying to concentrate while sleep deprived makes you ineffective and irritable -- and the same goes for Junior.

    4. Get room darkening shades or curtains.
Kids sense morning like sharks smell blood; the tiniest crack of daylight can wake even the hardest young sleeper. Keeping it dark in your child's room will encourage more sleep in the morning, something you'll want all year round. If you're not a fan of drapes, grab online coupons for custom blinds from sites like CouponSherpa, and outfit your windows with tailored dressings on the cheap.

    5. Consistency is key.
It's tempting to give in to Little Darling when she pitches a fit for candy at the grocery store. If you give in to her demands, she'll just ratchet up the decibels on your next visit. That same principle applies to adjusting your clocks back. Stick to later naps and a later bedtime to avoid prolonged pain. According to Kim West, social worker and sleep coach, children will adjust to your age-appropriate sleep requirements when you are consistent. This means having the exact same routine every night and responding in the same way to your child's testing.

    6. Minimize exposure to artificial light.
There's solid evidence that exposure to artificial light limits the production of melatonin, a key hormone in regulating the sleep/wake cycle. This goes for TV too. Cut the pre-bedtime cartoons and opt for relaxing, sleep-friendly activities like reading or puzzles.

The obviously American gentleman was eating dinner while reading at a cozy French restaurant, but I just had to interrupt with a somewhat rude question: "Why do so few older men travel alone in Europe?"

I'd been on the road for two months, touring the world as a travel writer, and this was the first American male I'd seen flying solo. He responded with just one word: "Fear." I thanked him and went on my merry way, only realizing later I hadn't asked, "Fear of what?"

The flat fact, however, is that older women are more comfortable traveling to foreign countries without a partner or tour group. You see them sitting in cafés, diligently scribbling in their journals and taking in the passing scene with genuine smiles. I formed easy friendships with many of these women everywhere from Abu Dhabi to Krakow, and learned quite a few frugal foreign-travel tips, which I'm delighted to pass on to men and women alike.

    1. Hostels
I can't stress strongly enough how much cheaper and more enjoyable it is to stay in a hostel. Other overnight residences are not only more expensive, they tend to segregate you from the reality of a city or region. Hostels throw you right into the mix, which nowadays includes travelers of all ages -- not just the young.

Hostels usually provide breakfast, the heftier ones yielding leftovers from which you can use for lunch. Free Wi-Fi access and front-desk workers who can point you to unique sites worth seeing round out the many benefits of staying in a hostel.

To make reservations before you leave or while you're on the road, Lonely Planet and Hostel World allow you to search by location, price and type of hostel, with photos and a description of the accommodations.

    2. Food
Shopping local markets is a great way to interact with residents, learn about new foods, and how to prepare them. It's amazing how easy it is to converse about food when you don't share a common language.

You'll want several Ziplock bags of varying sizes to store bread and dry foodstuffs. In France, I'd make a to-die-for baguette sandwich with any of their hundreds of cheeses, then stuff it into a large bag for train travel.

A couple extra tips: If you're heading to Spain, I found a cheap and delicious dinner of tapas came free with sangria orders placed during "happy hour." Most stores in Arab countries will offer you a cup of coffee just for stepping across their threshold, should you need a caffeine jolt while shopping.

    3. Guide Books
Thanks to online guides, there's no need to fill your luggage with heavy books. I printed out the pages I needed and created a list of vital foreign words I'd need, like "please," "thank you" and "How much does this cost?" Omniglot has an easy-to-use website that will get you started.

Lonely Planet has some great PDF guides and you can buy them by the chapter (roughly $5 each). ArrivalGuides.com and Hostel World offer free online guides, but they're not as comprehensive and the selection is limited.

If computers aren't your thing, buy a bound guidebook, read it, and cut out only the pages you'll need.

    4. Trains
Boy do I love train travel. It's cheaper than renting a car or flying, helps you meet new people, and usually drops you off close to the action in major cities. The trick, if you're traveling to a rural destination, is to know the stops before your destination so you can be ready to hop off at a moment's notice.

Another couple handy phrases you should learn in each language are "How much does a ticket cost?" and "From which platform does the train depart?"

It's best to buy your Eurail train passes before leaving as it's cheaper in the United States. My pass ran out once, however, and Eurail provided free shipping on the second one.

    5. Money
Rule number one: Never, never, never exchange money at the airport. You'll pay the highest rate possible. Instead, look for an airport ATM and take out the maximum amount (usually around $200). You'll pay a fee, but not nearly as high as the airport exchange rate.

Rule two: If you're going to travel a bit upscale, buy gift cards at a discount from sites like GiftCardGranny to purchase American services found in foreign countries. This might include airlines, hotels or car rental agencies for which you can realize up to 25-percent savings.

    6. Plastic Safety
Notify all credit card companies you plan on traveling outside the U.S. so they won't place a hold on your account for unusual activity.

Finally, note your credit/debit card numbers and foreign contact phone numbers and keep this info in a safe place, separate from the cards. I stored mine in my email account with a bogus "subject" line. You might need this info should your plastic be stolen or problems arise.

That's about it, except I highly recommend you keep a journal. Traveling alone is lonely at times and writing out your thoughts and experiences helps fill in some gaps. As a bonus, you'll have a personal record of your adventures.

    Happy trails!

Furnaces are kicking in across the U.S. as temperatures sink. Alas, keeping warm comes with a higher sticker price each year, no matter what type of heating system you use. According to CNN Money, the average bill for a home using heating oil is more than $320 per month while gas users fork over $160 monthly.

Here are some thoughts on how you could lower your heating bill without freezing your way through the winter.

    1. Energy Audit
The first step is to assess any problem areas. Ask if your utility company provides a free or low-cost energy audit, which will identify changes you should make. If you such audits aren't available, there are still ways to ascertain problems for yourself and small projects you can accomplish without professional help.

    2. Seek Incentives
Some states offer improvement incentives, including providing and installing a free programmable thermostat; paying a portion of insulation upgrades; or providing rebates on the cost of materials. Look for such offers at the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency. If you can't find an applicable program, you can reduce the cost of supplies by finding coupons for major home improvement centers, hardware stores, big-box stores and more at such sites as CouponSherpa.

    3. Change Furnace Filters
Many of us think of changing our furnace filters just once or twice a year, yet experts say we should replace them every month during the heating season. Better yet, switch to a permanent filter you can clean regularly.

    4. Dodge the Draft
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, you can waste 5 to 30 percent of your energy use to heat the great outdoors through drafts. The simplest remedy is to place draft dodgers or snakes at leaking doors. You can use an old towel or make your own easily out of a leg of pantyhose stuffed with rice or sawdust and tied at both ends. To find air leaks, place a light candle in front of possible drafts, have someone blow through the crack from the other side, and watch to see if the flame wavers.

    5. Weather Strip Thresholds
Draft snakes are fine for cracks at the bottom of doors, but we often lose heat at the sides and top of doors and windows. Check out this Dummies.com video explaining how to install weather strips.

    6. Install a Programmable Thermostat
A programmable thermostat allows you to keep the house cooler when it's empty and automatically turn up the heat before you arrive at home or get up in the morning. The Nest Learning Thermostat represents the latest and greatest in programmable thermostat technology, but you don't need to shell out $249 to benefit from one of these gadgets. You can pick one up for as little as $20 and save an average of 10% a year on your heating and cooling bill. Check out this article for other high-tech ideas for keeping warm this winter.

    7. Upgrade Your Attic Insulation
Roofs are energy vampires. They'll suck rising heat right out of your home, if not properly insulated. Types of insulation include the standard fiberglass (in both batt and blown forms), rigid foam board, spray foam and cellulose. Unless you're handy around the house, this is a project best left to professionals, but it's the best investment you can make to reduce future energy bills.
