Are you looking for a tax-effective way to transfer funds to your child or grandchild to help them pay for their education or their fist home? Consider using an exempt life insurance policy that allows for cash accumulation. You'll be providing insurance protection on your child's or grandchild's life, while maintaining control of the policy as it builds up a tax-advantaged cash accumulation that they can use to fund their education or home purchase - once you are ready to transfer the ownership of the policy.

While using a trust to transfer wealth to a younger generation can be costly and time consuming to establish, using an exempt life insurance plan can be very effective, both in terms of cost and the time it takes to set up. And a cash value, exempt life insurance plan offers yet another advantage over a trust - it allows you to maintain control of it until you decide the time is right to transfer the policy, along with it's cash value, to your child or grandchild. On the other hand, trusts typically allow you to maintain control only until the child reaches age 18.

Usually, when a life insurance policy is transferred from one party to another, a disposition is deemed to occur, and a taxable policy gain may occur. Fortunately, when a life insurance policy is transferred to the child of a policy holder, special provisions in subsection 148(8) of the Income Tax Act apply to the transaction, thus avoiding any taxable policy gain.

Let's consider an application of a cash-value life insurance policy to transfer wealth to a younger generation ....

Grandpa deposits $5,000 a year for 10 years into an exempt life insurance policy. In 10 years, when granddaughter is 18 and eager to continue her education at university, Grandpa transfers the policy to her. Granddaughter can then withdraw the cash value Grandpa built up in the policy to fund her education. Granddaughter is in a low tax bracket at this point in her life, so the net withdrawals are maximized. As the Income Tax Act restricts the amount of tax advantaged cash accumulation permitted within an exempt life insurance policy, there may be limited opportunity to create the desired cash value if the life insured is a young person. As a result, the amount of money you desire to tax-shelter within an exempt life insurance policy on a young child's life may exceed the amount of life insurance actually available on that child's life, due to financial underwriting limitations. To overcome this obstacle, Grandpa could have made his adult daughter the life insured under the policy as she is likely eligible to be underwritten for a greater face amount of life insurance. Grandpa could still roll the policy over to Granddaughter at age 18 on a tax-exempt basis, because the conditions listed above are still satisfied.

It's important to note that the policy holder must be alive at the time of the transfer. If you attempt to have the transfer executed under the terms of your will, the policy will not directly roll over to the child, but to your estate, instead. To prevent this situation from arising upon your death, you could name the child as the successor owner of the policy. This way, upon your death (the death of the policyholder), the policy will not be considered part of the deceased's estate.

As we've seen above, an exempt life insurance plan can do more than simply provide a means for you to leave a legacy to your heirs; a tax-advantaged cash accumulation life insurance plan can also be used to transfer wealth between generations in a very tax efficient manner!

Treatment for enlarged prostate...no need for surgery....side effect, male potency !!!    Who wants to try??

This was originally aired 2 years ago (2005) on CBC Hemispheres. A unusual story from Taipei, Taiwan about a treatment for prostate problems. I had to record it because it was just so amusing and bizarre. Its based on Qigong (Chi Gong) healing techniques and is said to shrink enlarged prostates and result in healing and improved sexual functions. Very funny story, complete with, oh yes, the classic "truck pull". Credit goes to: Eric Campbell from Australian Broadcasting Corp. (ABC).

Tang dynasty was one of the most prosperous period in Chinese history.  People and horses were very chubby because they were well fed.  Poetry and music were important part of people's lives.  Japan sent monks to China to learn.  Today's Japanese old houses, temples and kimonos are fine examples of Tang dynasty styles.  I hope you'll enjoy the new Tang Dynasty Theme Park in Xian, China even though the descriptions are only in Chinese.

Here is another email I got yesterday.  It is from  Pam recommending her site  RecordsProject.com, a site providing free links to public records in cities and counties across the United States.  She wanted to reach out to people  about a campaign to teach people how they can find relatives and family members using free public records.

Many of my readers, including birthmothers looking for adoptive parents and adoptees looking for their birthparents, are probably looking for ways to find relatives easily without any cost. It is a step-by-step guide http://recordsproject.com/find-anyone-online/ that provides links to valuable resources in a visually appealing format. You can take a look at the visual graphic and blog post at the URL above.

Thank you Pam for sharing this useful content.

Again thank you Pam and best regards.
I got an email from Amber.  Thank you for sharing with me as well as friends and readers here the information re some new Care Innovations for seniors and boomers:

Senior citizens are increasingly lonely, and it's a serious problem. According to a study by the Public Library of Science Medicine - loneliness as a health risk factor is twice as detrimental as being obese, and equal to the risk of smoking cigarettes and alcoholism.

That's why Intel-GE Care Innovations recently launched Care Innovations Connect, an easy-to-use, tablet-based digital platform that aims to combat social isolation among seniors. Care Innovations is a company formed from a combination of GE Healthcare's Home Health Division and Intel's Digital Health Group.

To learn more about GE's Care Innovations Connect, please see the story here: http://www.gereports.com/facebook-for-seniors-battling-social-isolation-and-loneliness-among-the-elderly-with-a-tablet/

Again, thank you for sharing.  Have a happy Friday!

    The"Y" Generation

People born before 1946 were called The Silent generation.

People born between 1946 and 1964 are called The Baby Boomers.

People born between 1965 and 1979 are called Generation X,

And people born between 1980 and 2010 are called Generation Y.

Why do we call the last group Generation Y?

    Y should I get a job?

Y should I leave home and find my own place?

Y should I get a car when I can borrow yours?

Y should I clean my room?

Y should I wash and iron my own clothes?

Y should I buy any food?

But a cartoonist explained it very eloquently below...

Early this morning as I watched the morning news, I learned that Chinese launched her first aircraft carrier. It marks the her entry to the aircraft carrier club consists of  USA, British, Spain, Italy, India, It is a symbol of military muscle and would cause concern not just in the region but also the world as highlighted in the international news

As I checked my emails this morning,  the following article caught my attention.  I am sharing this with all my readers.  Enjoy and have good day.

Hi David,

oldmenonphone.jpgThe older I get, the more I appreciate the body of my youth. As a Baby Boomer dealing with hearing loss (too much rock music), memory loss (not enough Gingko), and unbending knees (too much biking), I appreciate every bit of senior assistance. That gratitude extends to manufacturers developing products tailored for those with reduced capacity or not familiar with our rapidly changing tech world. While some of the following examples weren't originally designed with America's elders in mind, they still offer great benefits to those who don't want to get totally left behind.

Here are seven changes age hath wrought in today's technological world.

1. Dumb Phones
I was bereft when my ancient Razr phone disappeared as it was so easy to use and is no longer available. In looking for a replacement, I found most phones have tiny black buttons and keyboards designed more for texting and playing online than for making calls. Some manufacturers are listening to these concerns, however, and creating phones specifically for my brethren. According to cnet.com reviews, the Doro PhoneEasy series offers basic, easy-to-use phones with big numerals, a bright screen and few unneeded extras.

2. Intelligent Phones
Intel is working on a phone for those who have memory problems. Using caller ID tech, it'll display a photo of the person calling, the user's relationship to the caller, and information about their last conversation. It would be even more helpful if Intel would create a human-implant screen that would jog my memory upon meeting people I "know."

3. Nana Technology
Companies like Accenture and Intel have teamed up with universities and other researchers in the development of gadgets that make life easier. These include smart walkers users can retrieve by remote control; pillboxes that remind you to take your pills; and mailboxes that let you know when mail has arrived.

4. Tablet Computers
I'd give my AARP membership for an iPad. The screen is a joy, the touchpad keyboard is nice and big, and, most importantly, it's entirely intuitive. Apple's security technology also nearly eliminates spyware and viruses, which are a nightmare to eradicate.

In general, touchscreens are easier for seniors to use. It took me just 30 minutes to get an elderly friend up and running on her new Motorola Xoom tablet. Unable to type anymore due to arthritis, the light touch required for these screens opened a whole new world. We loaded a few useful apps, made Google her home page, set up a gmail account and she was off.

5. E-readers
Few books are printed in large type anymore, but e-readers can make every book easy to read. The Kindle, for example, allows users to boost the font size with a touch of a button and the resolution improves with every release. The Barnes & Noble NOOK boasts a full-color display that makes reading even easier.

6. Durable Tech Cases
Otterbox. has cornered the market on hardcore cases for phones, e-readers, laptops and just about everything else that can be dropped, smashed or end up in water. They also have a stellar reputation for quality customer service, which means seniors don't have to deal with smarmy, unhelpful responders.

7. Online Shopping
Shopping the e-commerce way is so much faster and easier for those facing diminished capacities. Plus, the selections are much larger, it's often also possible to find better prices, and free shipping codes bring your purchase directly to the door without a delivery fee. Isn't technology wonderful?

Have you  Ever seen a baby porcupine?

porcupine.jpg
Fable of the Porcupine

It was the coldest winter ever.  Many animals died because of the cold.

The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.

After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth.

Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities.

The moral of the story is:

Just learn to live with the Pricks in your life!

Affiliate Network
Now,  the highlight of attention is  affiliate networks which put together a whole lot of affiliates with merchants.  These are the sources for thousands and thousands of  merchandizes and they are free to join.  The main affiliate networks are:

Mainstream products. Many of the big companies have programs in here, but there aren't very many lifetime commission products, or high commission products.

pioneered online affiliate marketing, and today runs the largest pay for performance affiliate marketing network on the Internet.   Linkshare  provides all the tools and services merchants need to create, manage and optimize a successful affiliate marketing program.

With over million partnerships in the network it is the most successful pay for performance network of its kind. Access Merchant information or Affiliate information above to find out how you can become part of our winning network today.

Basic Characteristics

1. Lifetime commissions.
Some affiliate programs give you commissions on every product that is sold to the customer forever. A great example of this is SiteSell. I am getting commissions from customers who visited the SiteSell website months ago, but only now decided to buy something.

2. High Commission
Affiliate programs that have high profit for each sale. For myself, I have found that you need a profit of $35 per sale in order for it to make good money. e.g. iPowerWeb earn US$65 per signup. and Satellite TV Affiliate Programs - A Simple Path  to Freedom earning US$50 per customer referred.

3. Good Quality
The product needs to be great quality - something that you use yourself or recommend to your family members.  This can be household brand names,
such as IBM, Microsoft, Coke, Dell,  as well as quality assurance authorities' endorsement such as CSA approval, BBBOnLine Reliability Participation Confirmed, etc.

Highly Recommended Affiliate Programs:

Information products are often the best type of affiliate products because they do have high profits. Many people will give you 50% commissions or more for selling their information product.  The four programs I  like best are : SiteSell.com, Internet Marketing Center  Survey Scout

The top Money Makers to get you started readily earning commission 45-50%

Wireless Notebooks

What You Need To Know About Going Wireless!
By Titus Hoskins

It's not exactly breaking news that our world is becoming
increasingly wireless. Many of our daily activities that
once needed a wired connection can now be done wirelessly!

The cell phone craze was probably the first revolution that seemingly happened overnight. The convenience of being constantly connected or plugged in to the your business,  friends, or family was an undeniable need that was quickly met. For many people it has become a necessary in their daily lives.

Wireless computers, notebooks or laptops may just be the second wave in our struggle to becoming a totally wireless world. The ability to be constantly connected to your business and/or loved ones is revolutionizing the way we use computers and the Internet.

The ultraportable, versatile little notebook computer, will no doubt play a major leading role in our wireless struggle to be constantly connected. It's the 'portability' of the notebook or laptop computer that holds the most appeal and is its major selling point. And its popularity is growing.

It is estimated that over 42 million computer notebooks will be produced this year in 2005. The market for laptop and notebook computers is growing at a rate of 20% each year according to Taiwanese notebook makers. And they should know -- they make 70% of these notebooks or their components for such major players as Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Gateway.

But it's the portability and wireless communication these devices offer that's increasing their popularity among most users.

Just how is this wireless communication accomplished by the notebook or laptop you ask?

Wireless notebooks uses three major wireless data standards in order to transfer data. The one that is probably most common is 802.11b, also called Wi-Fi which stands for Wireless Fidelity.

Wi-Fi or 802.11b transfers data wirelessly at a maximum rate of 11Mbps for up to 150 feet. It uses the 2.4GHz radio spectrum and although it says 11Mbps, you will probably only get around 4-6Mbps in actual use.  But this is enough bandwidth for high speed Internet, gaming and most file transfers.

The 802.11a is another standard that uses the 5GHz radio spectrum,  so it has 8 channels available instead of only 3 that's available with 802.11b. The 'A' version also permits a larger transfer, at a maximum of 54Mbps.

The other standard, 802.11g, is a hybrid of 'A' and 'B' -- its also capable of 54Mbps but it uses the 2.4 GHz spectrum and is compatible with 802.11b devices. Some notebooks like the Fujitsu LifeBook N6010, have a tri-mode 802.11a/b/g wireless system that uses all three forms! The next technology in Wireless Communication is 3G EV-DO! Sounds like one of those funny robots from Starwars -- but it stands for
evolution-data optimized.  This new technology will change how we view and use the world wide web.

Verizon Wireless 3G EV-DO began commercial operations in Oct. of 2003 and is now expanding to over 125 million US consumers by the end of 2005. With download speeds of 400 to 700 kbps and bursts up to 2 Mbps, 3G has really given us wireless Internet this time. It has or will turn the Internet into a truly wireless system that's devoid of any cables or lines. It will be everywhere -- no space within our biosphere
will be without the Internet very soon.

Of course, it should be kept in mind, that any group of computers can be made wireless by using a wireless router and a wireless network adaptor for each computer. Also, many notebooks and computers come with a Bluetooth module, which allows for wireless communication between any sort of electronic devices -- from cell phones to computer to stereos to headphones.

However, if you're setting up a wireless network or if you're using your wireless notebook or laptop at hotels and airports -- security will be a concern. Anyone within distance, possessing the right equipment and a little ingenuity may get access to this wireless system. For major corporations or the lowly homeowner; safeguards need to be taken to prevent unwanted visitors from interrupting your peaceful wireless
universe.

There are usually two basic methods of securing wireless networks, WEP and MAC address filtering. The MAC (Media Access Control) is the physical address or unique hardware identifier given to each device in the network. Then you manually enter a list of addresses that can use or access your wireless network.

The other filtering process is more secure, WEP or Wireless Encryption Protocol requires a shared key between the users and then using this key to encrypt and de-encrypt data that's transmitted between your network users.

Many major hotel chains and other businesses are now offering 'Wi-Fi' services as an added convenience to their patrons. These 'hot spots' are popping up everywhere, even at some gas stations. You may need to sign in or get a password or key to access these services.

But like your cell phone conversations, any radio transfer or transmission will not be as secure as a wired connection. Keep this in mind if privacy is a major concern for you. But don't let it stop you from enjoying the convenience, portability and practicality of your wireless notebook or laptop.

It's a wireless world after all.

| 2 Comments | 0 TrackBacks

Niche Marketing -

Going Deep Into Obscure Topics

By

The concept of niche marketing has been around for some time. Lots of people now make money out of small sites that revolve around very specific topics. Like everything else online though, this income generating model has evolved for the better. Whether you've been into this for years or just discovering it, you can capitalize on better strategies.

In the past, this field used to be less complicated. The basic idea behind it was to look for underachieving market areas. These venues for making cash were around but often had low marketer competition because they had obscure topics. Clever marketers would pick these lesser known areas, research on the level of customer presence or need and then make or find e-books to sell in relation to them. In most cases, those who used this niche internet marketing model settled on a wide array of topics. They could have close to a hundred or even more mini sites, each with specific products to sell. Spreading wide was necessary in order to earn more.

A newer approach to this model no longer requires marketers to spread wide. They can now choose to focus on fewer specific topics. This can make better sense, considering that it is easier to promote or market a limited number of sites. Some however are doubtful that they can succeed at this new approach. This is simply because mini sites with obscure topics don't have a lot of customers. How can marketers make a lot of cash when they only focus on limited niche markets? The answer is simpler than you think. All that needs to be done is to go deep into your limited areas of concentration.

Going deep doesn't mean you have to create bigger, more complex websites. What it means is that you just have to find other new products to sell to your existing customer base. Depending on your topic, people who have bought your primary e-book may be more than happy to buy other information products related to the topic of your site. This strategy will allow you to manage fewer sites without necessarily subtracting from your profit potential.

This newer approach to niche marketing will obviously require a little more effort. You need to spend more time on market research before you even launch a site. What you need to determine now besides the existence of a customer base is the depth of a specific topic. Some topics are shallow in the sense that you can only sell one or two related products. An e-book about heartburn for instance is somewhat of a dead end because there is little else that you can sell your customers after they've found out how to solve heartburn. Always look for a topic that has various branches to it that passionate individuals would be happy to discover.

People still actually make money out of the old niche internet marketing model. If you want to improve the way you manage your sites and the manner in which you generate income, you should explore the new approach to it. You might find this a far better way of doing things.

INFO AND WATCH OUT THE DANGER OF HEPATITIS-A   OUTBREAKS ASSOCIATED WITH  EATING RAW OR UNDERCOOKED GREEN ONIONS (SCALLIONS) !!!

Questions and Answers on Hepatitis-A   Outbreaks
Associated with Eating Raw or Undercooked Green Onions (Scallions)

1.        What did FDA announce today? FDA advised consumers that three recent hepatitis A outbreaks have been associated with eating raw or undercooked green onions (scallions).

2.        Does this announcement apply to all products containing green onions? No... It only applies to raw or undercooked green onions or products containing them. Commercially prepared products, such as salsa in jars, have received a treatment that eliminates the hepatitis A virus.

3.        What can consumers do to decrease their risk of infection from hepatitis A caused by contaminated green onions? Consumers can cook all raw green onions thoroughly before eating them. This minimizes the risk of illness by reducing or eliminating the virus. Consumers can also avoid eating raw or lightly cooked green onions. Consumers who wish to avoid undercooked green onions should also specifically request that raw or lightly cooked green onions not be added to their food prepared in restaurants.

4.        Should additional precautions be taken by people with chronic liver disease or weakened immune systems such as patients undergoing chemotherapy or AIDS patients? Persons ! with chronic liver disease or weakened immune systems are not more likely to acquire hepatitis A. However, persons with these chronic illnesses sometimes have a more severe form of hepatitis A. People with chronic liver disease or weakened immune systems should consider avoiding raw or undercooked green onions until the cause of green onion contamination has been identified and corrected. All persons with chronic liver disease should get hepatitis A vaccination (see below).

5.        What caused the outbreak of hepatitis A in the Pittsburgh area? The State of Pennsylvania , the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and FDA are working together to investigate this outbreak. As of November 15, 2003, the investigation is not finished, and it is not yet known what caused this outbreak. Investigators are now trying to determine if the outbreak was caused by a contaminated food such as raw or undercooked green onions.

6.        Has FDA asked the restaurant industry to do anything in response to these outbreaks? Yes. FDA has informed the restaurant industry of the association of hepatitis A with raw or undercooked green onions in recent outbreaks so that restaurants can take actions to protect their customers.

7.        What are the symptoms of hepatitis A? The average incubation period for hepatitis A is 28 days (range: 15-50 days). This means that symptoms of hepatitis A develop within 50 days of exposure.. Persons with hepatitis A virus infection may not have any signs or symptoms of the disease. Adults are more likely to have symptoms than children... If symptoms ! are present, they usually occur abruptly and may include fever, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal discomfort, dark urine, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes). Symptoms usually last less than 2 months; a few persons are ill for as long as 6 months. There is no chronic infection with the hepatitis A virus.

8...        How serious is hepatitis A? Most persons with hepatitis A make a full recovery and will never get hepatitis A again... However, in rare instances (an average of 3 in every 1000 reported cases), hepatitis A can be fatal..

9.        What should consumers do if they recently ate food containing raw or lightly cooked green onions? Consumers who have recently eaten raw or lightly cooked green onions and feel well only need to monitor their health.. Consumers who are experiencing symptoms that might be hepatitis A should consult their health care provider.

10.        Is there a test for hepatitis A? Yes, there is a blood test for hepatitis A, called an IgM anti-HAV. However, the only people who need this test are those who are showing symptoms of hepatitis A. Persons who feel well should not be tested, even if they recently ate green onions.

11.        What is immune globulin (often called IG or ISG) and who should receive it? Immune globulin is a preparation of antibodies that can be given before exposure to provide short-term protection against hepatitis A to reduce the risk of infection among persons who have recently been exposed to hepatitis A. For maximum protection immune globulin must be given within 2 weeks after exposure. Persons who have recently eaten green onions do not need to get immune globulin unless they have been specifically exposed within the previous 2 weeks to individuals or food involved in an outbreak and believe by public heal! th officials to have been potentially contaminated.

12.        Are there treatments for hepatitis A? There is no medication that treats hepatitis A. Some patients with hepatitis A may need to be hospitalized to treat dehydration or liver complications.

13.        Is there a vaccine for hepatitis A? Yes, but it should be given before an exposure to work most effectively. Hepatitis A vaccine has been licensed in the United States for use in persons 2 years of age and older. The vaccine is recommended for persons who are more likely to get hepatitis A virus infection or are more likely to get seriously ill if they do get hepatitis A. More information on vaccination can be found at http://www./.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/hepatitis/a/faqa.htm. CDC does not recommend that persons who have eaten green onions get vaccinated, unless a healthcare professional recommends that they get vaccinated because of other risk factors for hepatitis A..

14..        Have there been other recent outbreaks of hepatitis A caused by contaminated food in the U.S. ? Have these outbreaks been associated with raw green onions? Yes. Hepatitis A outbreaks associated with raw or undercooked green onions served in restaurants occurred in Tennessee , North Carolina and Georgia in September. The source of the green onions from the Tennessee outbreak appears to be Mexico . The agency has been in consultation with Mexican authorities to obtain their assistance in assessing the situation. In addition, FDA is monitoring certain import entries of green onions for evidence of potential contamination.

green onion.jpg

            沒錯.以前修microbiology 時,在顯微鏡下, 看過蔥管內有好多噁心的虫虫..蛋蛋....。

            還有:香菜也是(常見大量 fungus), 而且與香菜同保存的食物也會遭到染污 ,而且更噁''''。

            所以奉勸愛生吃香菜、青蔥的姊妹們,先把牠燙死再吃!
            飲食衛生青蔥最好別生吃。

            中國人愛吃脆皮烤鴨, 往往將脆皮烤鴨肉包著生的青蔥段裹著甜麵醬吃;

            吃炒米粉、貢丸湯、肉羹湯、麵湯、餛飩湯、火鍋料理、 燒烤料理及魚肉料理時,也免不了要來點兒青蔥花提味。

            中國人生吃青蔥的機會實在太多了,麵攤、火鍋店,各個餐廳?  VIP房裡索性就擺一大碗青蔥花,讓消費者自行取用, 但是,愛吃青蔥花的人在下箸前可得三思了, 因為美國食品藥物管理局日前呼籲消費者注意, 最近數起 A型肝炎的食品中毒事件,禍首竟然是青蔥
            A型肝炎病毒是一種肝臟疾病, 通常在感染A型肝炎病毒六週後會有症狀, 輕微者是發燒、腹瀉、噁心、嘔吐、無食慾、腹痛、 疲倦、皮膚變黃。嚴重者則引發為肝臟疾病。

            美國食品藥物管理局建議消費者應將青蔥放入鍋中加蓋完全煮熟,或在烹煮魚、肉類或其他料理
            放入青蔥時,也應將青蔥完全煮熟後再吃, 以降低罹患 A型肝炎的風險

            再提醒一次

            A型肝炎---禍首竟然是:青蔥及香菜

            美國食物管理局(FDA - U..S. Food and Drug
            Administration) 網站上所公佈的警告。

Inspiring!  Think what you really want at your age

A guy is 84 years old and loves to fish.

He was sitting in his boat the other day when he heard a voice say, ' Pick me up. '

He looked around and couldn't see anyone.

He thought he was dreaming when he heard the voice say again, ' Pick me up. '

He looked in the water and there, floating on the top, was a frog.

The man said, ' Are you talking to me? '

            The frog said, ' Yes, I ' m talking to you. '

Pick me up then, kiss me and I'll turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen.

I ' ll make sure that all your friends are envious and jealous because I will be your bride! '

The man looked at the frog for a short time, reached over, picked it up carefully, and placed it in his front pocket.

The frog said, ' What, are you nuts? Didn't you hear what I said? I said kiss me and I will be your beautiful bride. '

He opened his pocket, looked at the frog and said, 'Nah, at my age I'd rather have a talking frog. '

Intrguing. Take a look and ponder.

Morse Code is this way too.  The great code operators didn't separate the letters but actually heard the words or, in some cases entire sentences.

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is the name given to a number of naturally occurring fibrous silicate minerals that have been mined for their useful properties such as thermal  insulation, chemical and thermal stability, and high tensile strength. The three most common types of asbestos are: a) chrysotile, b) amosite and c) crocidolite. Chrysotile, also known as white asbestos and a member of the Serpentine mineral group is the commonest. Asbestos can only be identified under a microscope. Asbestos differs from other minerals in its crystal development. The crystal formation of asbestos is in the form of long thin fibers. Asbestos is divided into two mineral groups ---

Serpentine and Amphibole.
The division between the two types of asbestos is based upon the crystalline structure. Serpentines have a sheet or layered structure where amphiboles have a chain-like structure. As the only member of the serpentine group, Chrysotile( A, B) is the most common type of asbestos found in buildings. Chrysotile makes up approximately 90%-95% of all asbestos contained in buildings in the United States.
In the amphibole group, there are five types of asbestos. As an acronym for the Asbestos Mines of South Africa, Amosite is the second most prevalent type of asbestos found in building materials. Amosite is also known as "brown asbestos." Next, there is Crocidolite or "blue asbestos," which is an asbestos found in specialized high temperature applications.

The other three types (Anthophyllite, Tremolite, and Actinolite) are rare and found mainly as contaminants in other minerals. Asbestos deposits can be found throughout the world and are still mined in Australia, Canada, South Africa, and the former Soviet Union.

Why is asbestos a hazard?
Asbestos is made up of microscopic bundles of fibers that may become airborne when distributed. These fibers get into the air and may become inhaled into the lungs, where they may cause significant health problems. Researchers still have not determined a "safe level" of exposure but we know the greater and the longer the exposure, the greater the risk of contracting an asbestos related disease. Some of these health problems include:

a) Asbestosis -
a lung disease first found in naval shipyard workers. As asbestos fibers are inhaled, they may become trapped in the lung tissue. The body tries to dissolve the fibers by producing an acid. This acid, due to the chemical resistance of the fiber, does little to damage the fiber, but may scar the surrounding tissue. Eventually, this scarring may become so severe that the lungs cannot function. The latency period ( meaning the time it takes for the disease to become developed) is often 25-40 years.

b) Mesothelioma -
a cancer of the pleura ( the outer lining of the lung nad chest
cavity) and/ or the peritoneum ( the lining of the abdominal wall). This form of cancer is peculiar because the only known cause is from asbestos exposure. The latency period for mesothelioma is often 15-30 years.

c) Lung Cancer -
caused by asbestos. The effects of lung cancer are often greatly increased by cigarette smoking ( by about 50%). Cancer of the gastrointestinal tract can also be caused by asbestos. The latency period for cancer is often 15-30 years.
Despite the common misconception, asbestos does not cause head-aches, sore muscles or other immediate symptoms. As mentioned above, the effects often go unnoticed for 15-40 years.

When is asbestos a hazard?

Asbestos is not always an immediate hazard. In fact, if asbestos can be maintained in good condition, it is recommended that it be left alone and periodic surveillance performed to monitor its condition. It is only when asbestos containing materials (ACM) are disturbed or the materials become damaged that it becomes a hazard. When the materials become damaged, the fibers separate and may then become airborne. In the asbestos industry, the term 'friable' is used to describe asbestos that can be reduced to dust by hand pressure. 'Non-friable' means asbestos that is too hard to be reduce to dust by hand. Non-friable materials, such as transite siding and floortiles are not regulated provided it does not become friable. Machine grinding, sanding and dry-buffing are ways of causing non-friable materials to become friable.
Background:

Asbestos is a group of fibrous metamorphic minerals. The name is derived for its historicaluse in lamp wicks. It was also used in fabrics such as Egyptian burial cloths and Charlemagne's table cloth, which, according to legend, he threw in a fire to clean. The fibers are typically mixed with cement or woven into fabric or mats. It is used in buildings for its flame-retardant and insulating properties, its tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals. Asbestos is now known to be carcinogenic and is banned in many countries.

Most asbestos fibers are invisible to the unaided human eye because their size is about 3.0-20.0 µm.  Asbestos  a natural fibrous silicate widely used in the past for commercial applications such as  construction tiles, heat insulation materials and water pipes. Asbestos exposure has been industrial or occupational and primarily affects workers involved in mining or processing asbestos or those involved in the use of asbestos in the shipbuilding, construction, and textile- and insulation-manufacturing industries.

Chrysotile is mined in Canada, and tremolite and anthophyllite are mined in Finland and North America. Crocidolite and amosite are mined in South Africa and Australia.
About 2-6 million people in the United States are estimated to have had significant levels of exposure.

High exposures ceased in the United States in the late 1970s, and later in the United Kingdom, because of governmental legislation passed after the adverse effects became recognized.  However, because the latency period between an initial exposure and the development of most asbestos-related disease is 20 years or longer, asbestos-related disease remains an important public health issue.

What are the Sources of Asbestos at home:
Elevated concentrations of airborne asbestos can occur after asbestos-containing materials are disturbed by cutting, sanding or other remodeling activities. Improper attempts to remove these materials can release asbestos fibers into the air in homes, increasing asbestos levels and endangering people living in those homes.

How is Asbestos Harmful?

Inhalation of asbestos fibers is the primary cause of asbestos-related disease. These fibers are very small and sharp. If they are not expelled through coughing or mucus secretions, they become embedded in the lung.   Inhaled asbestos is associated with three major diseases:

Asbestosis. Asbestos causes scaring of lung tissue that eventually restricts one's ability to inhale.

Lung Cancer. Asbestos increases the risk of lung cancer, especially in combination with exposure to tobacco smoke.

Mesothelioma. Asbestos is thought to be the primary cause of this rare and deadly type of cancer of the lung lining and chest wall

Asbestosis and Cancer The fine asbestos fibres are easily inhaled, and can cause a number of respiratory complaints, including a potentially serious lung fibrosis called asbestosis. Exposure to asbestos has also been determined to cause a very serious form of cancer, mesothelioma, that occurs in the chest and abdominal cavities. This aggressive disease is not properly referred to as a lung cancer, as the malignant cells are derived from the mesothelium, a tissue found on the inner walls of the chest and abdominal cavities and on the outer surface of the lungs rather than in the lung itself.

Asbestos is carcinogenic. In the United States alone, it is estimated that ten thousand people die each year of asbestos-related diseases, such as mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer, and gastrointestinal cancer. In the United States, asbestos was one of the first hazardous air pollutants regulated under Section 112 of the Clean Air Act of 1970.

Asbestos Checklist for your Home:
This checklist, adapted from the EPA, is a good place to begin your personal Asbestos inspection. However, it's always a good idea to get a licensed professional to complete a thorough inspection if you are concerned about Asbestos in your home.

Insulation
Check the attic, walls, ceilings, etc, particularly if the house was built before 1950;
Check steam pipes and boilers for paper tape or blankets made of asbestos.

Flooring
Particularly around stoves (since asbestos is well known for it's fire resistance)
Older furnaces may have asbestos insulation in the form of cement sheet, millboard, or paper; pay particular attention to worn seals around the door gaskets

Roofings
Some roofing and siding shingles are made of asbestos cement

Others
Asbestos may be present in textured paint and in patching compounds used on wall and ceiling joints (though their use was banned in 1977).  Artificial ashes and embers sold for use in gas-fired fireplaces may contain asbestos.  Older products such as stove-top pads, fireproof gloves, ironing board covers, and certain hairdryers may have some asbestos compounds.  Asbestos is found in some vinyl, asphalt, and rubber floor tiles and the backing on vinyl sheet flooring and adhesives.
Soundproofing or decorative materials sprayed on walls and ceilings.

What are the common  Symptoms

If you or members of your household are experiencing symptoms such as burning, itchy eyes, sore throat, skin irritation, trouble breathing you could be living in an
'air quality sick home'.

If you require the advice of a professional, you should find someone familiar with Indoor Air Quality issues and how to investigate the problem correctly. Too many inspectors today are trying to cash in on such scares as mold, asbestos, etc. and many are poorly qualified to perform the proper investigation and testing required to determine the problem.

There are companies popping up daily selling mold test kits to inspectors that amount to little more than an agar filled settlement plate. That will NOT determine if you have an indoor air quality problem.

Closer Look Inspection has the experience you need to determine an indoor air quality problem.  The correct equipment for testing for airborne pollutants are essential. The first step in any indoor air quality inspection is investigation.

What If I've Been Exposed to Asbestos?
Almost everyone has been exposed to asbestos to some degree. Air, water, food, and
many consumer products may contain small amounts of asbestos. Asbestos is
released from natural deposits in the earth and as a result of deterioration of asbestos products.  Harmful effects generally result from continuous exposure over a long period of time or less frequent, but higher concentration, exposures.

If you suspect you have a significant exposure to asbestos, there are some things you should do:
1. Stop on-going exposures
2. Stop exposure to tobacco smoke
3. Get regular health checkups
4. Get prompt medical attention for any respiratory illness to prevent infections that can attack weakened lungs.
Not all persons exposed to asbestos will develop asbestos-related diseases.

Types of asbestos
Chrysotile, or white asbestos, is obtained from Canadian serpentine rocks. It is less friable (and therefore less likely to be inhaled) than the other types and is the type most often used industrially. Chrysotile should not be confused with chrysolite, a synonym of olivine.
Amosite, or brown asbestos, is an amphibole from Africa.

Crocidolite, or blue asbestos, is an amphibole from Africa and Australia. It is the fibrous form of riebeckite.

Notes:
Serpentine rocks are those with curled fibres. Amphiboles have straight, needle-like fibres. The amphiboles, in their fibrous form, are friable and therefore the most carcinogenic, although they also exist in safer non-fibrous forms. Other asbestos minerals, such as tremolite, actinolite and anthophyllite are not used industrially but occur in traces.

George Bush, Queen  Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to  hell.  While there, they spy a red phone and  ask what the phone is for.  The devil tells  them it is for calling back to Earth.

Putin  asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes.  When he is finished the devil informs him  that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check.

Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes.  When she is finished the devil informs her that the cost is 6 million dollars, so she writes him a check.

Finally George Bush gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00.

When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Bush got to call the USA so cheaply.

The devil smiles and replies, "Since Obama took over, the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call."

Are you looking for a powerful  computers at dirt cheap prices?  If you are after cheaper prices, you have the following ways: -

First, you can save a lot of  money by getting a computer which is not the new top of the line. Top of the line computers cost over a thousand dollars easily. Do you really need them for word processing and  net surfing?   You can save a thousand dollars here.

Second, you can  save a good chunk of money by getting computer parts at dirt cheap prices and assemble your own computer... a clone computer system. This system is  "cheap" in price but not in quality at all.   You can choose the component parts for your own system from renowned components manufacturers such as Intel,  AMD, Seagate, Viewsonic, Logitech, etc  at dirt cheap prices.  Buidling your own computer is fun.  It does not need a rocket scientist to build it.

Third, if building your own computer seems too much an effort for you, you can get a last year model.

Fourth,  you can get a re-certified computer systems.

Fifth, another way is to get a good clone computer system.  There are some  fantastic clone computer deals  that Dell, Compaq and Gateway don't want you to know about.  Some absolute great computer deals are around and they are top of the line. Have a look at the prices on these ridiculously "cheapy" clone computers which Dell, Compaq and Gateway don't want you to know..

I just got this news release from NIH and would like to share it with the readers especially the boomers and seniors:

NIH tips for older adults to combat heat-related illnesses
Risk of heat-related problems increases with age

Older people can face risks related to hot weather. As people age, their bodies lose some ability to adapt to heat. They may have medical conditions that are worsened by heat. And their medications could reduce their ability to respond to heat.

The National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health, has some advice for helping older people avoid heat-related illnesses, known collectively as hyperthermia.

Hyperthermia occurs when the body overheats. Conditions involving hyperthermia have different names, including heat stroke, heat fatigue, heat syncope (lightheadedness or fainting in the heat), heat cramps and heat exhaustion.

Health-related factors that may increase the risk of hyperthermia include:
  • Pre-existing diseases such as congestive heart failure, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Decreased ability to move around
  • Dementia or cognitive impairment
  • Certain medications that may cause dehydration or that may affect the responses to heat by the heart, blood vessels or sweat glands.
  • Being substantially overweight
  • Drinking alcoholic beverages
  • Being dehydrated
  • Age-related changes in the skin, such as decreased functioning of small blood vessels and sweat glands

Lifestyle factors that can also increase the risk of hyperthermia include hot living quarters, lack of transportation, overdressing, visiting overcrowded places, and not understanding how to respond to weather conditions. Older people, particularly those at special risk, should pay attention to any air pollution alert in effect. People without fans or air conditioners should go to shopping malls, movie theaters, libraries or other places with air conditioning. In addition, they can visit cooling centers which are often provided by government agencies, religious groups and social service organizations in many communities.

Heat stroke is an advanced form of hyperthermia. It occurs when the body is overwhelmed by heat and unable to control its temperature. In heat stroke, the body temperature is at least 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Someone with heat stroke may have a strong rapid pulse, lack of sweating, dry flushed skin, faintness, staggering and mental status changes such as confusion, combativeness, disorientation or even coma. Seek immediate medical attention for a person with any of these symptoms, especially an older adult.

If you suspect that someone is suffering from a heat-related illness:
  • Move them into an air conditioned or other cool place
  • Urge them to lie down and rest
  • Remove or loosen tight-fitting or heavy clothing
  • Encourage them to drink water or juices if they are able to drink without choking, but avoid alcohol and caffeine
  • Apply cold water, ice packs or cold wet cloths to the skin.
  • Get medical assistance as soon as possible.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) within the Administration for Children and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services helps eligible households pay for home cooling and heating costs. Individuals interested in applying for assistance should contact their local or state LIHEAP agency. For more information, go to www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ocs/liheap/ or www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ocs/liheap/brochure/brochure.html.

For a free copy of the NIA's AgePage on hyperthermia in English or in Spanish, contact the NIA Information Center at 1-800-222-2225 or go to http://www.niapublications.org/agepages/hyperther.asp, or www.niapublications.org/agepages/hyperther-sp.asp for the Spanish-language version.

The NIA leads the federal government effort conducting and supporting research on aging and the health and well-being of older people. The Institute's broad scientific program seeks to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. For more information on research, aging, and health, go to www.nia.nih.gov.

About the National Institutes of Health (NIH): NIH, the nation's medical research agency, includes 27 Institutes and Centers and is a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NIH is the primary federal agency conducting and supporting basic, clinical, and translational medical research, and is investigating the causes, treatments, and cures for both common and rare diseases. For more information about NIH and its programs, visit www.nih.gov.

So very true... Parents are eraser

This is worth reading- beautiful.
pencil and eraser.jpg

Pencil: I'm sorry

Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong

Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.

I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass on. Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

All my life, I've been the pencil. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have.

This is to all the parents out there.

Have a look at www.ukclimbing.com/news/item.php?id=49981. It is a blast from the past.  This pre-YouTube video is of Catherine Destivelle soloing in Mali. Filmed in 1987,

High Magazine commented,

"the film Seo of her soloing on a sandstone cliff in the Mali desert is one that has been seen worldwide and the one clear image that has stuck in the minds of the general public in Britain".

The climber is Catherine Destivelle, a French who uses bare hands (no ropes) to climb cliffs. The youtube video in the website is amazing. What she did is something I thought humanly impossible. You will like the awesome climb.

A woman's daughter had asked the local minister
chair.jpg         to come and pray with her mother.
               When the minister arrived,
he found the woman lying in bed
with her head  propped up on two pillows.

An empty chair sat beside her bed.
The minister assumed that the woman
had been informed of his visit...
'I guess you were expecting me, he said.

'No, who are you?' said the mother.
The minister told her his name and then remarked,
'I saw the empty chair and I figured you knew
I was going to show up..'

'Oh yeah, the chair,' said the bedridden woman
'Would you mind closing the door?'
Puzzled, the minister shut the door.
'I have never told anyone this,
not even my daughter,' said the woman.

'But all of my life I have never
known how to pray.
At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer,
but it went right over my head...'

I abandoned any attempt at prayer,'
the old woman continued, '
until one day four years ago, my best friend said to me,
' Prayer is just a simple matter
of having a conversation with Jesus.
Here is what I suggest..
'Sit down in a chair;
place an empty chair in front of you,
and in faith see Jesus on the chair.

It's not spooky because he promised,
'I will be with you always'..
'Then just speak to him in the same way
you're doing with me right now...'

'So, I tried it and I've liked it so much
that I do it a couple of hours every day.
I'm careful though. If my daughter saw me talking
to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown
or send me off to the funny farm.'

The minister was deeply moved by the story and
encouraged the old woman to continue on the journey.
Then he prayed with her, anointed her with oil,
and returned to the church.

Two nights later the daughter called
to tell the minister that her mama
had died that afternoon.
Did she die in peace?' he asked.

'Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock,
she called me over to her bedside,
told me she loved me and kissed me on the cheek.
When I got back from the store an hour later,
I found her '.

'But there was something strange about her death.
Apparently, just before Mom died,
she leaned over and rested her head on the chair
beside the bed. What do you make of that?'

The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said,
'I wish we could all go like that.'

Just send this to four people or more,
and do not break this, please.

Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive.

I asked God for water, He gave me an ocean.*
I asked God for a flower, He gave me a garden.*
I asked God for a friend, He gave me all of YOU...
If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

Pass this message to seven people
                    except you and me.
You will receive a miracle tomorrow.

As the result of the financial crisis, stock market tumbles. Banks tighten their outgoing loans further aggravating the economy with its credit crunch. Our 401K accounts shrink. People especially baby boomers become very much concerned how to support their retirement. People who are devastated most are those with their homes going back to the bank and their family have no habitat to dwell.

The collapse of the US financial markets are deepening into an economic crisis. It is going to affect every walk of life not just confining to the financial institutes and banks. These effect would spread globally and the whole world is going to be dragged down as the result of the US melt down. This process have started already. The downturn momentum will not go away for some time. One year, two years, three years, nobody knows.

Recently, I repeatedly ask myself what is wrong with all these big names such as AIG, GM, Ford, Chrysler, CitiCorp, etc. I think my fellow boomers have the same question at the back of their mind. These companies and their CEOs, top executives, senior management are blamed for their lack of vision, alertness to potential danger and readiness to change.

They are the elite people of all these international corporations. There is no doubt about their knowledge and smartness. Their professionalism and ethics are questionable. Their focus are too much on the short term ones. Monetary benefits would blind people from seeing the true big picture ... the hidden melt down of their corporations. The vision for a evergreen healthy company is gone. Are these people focusing on monies and related benefits for themselves only? . The pursuit of the quick dollar is contagious. It flowed from CEOs to their followers, then to the greedy people walking on the streets. People's greed blind their their judgment. The brain power is lost as their brain become obsessed with greed for quick money. Many people bought stocks, real estates simply because they saw so much money out there and they did not want to be left out. Greed is all over the places in this world.

What can we do next?
UCLA on Alzheimer's. ...very informative

"The idea that Alzheimer's is entirely genetic and unpreventable is perhaps the greatest misconception about the disease," says Gary Small, M.D., director of the UCLA Center on Aging. Researchers now know that Alzheimer's, like heart disease and cancer, develops over decades and can be influenced by lifestyle factors including cholesterol, blood pressure, obesity, depression, education, nutrition, sleep and mental, physical and social activity.

The big news: Mountains of research reveals that simple things you do every day might cut your odds of losing your mind to Alzheimer's.

In search of scientific ways to delay and outlive Alzheimer's and other dementias, I tracked down thousands of studies and interviewed dozens of experts. The results in a new book: 100 Simple Things You Can Do to Prevent Alzheimer's and Age-Related Memory Loss (Little, Brown; $19.99).
Here are 10 strategies I found most surprising.

    1. Have coffee. In an amazing flip-flop, coffee is the new brain tonic. A large European study showed that drinking three to five cups of coffee a day in midlife cut Alzheimer's risk 65% in late life. University of South Florida researcher Gary Arendash credits caffeine: He says it reduces dementia-causing amyloid in animal brains. Others credit coffee's antioxidants. So drink up, Arendash advises, unless your doctor says you shouldn't.

    2. Floss. Oddly, the health of your teeth and gums can help predict dementia. University of Southern California research found that having periodontal disease before age 35 quadrupled the odds of dementia years later. Older people with tooth and gum disease score lower on memory and cognition tests, other studies show. Experts speculate that inflammation in diseased mouths migrates to the brain.

3.Google. Doing an online search can stimulate your aging brain even more than reading a book, says UCLA's Gary Small, who used brain MRIs to prove it. The biggest surprise: Novice Internet surfers, ages 55 to 78, activated key memory and learning centers in the brain after only a week of Web surfing for an hour a day.

    4. Grow new brain cells. Impossible, scientists used to say. Now it's believed that thousands of brain cells are born daily. The trick is to keep the newborns alive. What works: aerobic exercise (such as a brisk 30-minute walk every day), strenuous mental activity, eating salmon and other fatty fish, and avoiding obesity, chronic stress, sleep deprivation, heavy drinking and vitamin B deficiency.

    5. Drink apple juice. Apple juice can push production of the "memory chemical" acetylcholine; that's the way the popular Alzheimer's drug Aricept works, says Thomas Shea, Ph.D., of the University of Massachusetts. He was surprised that old mice given apple juice did better on learning and memory tests than mice that received water. A dose for humans: 16 ounces, or two to three apples a day.

    6. Protect your head. Blows to the head, even mild ones early in life, increase odds of dementia years later. Pro football players have 19 times the typical rate of memory-related diseases. Alzheimer's is four times more common in elderly who suffer a head injury, Columbia University finds. Accidental falls doubled an older person's odds of dementia five years later in another study. Wear seat belts and helmets, fall-proof your house, and don't take risks.

    7. Meditate. Brain scans show that people who meditate regularly have less cognitive decline and brain shrinkage - a classic sign of Alzheimer's - as they age. Andrew Newberg of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine says yoga meditation of 12 minutes a day for two months improved blood flow and cognitive functioning in seniors with memory problems.

    8. Take D. A "severe deficiency" of vitamin D boosts older Americans' risk of cognitive impairment 394%, an alarming study by England's University of Exeter finds. And most Americans lack vitamin D. Experts recommend a daily dose of 800 IU to 2,000 IU of vitamin D3.

    9. Fill your brain. It <http://brain.it/> 's called "cognitive reserve." A rich accumulation of life experiences - education, marriage, socializing, a stimulating job, language skills, having a purpose in life, physical activity and mentally demanding leisure activities - makes your brain better able to tolerate plaques and tangles. You can even have significant Alzheimer's pathology and no symptoms of dementia if you have high cognitive reserve, says David Bennett, M.D., of Chicago's Rush University Medical Center.

    10. Avoid infection. Astonishing new evidence ties Alzheimer's to cold sores, gastric ulcers, Lyme disease, pneumonia and the flu. Ruth Itzhaki, Ph.D., of the University of Manchester in England estimates the cold-sore herpes simplex virus is incriminated in 60% of Alzheimer's cases. The theory: Infections trigger excessive beta amyloid "gunk" that kills brain cells. Proof is still lacking, but why not avoid common infections and take appropriate vaccines, antibiotics and antiviral agents?

What to Drink for Good Memory
A great way to keep your aging memory sharp and avoid Alzheimer's is to drink the right stuff.

    a. Tops: Juice. A glass of any fruit or vegetable juice three times a week slashed Alzheimer's odds 76% in Vanderbilt University research. Especially protective:blueberry, grape and apple juice, say other studies.

    b. Tea: Only a cup of black or green tea a week cut rates of cognitive decline in older people by 37%, reports the Alzheimer's Association. Only brewed tea works. Skip bottled tea, which is devoid of antioxidants.

    c. Caffeine beverages. Surprisingly, caffeine fights memory loss and Alzheimer's, suggest dozens of studies. Best sources: coffee (one Alzheimer's researcher drinks five cups a day), tea and chocolate. Beware caffeine if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure, insomnia or anxiety.

    d. Red wine: If you drink alcohol, a little red wine is most apt to benefit your aging brain. It's high in antioxidants. Limit it to one daily glass for women, two for men. Excessive alcohol, notably binge drinking, brings on Alzheimer's.

    e. Two to avoid: Sugary soft drinks, especially those sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. They make lab animals dumb. Water with high copper content also can up your odds of Alzheimer's. Use a water filter that removes excess minerals.

5 Ways to Save Your Kids from Alzheimer's Now
Alzheimer's isn't just a disease that starts in old age. What happens to your child's brain seems to have a dramatic impact on his or her likelihood of Alzheimer's many decades later.

Here are five things you can do now to help save your child from Alzheimer's and memory loss later in life, according to the latest research.

    1. Prevent head blows: Insist your child wear a helmet during biking, skating, skiing, baseball, football, hockey, and all contact sports. A major blow as well as tiny repetitive unnoticed concussions can cause damage, leading to memory loss and Alzheimer's years later.

2 Encourage language skills: A teenage girl who is a superior writer is eight times more likely to escape Alzheimer's in late life than a teen with poor linguistic skills. Teaching young children to be fluent in two or more languages makes them less vulnerable to Alzheimer's.

    3. Insist your child go to college: Education is a powerful Alzheimer's deterrent. The more years of formal schooling, the lower the odds. Most Alzheimer's prone: teenage drop outs. For each year of education, your risk of dementia drops 11%, says a recent University of Cambridge study.

    4. Provide stimulation: Keep your child's brain busy with physical, mental and social activities and novel experiences. All these contribute to a bigger, better functioning brain with more so-called 'cognitive reserve.' High cognitive reserve protects against memory decline and Alzheimer's.

    5. Spare the junk food: Lab animals raised on berries, spinach and high omega-3 fish have great memories in old age. Those overfed sugar, especially high fructose in soft drinks, saturated fat and trans fats become overweight and diabetic, with smaller brains and impaired memories as they age, a prelude to Alzheimer's.

About Heart Attacks

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm.
One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.
Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack

The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up.

However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.
Afterwards:  CALL 911
- say "heart attack!"
- say that you have taken 2 aspirins..
- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by
- take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and...
DO NOT lie down

A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life can be saved!

I have already shared the information- - What about you?

  • Asbestos
Asbestos is a group of fibrous metamorphic minerals. The name is derived for its historical use in lamp wicks. It was also used in fabrics such as Egyptian burial cloths and Charlemagne 'stable cloth, which, according to legend, he threw in a fire to clean. The fibers are typically mixed with cement or woven into fabric or mats. It is used in buildings for its flame-retardant and insulating properties, its tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to chemicals. Asbestos is now known to be carcinogenic and is banned in many countries.

    Mesothelioma -
Mesothelioma a cancer of the pleura ( the outer lining of the lung chest cavity) and/ or the peritoneum ( the lining of the abdominal wall). This form of cancer is peculiar because the only known cause is from asbestos exposure. The latency period for mesothelioma is often 15-30 years.

Most asbestos fibers are invisible to the unaided human eye because their size is about 3.0-20.0 µm. Asbestos  a natural fibrous silicate widely used in the past for commercial applications such as  construction tiles, heat insulation materials and water pipes.

Asbestos exposure has been industrial or occupational and primarily affects workers involved in mining or processing asbestos or those involved in the use of asbestos in the shipbuilding, construction, and textile- and insulation manufacturing industries.

My name is Joel Comm, and I've been an Internet entrepreneur since 1995. I run a series of family-friendly web sites and continue to earn a generous income online.

In 1997, a company called Yahoo! purchased my game site, ClassicGames.com, and today it's known as Yahoo! Games. My face is seen hundreds of thousands of times daily in the form of a cartoon avatar at the Yahoo! Games game tables.

Through the years, I've built dozens of web sites that welcome thousands of visitors each day. I've found many ways to generate revenue online, but I wasn't prepared for the revolution that would take place in the form of Google AdSense.

In June 2003, I signed up with Google AdSense, and did what many others do. I simply took the code from the AdSense site and pasted it onto my web site. And then I did what many others undoubtedly do as well. I wondered why I wasn't making any money.

But then I got smart. I suspected that I was leaving money on the table, so I began testing my AdSense code using completely legitimate means. What I found changed my life.

From just $30 per day, I had shot up to $500 PER DAY with just a few easy changes in my spare time. I looked at my incredible 5-digit check and thought I must be dreaming. 'There has got to be a mistake", I thought. "Google is going to call me up and ask for their check back." But the call never came.

The following is an article published in 2006 announcing the winner of the year amongst laptop computers.   What is most interesting to me is the foresight of the author envisioning the emerging of the brand "Apple".   It worth your time reading it.

The Kick-Off To The Best Rated Laptops Of The Year

apple laptop computer1.jpgThe best rated laptop award changes not only from year to year, but it can and does change just as quickly from month to month.

Heck, with the major players out there like Dell, IBM, Compaq and HP just to name a few, competition is absolutely fierce!

But one thing is for sure.

This years best rated laptops all seem to have one thing in common. They are all called Apples!

Apple has taken this honor from several leading computing and electronics magazines, and the trend in sales seem to suggest that consumers are feeling the same way about them, as well.

Laptops such as the apple powerbook and ibook have helped apple stand tall among the major players in the computing world.

In 2004 alone, apple announced that it had an overall net income growth of 300 percent. That equals to a profit of $295 million in the last quarter. And if you are a stock holder that certainly must put a smile on your face. I know it does for me, and a number of my friends.

Single computer model sales are also showing the same trend. For instance, the ipod desktop version disappeared off the shelves at the rate of 4.5 million per year. The imac tripled its sales!

Apples share of the international market may still be lagging behind, though. Dell still has top honors with 18 percent of the world market. HP comes in a close second with 16 percent. And in a distant third, IBM brings in 6 percent of the share.

Apple can put a dent in those figures though with the press they have been getting lately. In fact, apple won the 2004 Readers Choice award for the brand with the most impact on an international scale. It had beat out Google, which had been the winner of this award for two years running.

No matter what awards for best rated laptops or what percentages of the world market that apple acquires over the next few years, you can be rest assured that apple will continue to put out the innovative products that they are known for.

Just take a look at the software that is featured on apples laptops and desktop computers. Such admiration of application design as iphoto and itunes make apple so popular just because these programs are so useful and yet they are so easy to use.

See if you can say that about the software that comes standard with most other mp3 players or digital cameras. It's this powerful but symplistic design that makes apples some of the best rated laptops available today.

One other point I would like to make. In 2006, we will see Apples with intel chips instead of the current IBM chips. Will this improve the performance of the apple laptops and computers, I don't think so, at least not right away. But it will possibly help apple to grow and expand in the market.

In the future, I believe you will see vast improvements in performance with this change making apple computers and laptops even better than what's available today.

    AVOID EATING DEADLY CHICKEN BONES
PLEASE IF YOU DECIDE TO DIE, DIE OF ANYTHING BUT IGNORANCE. STOP CHEWING CHICKEN BONES

chicken wings.jpgChicken wings - Its Dangerous
Avoid eating chicken wings frequently - ladies, especially; a true story...!

A friend of mine recently had a growth in her womb and she underwent an operation to remove the.... The cyst removed was filled with dark colored blood. She thought that she would recover after the surgery but! She was terribly wrong.

A relapse occurred just a few months later. Distressed, she rushed down to her gynecologist for a consultation. During her consultation, her doctor asked her a question that puzzled her. He asked if she was a frequent consumer of chicken wings and she replied yes wondering as to how he knew of her eating habits.

You see, the truth is in this modern day and age; chickens are injected with steroids to accelerate their growth so that the needs of this society can be met. This need is none other than the need for food.

Chickens that are injected with steroids are usually given the shot at the neck or the wings. Therefore, it is in these places that the highest concentration of steroids exists. These steroids have terrifying effects on the body as it accelerates growth..

    ovaries.jpg
It has an even more dangerous effect in the presence of female
hormones, this leads to women being more prone to the growth of a cyst in the womb. Therefore, I advise the people out there to watch their diets and to lower their frequency of consuming chicken wings!
People, who receive this email, please forward it to your friends and loved ones. I am sure no one wants to see him or her suffer!

Why do I have a variety of friends who are all different in character ?

Some of them can be considered marginal even ?

How do I get on with them all ?

I think that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me..

    I joke with another friend.

I sit down and talk about serious matters with one of them.

I have my tea with one

    And dance with another.

I listen to one friend's problems and give her advice

Then I listen to another advising me.

They are all like pieces of a jigsaw,

When completed they form a treasure box.

    A treasure of friends!

They are my friends who understand me better than myself,

who support me through good days and bad days.

They are like colourful anti-depressants that I take on different days.

Real Age doctors tell us that friends are good for our health.

Dr. Oz calls them Vitamins F (from Friends) and counts the benefits of friends to our well being.

Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression

and terminal strokes. If you take Vitamin F constantly you can be up to 30 years younger

than your real age. The warmth of friendship stops stress and even in your tense moments

it decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50 %.

I am so happy that I have a stock of Vitamins F!

In summary we should value our friends and keep in touch with them.

We should try to see the funny side of things and laugh together, not forgetting

to open our mouths big to swallow the floating vitamins F !!!!

Thank you for being my vitamins!

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I walked to the door and knocked..
'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice.  I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years.
All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters.  In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?'  she said.  I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness.  'It's nothing', I told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be
        treated.'

'Oh, you're such a good boy, she said.
When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive through downtown?'
'It's not the shortest way,'  I answered quickly..  'Oh, I don't mind,' she said.  'I'm in no hurry.
I'm on my way to a hospice. '

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued in a soft voice.. 'The doctor says I don't have very long.'  I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.
'What route would you like me to take?' I asked.
For the next two hours, we drove through the city.  She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood  where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds.  She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom
where she had gone dancing as a girl.  Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now'.

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home,
with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

'How much do I owe you?' She asked, reaching into her purse.

        'Nothing,' I said

'You have to make a living, she answered.

'There are other passengers,' I responded.

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said. 'Thank you.'

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.. Behind me, a door shut.
It was the sound of the closing of a life..

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?
What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us
unawares --beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID ~BUT~
THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

You won't get any surprises but you might help make the world a little kinder and more compassionate by sending this on. Reminding us that often it is the random acts of
kindness that most benefit all of us.

This is a message from a boomer buddy.   I would like to share it with you.   Also, I would like you to forward to your friends.   Please remember we are all getting OLD and if we don't do something now right now, We never will.

As a raise last year, Seniors got 2/5 th of 1% on their Canada Pension and 0% on the Old Age Security.

The Canadian citizens who saved and created pensions are treated worse than those who arrived and seem to know how to get freebies from our system, like medical, pensions, bus passes, dental, medicals.........yet some have contributed little or nothing..........their funds are off shore or not existent..........is this fair?

    HOW TRUE IS THIS!

We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Homeless, Veterans, Orphans, etc. ?????

This is so pathetically true...in the last month we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile , and Turkey ..

Now Pakistan , the same people who will turn around and build the IED's that kill our troops.

Also another boat load of refugees has arrived from Sri Lanka who will get aid that should go to the CANADIAN people who have worked all their lives to make this the country it is today.

This year, over 8000 refugees that we know have snuck into Canada through ports and airports and all of whom will eventually get various aid from governments.

Our retired seniors living on fixed income receive no aid while our government and religious organizations pour hundreds of millions of dollars and tons of food to foreign countries.

We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

Why are so many CANADIAN citizens, and the CANADIAN government, so star struck they won't provide for our own?

CANADA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed without eating, elderly going without needed meds, and mentally ill without treatment - yet we have a benefit for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothing, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if we gave ourselves the same support that we gave all of these other countries.

I feel bad for them, but I also care about CANADA and our Seniors who developed this great country, only to be forgotten.

    Sad isn't it?
99% of people won't have the guts to forward this. I'm not one of them.....

    How about you??

Be sure to read Scene 3. Quite interesting.

This is a new one. People sure stay busy

trying to cheat us, don't they?

    SCENE 1.

A friend went to the local gym and placed his belongings
in the locker. After the workout and a shower, he came out,
saw the locker open, and thought to himself, 'Funny,
I thought I locked the locker..

Hmm, 'He dressed and just flipped the wallet to make
    sure all was in order.

Everything looked okay - all cards were in place...

A few weeks later his credit card bill came -
    a whooping bill of $14,000!

He called the credit card company and started
yelling at them, saying that he did not  make
           the transactions.

    Customer care personnel verified that
there was no mistake in the system and asked
if his card had been stolen..

'No,' he said, but then took out his
wallet, pulled out the credit card, and yep -
you guessed it - a switch had been made.

An expired similar credit card from
the same bank was in the wallet.

The thief broke into his locker at the gym
    and switched cards.

Verdict: The credit card issuer said since
he did not report the card missing earlier,
he would   have to pay the amount owed
    to them.

How much did he have to pay for items
    he did not buy?

$9,000! Why were there no calls made to
           verify the amount swiped?
Small amounts rarely trigger a 'warning bell'
    with some credit card companies.
It just so happens that all the small amounts
    added up to big one!
    ============================

    SCENE 2.

A man at a local restaurant paid for his meal
    with his credit card.

The bill for the meal came, he signed it and
the waitress folded the receipt and passed the
    credit card along.

Usually, he would just take it and place it in his
wallet or pocket. Funny enough, though, he
actually took a look at the card and, lo and
behold, it was the expired card of another person.

He called the waitress and she looked perplexed.

She took it back, apologized, and hurried back to
the counter under the watchful eye of the man.

All the waitress did while walking to the counter
was wave the wrong expired card to the counter
cashier, and the counter cashier immediately
looked down and took out the real card.

No exchange of words --- nothing! She took
it and came back to the man with an apology..

    Verdict:

Make sure the credit cards in your wallet are yours.

Check the name on the card every time you
sign for something and/or the card is taken
away for even a short period of time.

Many people just take back the credit card without
even looking at it, 'assuming' that it has to be theirs.

FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DEVELOP THE HABIT
OF CHECKING YOUR CREDIT CARD EACH TIME
IT IS RETURNED TO YOU AFTER A TRANSACTION!
    ==========================

    SCENE 3:
Yesterday I went into a pizza restaurant to
pick up an order that I had called in.

I paid by using my Visa Check Card which, of
course, is linked directly to my checking
    account.

The young man behind the counter took my
card, swiped it, then laid it on the counter as
he waited for the approval, which is pretty
          standard procedure..

While he waited, he picked up his cell phone
          and started dialing.

I noticed the phone because it is the same
model I have, but nothing seemed out of the
ordinary. ? Then I heard a click that sounded
like my phone sounds when I take a picture.

He then gave me back my card but kept the
phone in his hand as if he was still pressing
    buttons.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking: I wonder what he
is taking a picture of, oblivious to what was
          really going on.

It then dawned on me: the only thing there
was my credit card, so now I'm paying close
attention to what he is doing..

He set his phone on the counter, leaving it
          open.

About five seconds later, I heard the chime
that tells you that the picture has been saved.

Now I'm standing there struggling with the
fact that this boy just took a picture of my credit   card.

Yes, he played it off well, because had we not
had the same kind of phone, I probably would
    never have known what happened.

Needless to say, I immediately cancelled
that card as I was walking out of the pizza
    parlor..

All I am saying is, be aware of your
    surroundings at all times.

Whenever you are using   your credit card
take caution and don't be careless.

Notice who is standing near you and what
they are doing when you use your card.

Be aware of phones, because many have a
    camera phone these days.

FORWARD THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE
AS YOU CAN THINK OF. LET'S GET THE
         WORD OUT! JUST BE AWARE
Never let your card out of your
    sight.....check and check again!

An interesting bit of History ! !

A young man's dream to be an artist was crushed when his application to enter the fine arts academy was rejected.  His crushed dream turned into a tragic nightmare for the  world...

         Who painted these pictures ?

    hitler 1.jpg
    hilter 2.jpg

    hilter 4.jpg
    hilter 5.jpg
    hilter 6.jpg

The person who painted these pictures wanted to attend the Viennese academy of Fine arts and become famous as an artist. If he had been accepted by the academy, the world history would have been different.

        His name was Adolph Hitler.

Google Translation of previous post

Why is there conflict in Tibet? Why Lama engaged in independent wars?

You would understand better if you read on the following article.
In 14 generations there were several Dalai Lama passed away in their young age.  Conflict of  interests was the root of these power struggle, poison assassination.   To stop these the Qinlong Emperor   (Qing dynasty, China)  set an order for the reform preventing further gang fights and assassination among the lamas.

Here you can see these theocratic rulers of hypocrisy, self-proclaimed "Living Buddha" in the interests of people in order to intrigue, poison assassination, so do despicable means. I have been to Tibet tour, contact Lama, as well as civilians. You want to know why Tibet contradiction? I tell you I can see why. The top of the CPC Tibet, Tibetans have 95% of the serf population, as well as the rest of the toast (slave), and clergy. At that time, every temple, have large tracts of land, and piles of serfs. Serfs were slaves for generations in worship when the toast will cut the slave arm, remove their skin, as a tribute.
In the Dalai Lama's birthday, he will be ordered under the secret House of monks Paxia two children as a sacrifice of the skin, if you go to Tibet's History Museum, you can see the XIV Dalai Lama to leave Tibet before the hand-written Flayer command. However, those illiterate serfs in Tibet devout believer in Buddha. You probably do not know Tibetan, the Buddha of the stool is a drug, Tibetan living Buddhas are competing to collect manure for their treatment. Toast at the reception when the guests, and guests hospitality is to rape their female slaves together, it is very easy to understand, they think this is a manifestation of hospitality, because it is in the "shared a woman."

Chinese in Tibet staged a "land reform", but the means were very old and hard, and those who are willing to toast no matter, must hand over the land, free the slaves, debt relief.
Land reform was started in 1957 to engage in, and then armed insurrection broke out in Tibet, they resist a toast, then the CCP's suppression, followed by the Dalai Lama fled, but, the Panchen Lama did not escape, he chose to stay, because he in favor of land reform.
This also resulted in a special Tibet "ethnic separatism": civilians and clergy are fragmented. Those underlying the Tibetan people who go to Tibet if you play, you can look at Tibet in homes in general agriculture and animal husbandry are the portraits of Mao hung together and worship the Buddha, because their ancestors were serfs, is Mao gave them land and freedom. Old of the current national policy, the Tibetan medical education all have government housing subsidies, which is the general civilian population of Tibetan independence is not a positive reason.
But the monks and the offspring do not think so before the toast, in their eyes, Mao Zedong and the CPC is to deprive them of their lands and property offending people, not only that, the Chinese crackdown in the previous, generations ago these people or relatives, or detained or have been executed, can be described as Kudachoushen.
So if you walk in the streets of Lhasa, you will find the most active independent advocacy person, not a Lama is the former noble offspring.
These people have been in trouble, the CPC is no way to get them, because this place in Tibet, education is too far behind, too far behind the Tibetan culture, which is why they are so devout belief in the gods of reason, can you imagine a get physics Master's of people go to the temple? knock on hundreds of thousands head to the Buddha it? But the Tibetans would be, Tibetans will be sent home Lama smart kids, because in their tradition, society is hierarchical, Lama is the most noble, which is typical of theocratic society.
Because it had the characteristics of such a theocratic society, the CCP Lama is a headache. You probably do not know, every Tibetan Living Buddha temples, enjoy the special subsidy of the Chinese State Council, in other words, the CCP to support the temple, raising Lama, you see every temples are magnificent, which is China's gold money Government out.
But the monks still make trouble. Very simple, no matter how you give them subsidies, their former land did not, did not work, the scenery was also weakened the social status of their discontent.
Tibetans If you want a happy future, a monk class is the biggest stumbling block. You most want to know the development of Tibetan culture is? The CPC. Because the most listened Lama, the most easily manipulated, that is, those Tibetans a low cultural level.
So hard to cover CPC schools in Tibet, Mainland university graduates to teach if you volunteer to go to Tibet a few years, come back after the free Master, Ph.D., University of the Mainland, Tibet has always been low points of the students enrolled. However, in an average altitude of 5,000 meters areas, especially areas where the snow is half a year, schools and hospitals is not so easy. Taiwan, Tibet has more than 30 large, but the population is less than half of Taipei. How to make such a scattered nomad people living in access to education? This requires high investment.
CCP's idea is that the Tibetan cultural level to high up, not so stupid, when all of the Tibetan people sick can go to the hospital for a check, rather than go to the temple to eat the feces when the Living Buddha, monks are not so easy to incite Tibetans, and Tibet is also much like the management, of course, so did the market and position Lama, and this is the monks who are currently facing "a crisis of survival." Therefore, the CPC Tibet cover schools and hospitals, is the unrest in Tibet, the preferred target.
Tibetan monks is no room for learning culture, a studied biology, he will be sick when you go to monks to eat feces?
The monks are not the only block scientific communication on the planet's people. Remember the dark Middle Ages in Europe do? Remember the Inquisition it? When science and the dissemination of knowledge, God will shake the right of rulers, when the Tibetans know the earth is round, around the sun, they would never believe that monks say the earth's edge is the eighth layer of hell.
Tibet is in a modern civilization and theocratic era of violent conflict and cultural sectors.
As the Inquisition will not bypass the Copernicus and Galileo, they would not consciously quit the stage of history, monks also. So the clash of civilizations in the process, you will definitely see the struggle, out, dark, peaceful, violent, and never will be halted.
Tear "human rights" "freedom" coat, this is a divine right of slavery and the modern clash of civilizations.
CPC Tibet business is good if you really want to make the Tibetan people have a prosperous modern life, they should build more schools and prisons, schools give the Tibetans, the prison gave Lama.
I would suggest that the network of friends to play with Tibet, not with the tour, do not just go to the temple, to the village, to prairie, to see the original ecology of Tibet, to those farmers and herdsmen's home to see their Communist China and Mao Zedong's point of view, take a look at their hard labor, to see if they made slaves of the grandparents that crippled arm, and there is no culture of simple, go to see monks relaxed and comfortable life, listen to their government dissatisfaction.

This is one of the nicest e-mails I have seen and is so true:

I dreamed that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around.   We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.

My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said,
This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in
     prayer are received.

I  looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many  > angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and  > scraps from people all over the world.

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second   section.

The  angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery  Section Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are  processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them." I  noticed again how busy it was there.  There were many angels working   hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and   were being packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the  door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel   was seated there, idly doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledgment Section, my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed   embarrassed."  How is it that there is no work going on here? ' I   asked.

"So sad," the angel sighed.  "After people receive the blessings   that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments"

"How does one acknowledge God's blessings? " I  asked..

"Simple,"  the angel answered. Just say, "Thank you, Lord. "

"What blessings should they acknowledge?"  I asked.

"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof   overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world.  If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a   dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. "

"And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in   the world who has that opportunity."

"If you woke up this morning with more health than illness .. You  are more blessed than the many who will not even survive this day. "

"If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of   imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ...  You are ahead of 700 million people in the world."

"If you can attend a church without the fear of harassment, arrest,
torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, three
     billion people in the world."

"If your parents are still alive and still married  ..you are very
     rare."

"If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm,
you're unique to all those in doubt and despair......"

Ok, what now? How can I start?

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more
blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Have a good day, count your blessings, and if you care to, pass this  along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are
