據《現代家庭報》報導，魚的營養非常豐富，在肉類食品中名列前茅。不過你很難想到，普通平凡的芝麻醬竟跟魚的營養成分相當，在食療保健上，它們有很多相似的營養作用。
l 健腦：

魚肉中豐富的歐米伽3不飽和脂肪酸，被人稱為「腦黃金」，對健腦益智、促進兒童智力發育非常有好處。芝麻醬也有很好的健腦功效，因為它跟魚一樣，含有豐富的不飽和脂肪酸。每 100克芝麻醬的脂肪酸含量是黃花魚的13倍多，草魚的33倍！
l 護心降脂：

吃魚能保護心臟和心血管，這些好處也是魚肉中豐富的不飽和脂肪酸帶來的。而芝麻醬中豐富的不飽和脂肪酸也有同樣的作用。一勺芝麻醬（大約 20克），其中的脂肪酸含量超過半斤的草魚和鯉魚！

l 補鈣高手：
芝麻醬中的鈣含量也比較高，每 100克芝麻醬中含有612毫克鈣，遠高於牛奶、豆腐等常見的補鈣食品。
l 養血佳品：
芝麻醬還含有比較豐富的鐵和葉酸。鐵和葉酸都是造血不可缺少的原料。我國有近1/4的人群患缺鐵性貧血，補充富含鐵的食物非常必要。
l 防糖尿病和高血壓：
芝麻醬中含量較高的還有鋅和鉀，這兩種礦物質在防治糖尿病和高血壓方面有很好的作用：鋅參與胰島素的合成與降解；而鉀有舒張血管、促進鈉排泄的作用，有利於血壓健康。
l 抗氧化、防畸變：
芝麻醬中還有兩種維生素不能不提，一種是維生素E，一種是葉酸。前者有抗氧化、抗炎症的作用，因此經常吃芝麻醬能提高人體抗病能力、延緩衰老；而葉酸不僅是造血的原料，還是胎兒神經管發育不可缺少的營養素。女性在準備懷孕時每天吃點芝麻醬，一直堅持到懷孕3個月，能避免胎兒發生神經管畸形。

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.

His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.

Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone..

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.
He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed.

It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

'Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present .'

Ants Problem:
Keep the skin of cucumbers near the place or ant hole.

To get pure and clean ice:

Boil water first before freezing.

To make the mirror shine:
Clean with spirit

To remove chewing gum from clothes:
Keep the cloth in the freezer for an hour.

To whiten white clothes
Soak white clothes in hot water with a slice of lemon for 10 minutes

To give a shine to hair:
Add one teaspoon of vinegar to hair, then wash hair.

To get maximum juice out of lemons:
Soak lemons in hot water for one hour, and then juice them.

To avoid smell of cabbage while cooking:
Keep a piece of bread on the cabbage in the vessel while cooking.

To rid the smell of fish from your hands:
Wash your hands with a little apple vinegar.

To avoid tears while cutting onions:
Chew gum.

To boil potatoes quickly:
Skin one potato from one side only before boiling.

To boil eggs quickly:
Add salt to the water and boil.

To check freshness of fish:
Put it in a bowl of cold water. If the fish floats, its fresh.

To check freshness of eggs:
Put the egg in water. If it becomes horizontal, its fresh. If it becomes slanting, its 3-4 days old. If it becomes vertical, its 10 days old. If it floats, its stale.

To remove ink from clothes:
Put toothpaste on the ink spots generously and let it dry completely, then wash.

To skin sweet potatoes quickly:
Soak in cold water immediately after boiling.

To get rid of mice or rats:
Sprinkle black pepper in places where you find mice or rats. They will run away.

To get rid of mosquitoes at night:
Keep leaves of mint near your bed or pillows and in around the room.

有一次和總統府典禮科的官員應酬，談到典禮科的業務不勝甘苦，許多一般人無法注意到的細節都不能忽略。這位官員說，和古代比起來，他的業務還算輕鬆的了。

說到古時候的繁文縟節，多到令人咋舌。他舉古時候皇帝出巡，在荒郊野外如廁的典故，的確令人嘆為觀止。

話說古代皇帝如廁是件大事，即使出巡，也有太監在旁依照典禮伺候。

某日，皇帝出巡在郊外突有內急，只聽太監大喝一聲「停轎」。霎時鐘鼓齊鳴，一行太監簇擁皇帝行至樹旁。

緊接著太監大聲喊道：「開龍袍！」、「脫龍褲！」、「掏龍種！」看皇帝動作完畢，接著喊道：「高山流水！」
流水之後，皇帝使一眼色，太監接著說：「甩龍頭！一抖，再抖，三抖！」
抖完後後，太監再喊：「置龍種！」、「複龍褲！」、「穿龍袍！」、「恭請皇上登轎！」、「起轎！」

當然，皇后如果一同出巡，一樣有一套相同的儀典。一聽皇后內急，一群宮女護送皇后至矮叢間。

這時太監遠遠的喊道：「掀鳳袍！」、「脫鳳褲！」、「露鳳眼！」動作都就緒後，太監接著喊道：「雨打芭蕉！」
如廁完畢之後，太監再喊：「夾鳳眼！一夾，再夾，三夾！」夾完之後再依太監口令複鳳袍、登轎、起轎。

經過這一大套典禮才完成如廁。比較起來，現在典禮科可輕鬆多了。

朋友手拿一份報紙說讓我做一個小小的測驗，我欣然同意了。

問題一：

如果你知道有一個女人懷孕了，她已經生了八個小孩，其中有三個耳朵聾、兩個眼睛瞎、一個智能不足，而這女人自己又有梅毒，請問，你會建議她墮胎嗎？

我剛要回答，朋友制止了我，又問我第二個問題。

問題二：現在要選舉一名領袖，而你這一票很關鍵。

下面是關於這三位候選人的一些事實：

候選人A：

跟一些不誠實的政客有往來，而且會諮詢占星學家。

他有婚外情，是一個老煙槍，每天喝8─10杯的馬丁尼。

候選人B：

過去有兩次被解雇的記錄，睡覺睡到中午才起來，大學時吸過鴉
片，而且每天傍晚會喝一夸特的威士忌。

候選人C：

他是一位受勛的戰爭英雄，素食主義者，不抽煙，只偶爾喝一點啤酒。

從沒有發生過婚外情。

請問你會在這些候選人中選哪一個？

朋友讓我把答案寫在紙上,然後告訴我說:

候選人A是：富蘭克林• 羅斯福，

候選人B是：溫斯頓• 邱吉爾，

候選人C是：亞道夫•希特勒。

我聽了答案驚訝地張大了嘴巴。

朋友表情凝重地問我：你是不是為世界人民選擇了希特勒？

那你會建議這位婦女墮胎嗎？

我說：這個問題不用考慮，我們受計劃生育優生優育教育多年了，都生那麼多歪瓜劣棗了，就別再添亂了。當然墮胎啊。

朋友說：你殺了貝多芬，她是貝多芬的母親。

我又一次吃驚地張大了嘴巴。

朋友說：嚇一跳吧？
本來你認為很好很人道主義的答案，結果卻殺死了貝多芬、創造了希特勒？

最後朋友總結道：所以不要用既定的價值觀來思考事物。

我抓過朋友手中的報紙，原來真是一個測驗題，題目是《你的決定滅了誰》。

重要的是，不是我們在哪，而是我們要往哪走......

如果你決定往哪走，世界會為你開出一條路。

每個人的存在都有其意義，不要把自己當上帝，以為自己可以做最好的選擇，常常那正是悲劇的開始.............

Boomer Friends - House Warming

It was a busy Sunday packed with activities. The day was kicked off early at 8:30 a.m. with a morning mass at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Richmond Hill. Then Julie and I together with some buddies went to Fuk Lam Chinese Restaurant for our supper with dim sums. Of course, we have lots of fantastic food before we hit the road to visit our old friend Angela.

She just had an operation couple of days ago. Now she stays home in her convalescent. Her conditions are very good and her recovery is speedy. She can join the old gang and sing the Chinese opera very soon.

We continued our journey next to visit Teresa for her house warming. It is a new condo apartment at Scarborough Town Center. We have a great time there drinking, eating, praying and chatting. The new home is spacious and plenty of light. The panoramic view of Scarborough Town is spectacular. Teresa is the owner of this home. She then guided us to tour the surrounding green belt where flowers blossom along the trail. We walked to the vibrant Scarborough Town Centre and enjoyedTim Hortons coffee and New York Fries before we walked back. It is a 10 minute walk on feet.

We like Teresa 's new home very much. All the rooms plus the beautiful picture like views are so attractive. The location with all the facilities, the green belt, the tall trees and colorful flowers, shopping and commercial vibrant activities within walking distance render a total uniqueness of the new home and its adjacent vicinity. Both Julie and I love it. Our best wishes to Teresa and her family .... Happy and Healthy every moment of their new lifestyle at the new home.

At 6:30 p.m. we hit the road again to a nearby restaurant for dinner. This restaurant is famous for its good food and excellent price. We had a fantastic dinner for only ten dollars each. It is time to hit the road again and say good bye to one another before we reached home.

Boomer Photo - Lake Cruise 30,000 Islands

Today I visited my Chinese opera master at his home in Leslie and Finch. He is already over eighty but still very active. During the brief stay at his home, he showed me his audio visual tools for his music production. We sang a couple of songs together. Then, he showed me some old photos shot in July 2008 in 30,000 Island. To my surprise, he made one color hardcopy of me and Julie on the lake cruise. It was 8" x 10" and we would frame it as we like it so much.

Another surprise gift from the old master is he also gave me a computer memory stick. This finger (memory stick) contains about 40 to 50 Chinese opera songs and he reminded me to practise. I thanked him so much for what he has done and I have to practise more so as not to disappoint him.

    消毒砧板

    鹽醋水消毒砧板

    為了對飲食衛生做徹底的把關，除了養成隨手清潔砧板的習慣外，最好要經常定期以鹽醋水來消毒砧板。

    ＊自製鹽醋水來定期消毒，鹽醋水的做法如下：

    材料：鹽、白醋、冷開水

    調配方法：鹽巴與白醋與冷開水的比例是1：2：6。

    使用方法：

        先把砧板洗乾淨。
        接著把乾淨的砧板泡入鹽醋水中充分浸濕。
        然後靜置1小時後再清洗即可。

    心得分享：

        以鹽醋水消毒砧板完畢後，只要以清水沖洗即可，完全不必擔心殘留的問題。
        不要以黑醋來代替白醋，但可選用一般白醋即可，不必用到價格較高的穀物醋。
        多年前日本細菌學會總會，曾經對鹽醋水做過實驗，他們將含有1千萬個大腸桿菌的樹脂製品砧板，泡在鹽醋水中1小時，1小時之後再做檢驗發現，砧板上的大腸桿菌已經不到100個，可見鹽醋水的威力十分強大。

    Make a solution of salt, white vinegar & cool boiled water in the proportion of 1:2:6 .

    Clean the cutting board first, soak the board for an hour.

    Japanese lab tested this by soaking a cutting board with 10 millions ecoli on. After an hour there were less then a hundred ecoli left.

THERE IS A MORAL HERE!
A C130 was lumbering along when a cocky F16 flashed by.
The jet jockey decided to show off.

     The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, 'watch this!' and promptly
    Went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished
    With a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot
    Asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that?

    The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!'
    The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130
    Pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of that?'
    Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What the heck did you do?'
    The C-130 pilot chuckled. 'I stood up, stretched my legs, walked
    to the rear, took a leak, then got a cup of coffee and a
    Cinnamon bun.'

    When you are young & foolish - speed & flash may seem a good thing!!!

    But when you get older & smarter - comfort & dull is not such a bad thing!!!

    We old folks understand this one.

Bommers Wisdom - Layman's 10 Commandments

         They are like
         the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.

    1)
         Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that

Boomers Healthy Food - 八種可吃掉體內廢物的食物

人體在新陳代謝過程中會產生不少'廢物'，而且從不潔空氣中也會吸入大量有毒有害氣體和微粒。盡管人體具有一定清除自身毒素的能力，但當體內廢物積累過多或機體解毒排污功能減弱時，廢物不能及時排出時，就會影響健康。以下 8 種食物有助排出人體的多種 "毒素"。

1.    綠葉蔬菜

綠葉菜中多為鹼性，可以中和飲食中糖、肉、蛋及代謝中產生過多的酸性物質，使體液保持弱鹼性，從而清除血中有毒物質。常食蔬菜可選蘿蔔葉、青綠色蔬菜、菠菜、芥蘭、大白菜、胡蘿蔔、椰菜花等等。

2.    粗糧

常吃蕃薯、土豆、玉米、蕎麥等粗糧有助於保持大便的通暢，使體內毒物不會久滯腸道。粗糧中含有許多細糧或加工食品所欠缺的特殊維生素和礦物質。這些營養素有助調節腸胃，容易被人體吸收並提高抗病力及免疫功能。

3.    葡萄酒

飲葡萄酒有益心臟健康。它含有豐富的檸檬酸，也屬鹼性飲料，這是眾多酒精飲料中唯一所具備的。有報道，飲葡萄酒可預防和糾正酸中毒，還有利尿排毒作用。近年用於治療痛風也見功效。

4.    豆豉
美國一營養專家宣稱："常吃豆豉可以防止老年癡呆"。研究發現，吃豆豉有助消化、增強腦力、提高肝臟解毒能力等效果。還能促進體內新陳代謝，清除血中毒素，起凈化血液作用。此外，豆豉還含有大量能溶解血栓的尿激酶，含大量Ｂ群維生素和抗菌素，可預防老年痴呆症。
5.    水果或果汁

可選食檸檬、橘子、柚子、葡萄、甘蔗汁、蘋果、番茄等。水果味道雖多酸味，但在體內代謝過程中能變成鹼性，並能使血液保持鹼性。特別是它們能將積聚在細胞中的毒素 "溶解"，最終經排泄系統排出體外。

6.    綠茶

綠茶中有許多解毒因子，它們易與血液中有毒物質相結合，並加速從小便排出。常飲綠茶還能防癌和降血脂。吸煙者多飲綠茶可減輕尼古丁的傷害。

7.    海帶和紫菜

它們含大量膠質。能通便促使體內的放射性毒物隨同大便排出體外。腫瘤病人接受電/化療時多吃海帶是有益的。它們都屬鹼性食品，有凈化血液作用。常吃海帶和紫菜能降低癌症發生率。

8.    黑木耳

黑木耳能抑制血小板凝聚，可降低膽固醇，對心腦血管疾病有益。黑木耳中的膠質，有助於將殘留在人體消化系統內的灰塵雜質吸附和聚集並排出體外，洗滌腸胃.

不過，即使對身體健康，但在進食時都要適可而止，切勿過量，還要配合適量的運動或練功等，更須經常保持身心愉快開朗。

I just purchased a new microphone from BestBuy. It is Avid Vocal Studio made by Avid Technology Inc. The package contents include:

Pro Tools SE software
M. Audeo Producer USB microphone
Desktop mic stand
USB connector cable

The reason I bought it is to improve the sound quality of my Microsoft webcam. The sound quality is much improved now. There is much more to be explored from the Pro Tools SE. I shall post more new findings later. Stay tuned, meanwhile, listen to my new recording. Give me your thought on this new webcam video.

Edgar Mueller Super Artist
Great Crevase Edgar Mueller. Hard work: Together with up to five ssistants, Mueller painted all day long from sunrise to sunset. The picture appeared on the East Pier in Dun Laoghaire , Ireland , as part of the town's Festival of World Cultures.

He spent five days, working 12 hours a day, to create the 250 square metre image of the crevasse, which, viewed from the correct angle, appears to be 3D. He then persuaded passers-by to complete the illusion by pretending the gaping hole was real.

'I wanted to play with positives and negatives to encourage people to think twice about everything they see,' he said. 'It was a very scary scene, but when people saw it they had great fun playing on it and pretending to fall into the earth. 'I like to think that later, when they returned home, they might reflect more on what a frightening scenario it was and say, "Wow, that was actually pretty scary."

Mueller, who has previously painted a giant waterfall in Canada , said he was inspired by the British 'Pavement Picasso' Julian Beever, whose dramatic but more gentle 3D street images have featured in the Daily Mail.

Boomers Wisdom - A memo to the Son

It is a memo by Liang Jizhang( 梁继璋) to his son.

My son:

Writing this memo to you, based on three reasons:

(A) Life is unpredictable, we do not know how long we can live. It is better to let you know now.

(B) I am your father, if I do not tell you, no one will tell you.

(C) This memorandum sums up what I learnt through the painful experience and failure, so you can save a lot time by avoiding these costly mistakes.

The following are important and you need to remember:

(A) Do not mind this too much if someone treats you badly. No one is obligated to be nice to you except me and your mother. For those who are nice to you be grateful but also be careful, because everyone does everything for a reason. He is nice to you, does not mean they like you.   You have to figure out. Don't rush to become true friends.

(B) No one is irreplaceable, nothing is indispensable. Understanding this point would help you in the future when you are no longer being loved, or perhaps you lost all you have. This is not a big deal.

(C) Life is short.   If you are still wasting life today, tomorrow may be you are done as life deserts you. Therefore, the sooner you cherish life, you have more time to enjoy life, instead of hoping for longevity. It is better to hold on to the present moment making life meaningful and beautiful.

(D) The world does not have everlasting love. Love is just an instant feeling, Over time mood changes. If you lost your loved one, be patient, time will slowly wash away all memories settled in your mind. Your pain will be eased. Distant your feeling on the beauty of love. Don't over-exaggerate the sadness of lost love.

(E) Although many successful people have not received much education, it does not mean you would be successful without study hard. Knowledge you have learned is your weapon.   You can start from scratch, but you must arm yourself first. Son, you have to remember this!

(F!) I will not ask you to support my rest of my life, again I will not support you either. When you grow up and becomes independent, my responsibility will end. After that you take the bus or the Benz, eating shark's fin or green bean noodle, it is entirely your choice.

(G) Do good to others, but don't expect others would be good to to you too. You treat others nice does not mean that others will the same. If you don't understanding this. you will only add unnecessary trouble to yourself.

(H) I have been buying lotteries for almost two years, I won nothing not even the third prize. It proves that people want to become rich have to work hard. There is no free lunch in this world.

(I) We love and live as dad and son only once. This fate would not repeat.    Please treasure and cherish in all time as we should. There is no next time whether we love and not . Now let say goodbye.

我兒：

寫這備忘錄給你，基於三個原因：

（一）人生福禍無常，誰也不知可以活多久，有些事情還是早點說好。

（二）我是你的父親，我不跟你說，沒有人會跟你說。

（三）這備忘錄裏記載的，都是我經過慘痛失敗得回來的體驗，可以為你的成長省回不少冤枉路。

以下，便是你在人生中要好好記住的事：

（一）對你不好的人，你不要太介懷，在你一生中，沒有人有義務要對你好，除了我和你媽媽。至於那些對你好的人，你除了要珍惜、感恩外，也請多防備一點，因為，每個人做每件事，總有一個原因，他對你好，未必真的是因為喜歡你，請你必須搞清楚，而不必太快將對方看作真朋友。

（二）沒有人是不可代替，沒有東西是必須擁有。看透了這一點，將來你身邊的人不再要你，或許失去了世間上最愛的一切時，也應該明白，這並不是甚麼大不了的事。

（三）生命是短暫的，今日你還在浪費著生命，明日會發覺生命已遠離你了。因此，愈早珍惜生命，你享受生命的日子也愈多，與其盼望長壽，倒不如早點享受。

（四）世界上並沒有最愛這回事，愛情只是一種霎時的感覺，而這感覺絕對會隨時日、心境而改變。如果你的所謂最愛離開你，請耐心地等候一下，讓時日慢慢沖洗，讓心靈慢慢沉澱，你的苦就會慢慢淡化。不要過分憧憬愛情的美，不要過分誇大失戀的悲。

（五）雖然，很多成功人士都沒有受過很多教育，但並不等於不用功讀書，就一定可以成功。你學到的知識，就是你擁有的武器。人，可以白手興家，但不可以手無寸鐵，緊記！
（六! ）我不會要求你供養我下半輩子，同樣地我也不會供養你的下半輩子，當你長大到可以獨立的時候，我的責任已經完結。以後，你要坐巴士還是Benz，吃魚翅還是粉絲，都要自己負責。

（七）對人要好，但不能期待人家對你好。你怎樣對人，並不代表人家就會怎樣對你，如果看不透這一點，你只會徒添不必要的煩惱。

（八）我買了十多二十年六合彩，還是一窮二白，連三獎也沒有中，這證明人要發達，還是要努力工作才可以，世界上並沒有免費午餐。

（九）親人只有一次的緣份，無論這輩子我和你會相處多久，也請好好珍惜共聚的時光，下輩子，無論愛與不愛，都不會再見。

從來沒想過，但看起來，的確是有可能的．．．
最近數起 A 型肝炎的食品中毒事件，禍首竟然是青蔥。
青蔥最好別生吃，在顯微鏡下有好多噁心的虫虫
沒錯 . 以前修 microbiology 時，在顯微鏡下，看過蔥管內有好多噁心的虫虫 .. 蛋蛋 ... 。

還有 : 香菜也是 ( 常見大量 fungus) ，而且與香菜同保存的食物也會遭到染污，而且更噁 '''' 。
所以奉勸愛生吃香菜、青蔥的姊妹們，先把牠燙死再吃！
飲食衛生青蔥最好別生吃。

中國人愛吃脆皮烤鴨，往往將脆皮烤鴨肉包著生的青蔥段裹著甜麵醬吃；
吃炒米粉、貢丸湯、肉羹湯、麵湯、餛飩湯、火鍋料理、燒烤料理及魚肉料理時，也免不了要來點兒青蔥花提味。
中國人生吃青蔥的機會實在太多了，麵攤、火鍋店，各個餐廳 ? VIP 房裡索性就擺一大碗青蔥花，讓消費者自行取用，但是，愛吃青蔥花的人在下箸前可得三思了，因為美國食品藥物管理局日前呼籲消費者注意，最近數起 A 型肝炎的食品中毒事件，禍首竟然是青蔥

A 型肝炎病毒是一種肝臟疾病，通常在感染 A 型肝炎病毒六週後會有症狀，輕微者是發燒、腹瀉、噁心、嘔吐、無食慾、腹痛、疲倦、皮膚變黃。嚴重者則引發為肝臟疾病。
美國食品藥物管理局建議消費者應將青蔥放入鍋中加蓋完全煮熟，或在烹煮魚、肉類或其他料理
放入青蔥時，也應將青蔥完全煮熟後再吃，以降低罹患 A 型肝炎的風險

Real or imaginary?

We know we take responsibility

HOWEVER,

we would like to point out

that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

    The pride out of appearance,
    The courtesy out of driving,
    The romance out of love,
    The commitment out of marriage,
    The responsibility out of parenthood,
    The togetherness out of the family,
    The learning out of education,
    The service out of patriotism,
    The Golden Rule from rulers,
    The nativity scene out of cities,
    The civility out of behavior,
    The refinement out of language,
    The dedication out of employment,
    The prudence out of spending,
    The ambition out of achievement, or,
    God out of government and school.

And we certainly are NOT the ones

who eliminated

patience and tolerance

Green Green Grass of Home is my early favourite pop song. This is popularized by Tom Jones.

"Green, Green Grass of Home", written by Claude "Curly" Putman Jr., is a country song originally made popular by Porter Wagoner in 1965 and Bobby Bare in 1965. It was sung later by Tom Jones in 1966 when it reached number one in the UK Singles Chart on 3 December staying there for a total of seven weeks. It had also been recorded the previous year, 1965, by Jerry Lee Lewis, and included on his album Country Songs For City Folks (later re-issued as All Country), and Jones learned the song from Lewis's version. The Tom Jones record reached #11 pop, #12 easy listening on the Billboard US charts.

For my Memories and Favourite Things video production, I used Youtube.com instead of Facebook. I have taken some time to compare these two to find out which one is suitable for me. I mowed the lawns this early moring. The warm weather of spring expedites the growth of buddies and sprouts. Now they are blossoming proudly show off their rich colors and shapes. These flowers you see here have been nurtured by the bungalow former owner. Thanks to John and Miranda for their excellent effort. My job is to keep them in good shape. 女兒回答道: "我們在一共同分享的生活親吻後, 女兒就離去了. 母親走到我坐的窗旁, 我可以看出她很想,也需要放聲一哭 . 我不想打擾她的私事, 但是她反而歡迎我加入似的問道: "你有過和一個人道別 , 而且心知肚明這是今生的最後一次嗎?""有的." 我回答. "不好意思, 可不可知道為什麼這是永恆的道別呢?"

Boomers Wisdom - I Wish You Enough

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother
said, "I love you and I wish you enough".

The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more
than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too,   Mom".

They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to
the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be
forever?".


Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?".

"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead
and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said.


"When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you
enough'. May I ask what that means?".

She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down
from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a   moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them".

Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.

Boomers Song - My Way

This is my third video production.... My Way. This song was originally sung by Frank Sintra. It was once a big hit in the old time when boomers were young. I check into Wikipedia and have abstracted the following for guys who may have interest to know more about this song:

"My Way" is a song popularised by Frank Sinatra. Its lyrics were written by Paul Anka and set to music based on the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed in 1967 by Claude François and Jacques Revaux, with lyrics by Claude François and Gilles Thibault. Anka's English lyrics are unrelated to the original French song. Anka is credited as a co-composer of "My Way" because he wrote entirely new lyrics to the original Claude François/Jacques Revaux music. "My Way" is often quoted as the most covered song in history.

Origin

Paul Anka heard the original 1967 French pop song, Comme d'habitude (as usual) performed by Claude François, while on holiday in the south of France. He flew to Paris to negotiate the rights to the song. In a 2007 interview, he said: "I thought it was a bad record, but there was something in it." He acquired publishing rights at no cost and, two years later, had a dinner in Florida with Frank Sinatra and "a couple of Mob guys" at which Sinatra said: "I'm quitting the business. I'm sick of it, I'm getting the hell out."

Back in New York, Anka re-wrote the original French song for Sinatra, subtly altering the melodic structure and changing the lyrics:

"At one o'clock in the morning, I sat down at an old IBM electric typewriter and said, 'If Frank were writing this, what would he say?' And I started, metaphorically, 'And now the end is near.' I read a lot of periodicals, and I noticed everything was 'my this' and 'my that'. We were in the 'me generation' and Frank became the guy for me to use to say that. I used words I would never use: 'I ate it up and spit it out.' But that's the way he talked. Frank Sinatra recorded his version of the song on December 30, 1968, and it was rush-released in early 1969. It reached #27 in the U.S. In the UK, the single achieved a still unmatched record, becoming the recording with the most weeks inside the Top 40, spending 75 weeks from April 1969 to September 1971. Boomers Healthy Aging - Normal Aging vs Dementia

Couple of weeks ago I attended two seminars hosted by the Richmond Hill Christian Community Church. The topic was around normal aging and dementia. The speaker of the first seminar was a medical doctor and the second seminar was a social worker. These two seminars are informative and beneficial to boomers and seniors.

Some key points I remember:

Normal Aging
It is natural process of life. We live to die. Each day we are closer to death. As we grow old, older each day, the body parts deteriorate just like your old cars.    Sometimes, we forget. For example, we forget where we have put the keys. Sometimes, we forget our glasses. They are normal aging. It is part of our aging process.

Dementia
Given the situation of forgetting the keys, it would be more serious when you not just forgot where you put your keys, you also don't know what these keys for. You simply forgot how to use your keys. And that is dementia.

People with dementia have great problem to do very simple tasks. For example, a housewife excellent skill in cooking and food preparation won't be able to cook. She forgot all her cooking skill, the how to and preparation details.    The mathematic teacher won't be able to do simple addition and minus calculations.

Another example to illustrate effect of dementia on people cited by the social worker in the dementia seminar is the freezer and the iron.    Any body with a normal mindset would not put the iron in the freezer. If somebody did put the iron into the freezer, there is something wrong. This situation needs medical attention.

第一，胳膊、腿麻木、刺痛，精神紊乱、晕眩，说话打颤、语无伦次。尤其是面部或者身体一侧出现上述情况，就可能是中风，也就是脑卒中的前兆，预示向大脑供氧的动脉堵塞或者破裂。如果是大动脉出问题，大脑中很大一部分就会受到影响，进而导致半身麻痹，同时失去讲话等功能。如果是小血管出问题，胳膊或腿会麻木。出现上述症状应立刻就医。一般说来，血栓发生三小时内是治疗的最佳时机。

第二，胸部疼痛或不适，胳膊、两颚、颈部疼痛，突发冷汗、极度虚弱、恶心、呕吐、晕眩或者气短。这是心脏病发作的前兆。另外，有些病人会出现"无痛"心脏病，其最关键的前兆是：突发晕眩、心跳加剧、气短、恶心、呕吐、冒冷汗。如果身体出现上述某些症状，要第一时间打120急救。病人口中可含一片阿司匹林或硝酸甘油，以防心脏病发作时心肌受到损伤。

第三，腿肚子酸痛、胸痛、气短、咳血。这些是危险的腿部血栓形成前兆。久坐之后最易发生，手术之后长时间卧床，也会出现这种症状。人人都可能得这种病，坐卧时间久了，血液淤积在腿部，腿部出现血栓，小腿肚子肿疼，此时如果突然出现胸痛或者气短，说明血栓可能已经脱落并通过血液进入肺部。那可是万分危险，要立刻去医院。

第四，尿血但无痛感。如果发现尿中有血，即便没有痛感也要去医院。尿血的常见原因有肾结石、膀胱或者前列腺感染。严重的可能是肾脏、输尿管、膀胱、前列腺等部位发生癌变，当病灶很小，也就是能治的时候，病人通常是没有痛感的。因此，发现尿血就要尽早就医。

第五，哮喘不好也不坏。哮喘发作时往往伴随喘息或者呼吸困难。如果症状不消退，也不恶化，就应该去看急诊。如果哮喘发作不治疗，有可能出现严重的胸肌疲劳，甚至导致死亡。

第六，抑郁和自杀念头。有些人抑郁的时候不寻求帮助，因为他们怕别人认为他们神经不正常。实际上，他们大脑中的化学物质已经失去平衡。这也是一种疾病。抑郁症包括悲伤、疲劳、冷漠、焦虑、睡眠习惯改变、没有食欲。出现这些症状，需要尽早重视并进行相应治疗。来源：新浪傅客

Stunning Testimony

A man from Norfolk, VA called a local radio station to share this on Sept 11th, 2003, TWO YEARS AFTER THE TRAGEDIES OF 9/11/2001.

His name was Robert Matthews.. These are his words:

A few weeks before Sept. 11th, my wife and I found out we were going to have our first child. She planned a trip out to California to visit her sister. On our way to the airport, we prayed that God would grant my wife a safe trip and be with her. Shortly after I said 'amen,' we both heard a loud pop and the car shook violently. We had blown out a tire. I replaced the tire as quickly as I could, but we still missed her flight. Both very upset, we drove home.

I received a call from my father who was retired NYFD. He asked what my wife's flight number was, but I explained that we missed the flight... My father informed me that her flight was the one that crashed into the southern tower. I was too shocked to speak.

My father also had more news for me; he was going to help. 'This is not something I can't just sit by for; I have to do something.'

I was concerned for his safety, of course, but more because he had never given his life to Christ. After a brief debate, I knew his mind was made up. Before he got off of the phone, he said, 'take good care of mygrandchild.

Those were the last words I ever heard my father say; he died while helping in the rescue effort.

My joy that my prayer of safety for my wife had been answered quickly became anger. I was angry at God, at my father, and at myself. I had gone for nearly two years blaming God for taking my father away. My son would never know his grandfather, my father had never accepted Christ, and I never got to say good-bye.

Then something happened.

About two months ago, I was sitting at home with my wife and my son, when there was a knock on the door. I looked at my wife, but I could tell she wasn't expecting anyone. I opened the door to a couple with a small child. The man looked at me and asked if my father's name was Jake Matthews. I told him it was. He quickly grabbed my hand and said, 'I never got the chance to meet your father, but it is an honor to meet his son.'

He explained to me that his wife had worked in the World Trade Center and had been caught inside after the attack. She was pregnant and had been caught under debris. He then explained that my father had been the one to find his wife and free her. My eyes welled up with tears as I thought of my father giving his life for people like this. He then said, 'there is something else you need to know.'

His wife then told me that as my father worked to free her, she talked to him and led him to Christ.

I began sobbing at the news. Now I know that when I get to Heaven, my father will be standing beside Jesus to welcome me, and that this family would be able to thank him themselves.

When their baby boy was born, they named him Jacob Matthew, in honor of the man who gave his life so that a mother and baby could live.

This story should help us to realize this: God is always in control.

We may not see the reason behind things, and we may never know this side of heaven, butGod is ALWAYS in control.

Please take time to share this amazing story. You may never know the impact it may have on someone. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

After being married for 36 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day & said,

"Honey, 36 years ago we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed & watched a 10-inch black & white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot & sexy 19 year-old gal. Now I have a $ 550,000 home, a $30,000 car, nice big bed & plasma screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 55 year-old woman. It seems to me that you're not holding up your side of the bargain".

My wife is a very reasonable woman.

She told me to go out & find a hot, 19 year-old gal & she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed & watching a 10-inch black & white TV.

Boomer Mother - Mom's Day Present

Today is Mother's day. We celebrated Mom's Day with Alison and Sam at Regal Chinese Restaurant at Yonge and 16th Avenue. It was a full house and people have to wait at the entrance. We waited there for about thirty minutes before we were given a table for four.

It was a very busy day as the restaurant was fully packed with people. However, service was responsive, fast and satisfactory. We ordered plenty of dim sums. Nine dishes for four people. Quality was above average. We don't expect excellent quality on such a feastive day. The price was excellent as we have senior discount of 20% and no charge for the tea. The bill totalled to $37 tax and tips included.

Julie and I returned home direct from the restaurant. Before we reached home we cruised around the vicinity we live. We found several brand new customer built houses. Previously, they were the sites for some old bungalows. They are very nice and we like them so much. The latest one sold according to MLS was $1.2 millions, too expensive for us.

Before long, Alison and Sam returned. They have bought a big flowers basket for Julie. A Mom's Day present from Alison and Sam. Thank you Alison and Sam. Julie thank you! You made my day. A Happy Mom's Day for Dad.

If you find the man between 3 seconds and 1 minute, the right half of the brain is developed normally. If you find the man between 1 minute and 3 minutes, then the right half of your brain is functioning slowly and you need to eat more protein If you have not found the man after 3 minutes, the advice is to look for more of this type of Exercises (Seven Second Memory Training) to make that part of the brain stronger!!!

And, yes, the man is really there!!!

Good morning guys. It is a very lovely morning with sunshine brightening up everything within his reach. I grabbed my camera and took more photos at the backyard. The spring sprouts from the trees, shrubs, weeds and grasses come out reaching for the light. Yesterday, I put on plenty of top soil for perennials ensuring that they have enough nutrients for their growth during the year.

I wanted to buy some annuals but I decided to save this money for the gas which are so expensive these days. I used to spend about $70 per week on gas for a full tank. Now I started to use less. I use only half tank and that is half of what I used in the past. This is my message to the oil company. If every body does the same the fat oil company would hear our VOICE. Would you join me protesting our voice? I use the public transport a little more for shopping in the nearby vicinity.

One day, you are in the lift with a sudden down falling. Emergency power supply system should but did not kick in at this critical moment. The elevator simply fell from 13th floor down. Fortunately, you remembered what was taught in television. You pressed all the buttons and the lift stopped on the fifth floor. In this situation, every action you do is just between life and death. The moment you do every action will determine your fate.

The expert's advice:

Regardless of floors, press all floor buttons.

If the lift has hand rail, hold it firmly with your hands.

with your entire back together with the head close to the elevator walls in a straight line.

Knees should be in bent slightly.

Description:
As the elevator falls, you do not know when it will touch the ground. As it hits ground the falling force will fractures all bones resulting instant fatal death.

Therefore:

In an animal experiment carried out by a professor in Tokyo U comparing the various health benefits of different fruits,using banana, grape, apple, water melon, pineapple, pear and persimmon, it was found that banana gave the best results. It increased the number of white blood cells, enhancedthe immunity of the body and produced anti-cancer substance TNF.

The recommendation is to eat 1 to 2 banana a day to increase your body immunity to diseases like cold, flu and others.

According to the Japanese professor, yellow skin bananas with dark spots on it are 8 times more effective in enhancing the property of white blood cells than the green skin version

This early morning, before I hit the road to Angus Glen Community for the Taichi kung fu practise, I took some photos at the yards in the front and at the back of the bungalow. The perennials sprout out already in different colors. They mark the coming of spring which we have been waiting for weeks.

As weather gets warm, I have to start gardening in the yards as well as maintaining the bungalow. These hands on work would keep me busy physically while blogging will keep my mind active. I enjoy the work and there is no rush nor deadline.

A man came over and offered his services as a painter to a female putting gas in her car and left his card. She said no, but accepted his card out of kindness and got in the car. The man then got into a car driven by another gentleman. As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following her out of the station at the same time. Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could not catch her breath. She tried to open the window and realized that the odor was on her hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the gentleman at the gas station.

She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt she needed to do something at that moment. She drove into the first driveway and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help. The men drove away but the lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes after she could finally catch her breath. Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously injured her.

This drug is called 'BURUNDANGA ' and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in order to steal from or take advantage of them.

This drug is four times more dangerous than the date rape drug and is transferable on simple cards.

So take heed and make sure you don t accept cards at any given time alone or from someone on the streets. This applies to those making house calls and slipping you a card when they offer their services.

A very good joke! Do you still want to vote? How do we decide whom to vote for?

While walking down the street one day a "Member of Parliament" is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in, 'says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity'.
'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the MP.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises....

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realises it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity'.

The MP reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell. '

So St. Peter escorts him to the lift and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the lift open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and rubbish.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more rubbish falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. 'I don't understand, 'stammers the MP'. Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of rubbish and my friends look miserable.

What happened? '

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, ' Yesterday we were campaigning.. ... Today you voted.'
