In our daily life being forgetful is very common. For instance, people may forget where they put their keys or glasses. Most likely, if you are a driver, you may forget where you have parked the car in the parking lot. There are at times some mental blocks affecting people's proper thinking or memorizing. The example used in the seminar was a housewife who was supposed to cook some rice for her dinner. She set up the rice cooker but forgot to put rice and water in the cookware Then as she took the rice container out to get some rice, the phone rang and she answered the phone call. She was holding rice container as she talked energetically over the phone. She forgot the rice until her huband reminded her. Are these the symptoms of dementia?
In the seminar, short videos were showed. Through it we have advices from geriatric doctors, language therapist, pharmacist and social workers. According to the geriactric doctors, dementia is not and cannot be determined by one symptom such as forgetfulness. It should be determined on a wide range of tests and examination. However, we should watch out for the syndromes of dementia. To illustrate this point, let say, in the above example the housewife 's forgetfulness alone cannot determine she has dementia. If she has other problems, such as she cannot do the cooking properly which she was good at and has been doing well in the past 20 plus years. Then, this is a serious warning. Or if she put things in wrong place, For example, put the iron into the fridge. It is a huge warning. Or if she keeps on buying the same stuff without knowing that there is already more than enough.
Another example was cited. A math teacher was asked to do a simple math test by the family doctor, say, 100 minus 7. This is a piece of cake for the math teacher. If the math teacher cannot do it correct, there is a problem that is assciated with dementia.
Usually, people with dementia would lose their ability, even a simple task of taking care of themselves. For severe dementia, the affected patient cannot do basic tasks such as bathing, change clothes, teeth brushing, put of the shoes, the list can go on and on.
Early Warning Signs of Dementia
Prevention of dementia
It appears that the regular moderate consumption of alcohol (beer, wine, or distilled spirits) and a Mediterranean diet may reduce risk. A study has shown a link between high blood pressure and developing dementia. The study, published in the Lancet Neurology journal July 2008, found that blood pressure lowering medication reduced dementia by 13%.
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression is associated with some dementia types.
A Canadian study found that a lifetime of bilingualism delays the onset of dementia by an average of four years when compared to monolingual patients.
Early detection and treatment of this disease is important. Remember to check with your family doctor whenever you are in doubt for yourself and people you love.

Yesterday, I called the Telus service people and I learned there is a way to save more with my pay to go plan. Don't misundestand me that I asked Telus for that. The cool thing, the gentleman on the other end of the phone line advised me after reviewing my account details. He said I use the cellphone very infrequently and there is still a good surplus in the account. He went on to advice me that I can save a little more with the $100 per 365 days top-up instead of the $10 per month. I can save $20 for the year. As for the old cellphone I have been using for years. It needs a replacement. I
Today, I decide that I would change my cellphone to Samsung U510 and I am going to change the top-up plan to $100 per 365 days. I already changed Julie's top-up plan yesterday.
Guys, this is a bit of money I can save these days when everything becomes so expensive. Have a good day..
Precautions re Mammograms and Dental XRays
A Useful Warning
On Wednesday, Dr. Oz had a show on the fastest growing cancer in women, thyroid cancer. It was a very interesting program and he mentioned that the increase could possibly be related to the use of dental x-rays and mammograms.
He demonstrated that on the apron the dentist puts on you for your dental x-rays there is a little flap that can be lifted up and wrapped around your neck. Many dentists don't bother to use it. Also, there is something called a "thyroid guard" for use during mammograms.
By coincidence, I had my yearly mammogram yesterday. I felt a little silly, but I asked about the guard and sure enough, the technician had one in a drawer. I asked why it wasn't routinely used. Answer: "I don't know. You have to ask for it." Well, if I hadn't seen the show, how would I have known to ask?
Someone was nice enough to forward this to me. I hope you pass this on to your friends and family.
Thank you Ben for sending me this important message.
If you are a Christian, you know the bibiical verse 'Your Kingdom Come ' ex the 'Our Father' prayer. Jesus taught this prayer personally to His apostles who followed him spreading the Gospel of God. This is the model prayer for all Christians. It is the guideline for people who pray to God. The English version of this prayer is:
Our Father, Who is in heaven,This prayer is simple and easy except one verse, namely, 'Your Kingdom come'. What is meant by 'Your Kingdom Come'? To understand the meaning of these words, it is better to review the historic background then and there according to the Bible. Very briefly they are:
Holy is Your Name;
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
- Jesus was borned in a manger in Bethlehem, Judaea during the reign of Herod the Second, the son of Herod the Great. Both of them are known for their cruelty and tyrany.
- The Massacre of the Innocents of all 1-month infants in Judaea.
- Judaea was defeated by the Roman Empire and became a Roman province.
- The Jews then lived in hunger, poverty and high tax.
- The Pharisees were the privileged group of religious people who preached with their mouth not the spirit nor the heart of God.
With the above background, simply imagine what will be the feeling within Jesus when he taught His Apostles the prayer 'Our Father'?
Jesus is the son of God. He came from God's Kingdom. He is all-knowing. HE humbly took fresh and came on earth born in the manger. He faced cruelty and poverty from day one. He undertook all sufferings on earth and later die on the cross at the age of 33.
Jesus being son of God in fresh experienced our human pain and sufferings. He pitied His people and earnestly prayed to His Father that His Father; the God and His Kingdom come on earth relieving all people believing and practising His teachings.
When Jesus prayed, he deeply sympathized the poor people around him, He prayed that His Father's Kingdom would come where there is abundance of love and peace. The hunger will be fed, the thirst will be quenched, the naked will be clothed.
The Love and Peace from God and His beloved son becomes His preaching. He planted seeds of faith, love and hope into all believers of the early Church. The value of God and His Kingdom is planted in the hearts of these people sharing and practising what Jesus taught.
Per the prayer 'Our Father', the verse 'Your Kingdom Come' was the hope for the people then and there following Jesus. It is also the hope for all Christians in the time line of people.
I believe that the Kingdom of God is there all the time before and throughout the history of mankind. the Kingdom of God is God Himself and all those within His Reign, the universe, the earth, Heaven, the visibles and invisibles.
The Original Sin of Adam and Eve brought about the deprivation of our Heavenly Relationship with God. Through Jesus and His Redemption people have a second chance for entry to the Kingdom of God.
As the Words of God are seeded within people, the seeds of God's Kingdom are with people. People have to take good care of their Seeds. A day will come for God to judge these seeds.
A good reference point for our belief is the Apostle's Creed.
1. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
2. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
3. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit & born of Virgin Mary.
4. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
5. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again.
6. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
7. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
8. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
9. the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,
10. the forgiveness of sins,
11. the resurrection of the body,
12. and life everlasting.
Amen.
God's Love for His people is so great that God sent Jesus His beloved Son to come down from the His Kingdom to earth to redeem the sin of His people.

We also checked the other stores such as Black and another camera store at Market Village and finally at CostCo, Costco offers the best price. We decided to buy one but at a later date. You know the reason why? The Nikon 9100 will come soon probably in April 2011. So, I better wait a little longer.
What I have in mind is producing my own videos for cooking and later on for singing. Therefore guys keep tuned in for my cool videos.
I have similar problem with these what people call loss of short term memory. For instance, where exactly I have parked my car say 15 minutes ago. I cannot figure it out instantly as I were younger. I have to think backward before I can remember the approximate location. I told Julie one way to help us remembering where we parked our car in a busy parking lot is to memorize the details of the park location, e.g. the signs, the numbers, the company name, the exit/entrance name/number, take a photo with our cellphone camera. You know what, most of the time when we get out of the car we just do one thing. And that one thing is dash to the destination and the rest is simply forgotten. When we have to get back to the car, we notice then and there that we have forgotten to memorize the location. This is not uncommon among us and a lot of our buddies.
I don't know whether we have Alzheimer;s disease, but I am sure that our brain and memory are aging just like our body. To be nice to our body, we eat the healthy food. To maintain the fitness of our body, we exercise regularly. To maintain the brain and memory, we have to know them more and give them what they need in terms of food , exercises and rest. Just the way we treat our body. For expert's advise, here is where you can find the related information, the Brain and Memory Foundation founded by Gillian M Eadie
I am pleased to have Gillian as our guest author here. I simply take this opportunity to thank her and her Foundation for sharing their knowledge, experience and insight with our readers. If you would to like to improve your memory I highly recommend them to you.

Stretching exercises for Low Back Pain:

- Lie flat on your belly
- Relax the whole body with both hands to slightly support your body
- Then use both arms to raise up slightly your upper body
- Hold this position for 10 second
- Lower the whole body to relax flat as the original position
- Then use both arms to raise up the body high
- Hold this position for 10 second
- Repeat above process several times.
- Don't over exercise.
Low Back Pain related article:
We have consulted our family doctor several times and there is no solution to our problem. A little advice from him is to do some stretching exercises which may help to strengthen the neck muscle and relief the pain. To help Julie to find suitable stretching and strengthening exercises is my task. I search the internet for related information.
Stretching
2. Let your head hang forward, as if you are touching your chin to your chest. Lace your fingers behind your head to apply a little pressure to bring your chin further down. Stop when you feel a good stretch and hold for 6 seconds. Do this three times.
3. With your shoulders relaxed, turn your head to side as if you were looking over your shoulder. Go until you feel a stretch and hold it there for 6 seconds. Do this three times and repeat with the opposite side.
Strengthening:
2. Place both of your hands on your forehead. Push your head into your hands, again not letting it move, and hold the contraction for 10 seconds. Do this three times, and repeat with the opposite side.
3. Place one hand onto the side of your head, and hold it there. Turn your head into your hand as if you were going to look over your shoulder, only don't let your head move. Hold this contraction for 10 seconds. Do this three times, and repeat with the opposite side.
4. Stand with your back flat against a wall. Tuck your chin and press your head into the wall, and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat this three times.
I would remind to Julie to do all these stretching and strengthening exercises. Stay tune in for the results after two weeks.
1. Avoid Electricity Usage during on-peak hours
During summer weekdays, 11 a.m. -5 p.m.
on-peak hours @9.9cents/kWh
It is important to avoid on-peak hours, rates are almost double.
2. Use Electricity only during off-peak hours:
Winter - weekdays (9 p.m. - 7 a.m. off-peak hours)
Weekends and holidays (24 hours off-peak hours)
It is best to wash clothes during weekends and holidays
when 24 hour off-peak apply.
Summer - weekdays (7 p.m. - 7 a.m. off-peak hours)
off-peak @5.1 cents/kWh
3. Use Energy saving bulks
I have already replaced all bulks with the energy saving ones.
4. Use electricity efficient heater instead of baseboard heater
According to a energy technician the daily consumption the baseboard heater averages to several dollars each day. Therefore, we decided to replace it with new energy
efficient heater.
5 Get a New Fridge
If your fridge is over 15 years old replace it with a new one. Probably you can save $125 each year.
6. Change our habit a little bit.
For example, in clothes washing, we only do our clothes washing when there is a full load of soiled/dirty clothes instead of half load of clothes. Wash them only during the off-peak hours. This would help to save the energy further.
7. Better Insulation to avoid heat escape
Windows are the usual places for heat escape. Check them and fix them if there is any leakage defects. The other areas where heat may escape from the house are the doors and attic. Sometimes, it is found in the walls In such cases, it is advisable to get your contractor to fix the problem if you are not a handyman.
The air was alive with anticipation,
the theatre was at full capacity, it was 1937, and the audience was about to
see George Gershwin himself playing the magnificent 'Rhapsody in Blue'. Horror
stuck about half way through the performance as the legendary composer's
fingers stopped caressing the keys, the orchestra eventually quietened,
Gershwin sat very still, his shoulders stooped, and then, after some time, he was
escorted away from the stage. His mind
had gone blank, his fingers couldn't find the notes, and he couldn't remember
the rest of the piece, his own composition.
OK, so it turned out that the great man
had a brain tumor and died later that year, but don't you hate that? You are in the middle of an important
presentation or telling a funny story and suddenly, you can't think of what
comes next! Try as you might, the mind's gone blank and you have no idea how to
finish. Fortunately for most of us, this
doesn't happen in front of an audience of 2000, and even more fortunately for
us it doesn't mean we have a brain tumor!
Many years ago it happened to me in a
rather public way, and I can still remember the awful feeling now. I was a
competitive dancer and I had practiced and practiced a spectacular new step. I
couldn't wait to perform it as one of a series of six different dance
movements. All was going well until I
came to the point where the new step was to be performed and I stopped. My mind
was a blank. You see, I'd practiced the step on its own and not in sequence, so
under the pressure of competition, my memory couldn't cope.
Pressure! Pressure! Pressure! We all know about it, and pressure on your memory comes from many quarters: when you're tense, afraid or in panic; when you're under pressure, multi-tasking or feel angry, emotionally charged or under threat. Feelings of loneliness, insecurity or confusion can all lead to mental blocks and, in the midst of the ever-increasing pace of our technological world, these blank moments occur in even the youngest of adults. What usually happens is that the sustained release of adrenalin actually decreases the efficiency of essential brain connections needed for you to remember well. Your memory is a complex and amazing set of reactions and processes which work best when you are not stressed, and are operating in 'normal' mode.
So
what can be done to clear a mental block?
Firstly, it's important to check that there is nothing physical causing the condition,
particularly if it is happening more frequently than twice a week. Stress, if
sustained over a long period, can cause mental blocks, so evaluate honestly how
stressed out you really are.
Relaxing the mind is a key factor in clearing mental blocks, take a few deep breaths and exhale slowly. Don't panic (I know, easier said than done) - if you are in a public situation, make a humorous comment and move on. Find another way to continue and, chances are, the lost thought will pop back into your mind seconds later.
Thinking
about the task in a different way
will sometimes clear the mental block. Reframing your thinking and looking at
other possibilities will also give you new brain connections to approach the
task. A really good example of this is a
famous problem which was solved when the makers of hotel elevators tried to
overcome the many complaints they received about the slowness of even their
newest elevators. After spending a lot of time analyzing the machinery and the
physical impact on patrons of increased elevator speeds, some clever thinkers
redefined the problem. Why did hotel guests complain? Why did the lifts seems
so slow? Answer: Because they had nothing to do while they were waiting! When
visible screens indicated the progress of the elevator, and mirrors were
installed inside and outside the elevators, the complaints stopped.
Butterflies in the stomach, or 'nerves'
are great in small amounts, and allow us to really perform at our best, whether
competing in a dancing competition, running a race or giving a presentation to
colleagues.
Trust your brain - given the right conditions, your brain will remember. If you can control the factors surrounding you at the time, mental blocks will be a thing of the past. Or, if they occur, you know what to do. Relax, laugh, reframe and respond.

Now here is a bizarre story for you
- About 4 weeks ago I met up with an old work colleague I hadn't seen for ages,
it was lovely, we were enjoying a rather decadent late afternoon glass of
Chardonnay in a very swanky cafe overlooking the harbour and having a good old
catch-up when suddenly, just as I was
taking a sip, Camille began telling me about a car accident her husband had
been involved in last summer - and I had the most peculiar feeling, as I knew
exactly what she was going to say! It
was really eerie as my mind was jumping ahead of her sentences and I had to nibble
at some olives to stop myself from completing them for her. Now, I had only taken a few sips of my drink,
I hadn't actually seen Camille for at least two years, and as she was recently
married, I'd never even met her husband.
There is no way I could have known about the accident. It really was just like an episode of 'The
Twilight Zone'.
Was this déjà vu?
Well, if it was, then I had just
become one of the nearly 70 percent who admit to getting this feeling at least
once in their lives, where the sight, sound, taste or even smell of something
leads us to think that we've experienced this 'moment' before, although we know
that we couldn't have. The term déjà vu literally means "already seen" and the French
scientist Emile Boirac, one of the first to study this strange phenomenon, gave
the subject its name in 1876.
There are many theories as to what
déjà vu actually is and what causes it, ranging from reincarnation to simple lapses
in our memory processes. I'm still trying to work out how and why I knew what Camille
was going to say. I even knew what the cafe was going to look like, although I
can't ever remember going in there before.
The most common misuse of the term
déjà vu seems to be with precognitive experiences, where someone gets a feeling
that they know exactly what's going to happen next, and it does. It is
important to remember, though, that déjà vu is experienced during an event, not before. Hallucinations that are brought on by
illness or drugs sometimes bring a heightened awareness and these are often confused
with déjà vu. False memories that are brought on by schizophrenia can also be
confused with déjà vu. Unlike true déjà vu, which typically lasts from 10 to 30 seconds, these false memories or hallucinations can
last much longer.
I don't think I was having a
hallucination! I'd only had a couple of sips of wine!
Actually, scientists don't all agree
about why these experiences happen. Several psychoanalysts attribute déjà vu to
simple fantasy or wish fulfillment, while some psychiatrists ascribe it to a
mismatching in the brain that causes the brain to mistake the present
experience for something similar that has happened in the past. Hence the feeling
of familiarity. Then again, many parapsychologists believe it is related to a
past-life experience that may have been repressed or forgotten.
I know that I had an eerie
experience in that cafe but it looks as if there's a lot more investigation to
be done before I can tell you, for certain, why.

Because this morning I woke up and knew where my loved ones were.
Because this morning I am not crying,
Because my spouse, my child, my brother or sister or my parent does not need to be buried
or to be pulled out from underneath a pile of concrete,
Because this morning I was able to drink a glass of water,
Because this morning I was able to turn on the light,
Because this morning I was able to take a shower,
Because this morning I was not planning a funeral.
But most of all I thank you this morning because I still have life and a voice to cry out for the people of Japan .
Lord I cry out to you, the One that makes the impossible, possible,
The One that turns darkness into light,
I cry out that You give those mothers strength.
That You give them peace that surpasses all understanding,
That You may open the streets so that help can come,
That You may provide doctors, nurses, food, water, and all that they need in a blink of an eye.
For all those that have lost family members, give them peace, give them hope, give them courage to continue to go on!
Protect the children and shield them with your power.
I pray all this in the name of Jesus!! Amen,
Please continue to forward this so that we can pray together for the people in Japan.
IF you thought the legend of the horse whisperer was impressive, here's an animal tale with even more bite Rather than trying to tame wild stallions, fearless Costa Rican fisherman Chito prefers a playful wrestle in the water with his best pal Pocho - a deadly 17ft crocodile.
The 52-year-old daredevil draws gasps of amazement from onlookers by wading chest-deep into the water, then whistling for his 980lb buddy - and giving him an affectionate hug.
Crazy Chito says: "Pocho is my best friend. This is a very dangerous routine but we have a good relationship. He will look me in the eye and not attack me.
"It is too dangerous for anyone else to come in the water. It is only ever the two of us."
Chito made friends with the croc after finding him with a gunshot wound on the banks of the Central American state's Parismina river 20 years ago..
He had been shot in the left eye by a cattle farmer and was close to death.
But Chito enlisted the help of several pals to load the massive reptile into his boat.
He says: "When I found Pocho in the river he was dying, so I brought him into my house.
Fearless .... Chito enjoys crocs company
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day,
When it wasn't against the rules.
He made the the children laugh and play
To have the Lamb at school
Then the rules changed one day,
Against the law it became.
To bring the Lamb of God to school
Or even speak His name.
Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh and play,
You heard them crying tears.
What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?
Let the Lamb come back to school
And teach our kids to pray.

Welcome Gillian to be a guest author. Here below is her first article for this blog:
Live to 100 and think like you're 50!
The secrets of a long and healthy life
Sounds crazy right? Well, on a recent trip to China I was lucky enough to meet some very bright, alert 100 year-olds who are still working!
Take a look at these lovely friends - bright eyes, alert minds, lots of laughs and knowing just how to get tourists on side. I know what you're thinking - What's their secret?
This is what they told me (with the help of an interpreter):
· Simple food - rice, fresh vegetables, fish and a little meat, water and lots of green tea.
· A life of hard work and physical activity - working in the fields, walking, maybe riding a bicycle, - but no car, fast food, sitting around all day....
· Keeping their brains active with Chinese chess, maybe mahjong and, let's be honest, trying to make ends meet nearly all their lives.
· And (they didn't say this but I saw it for myself) enjoying life and laughing a lot!
OK - so it isn't for everyone and we can't help living in a time when food is available on tap and transport comes with four wheels.
But there are lifestyle changes you can make that will keep your brain alive and alert.
Imagine if you could boost your IQ, sharpen your memory, improve your mood and keep your mind youthful. Research shows that you can do all of these by just eating the right foods - pretty impressive huh! The way your body moves, your intelligence, your memory and even your lungs filling with air, all rely on brain cells so it would be crazy not to feed those cells with the good stuff. Look at these delicious examples of some of the best foods for your brain:
- Fish - Salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring
- Chicken and turkey (skinless)
- Meat - lean beef and pork
- Eggs - free-range and/or organic eggs are best
- Tofu and Soy products
- Nuts and Nut Butter, especially walnuts, macadamia nuts
- Avocados
- Extra virgin cold pressed olive oil
- Olives
- Berries - especially blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries (keep frozen berries on hand as well)
- Oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, peaches, plums
- Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts
- Oats (the long cooking kind), whole wheat items, wholemeal bread with at least 3 grams of fiber.
- Water, green tea
Your brain also needs oxygen to grow, function well and stay mentally alert. After eating, especially a big meal, most of your body's oxygen is used by your stomach and digestive system, as it digests that meal. This means that your brain is being denied much of the oxygen it needs - no wonder you feel sleepy after lunch!
Eating a little and often, is a good plan to use oxygen wisely, allowing your mind to stay sharp throughout the day and plan some exercise every day as even a 30 minute walk around your neighbourhood will exercise your body and increase the flow of oxygen to your brain.
Are you ready to start work on your brain health and fitness? Why not take this free memory test and see how you rate Give It A Go!

In the last couple of days, I set up a Facebook business page for my online business in addition to the profile page which is the starting point for my presence on Facebook. This is my landing page for myself among the Facebook users online.
By the way my Business Page is my online selling platform for tangible products such as vitamins, phytonutrients, supplements, cosmetics, skincare, health and beauty, bath, kitchenwares and other homewares. They are not cheap stuff . They are renowned brand name products. People can purchase at their comfortable home even on their bedroom and the products will be delivered at their doorsteip within couple of days. The transactions are executed under a highly secured computer system online. I like Facebook as it provides an excellent platform for doing business online on top of the huge number of people using Facebook daily finding and chatting with friends.
I also setup a Fan Page 'Simply Eating Healthy Fans'. The goal is to build a group of fans who share a common goal of simply eating healthy. As you know, groups are simplest way to build community around a brand or company on Facebook. Now with my group page, I create a central place for friends to talk among themselves around the common goal of 'Simply Eating Healthy'.
The beauty of Facebook Groups is its all round builtin. It comes with boards for posting discussion topics, photos, videos, and links. You can send news and updates to your group members as often as you like - messages arrive in their Facebook Inbox. The best part about Groups is you can create as many as you like. They are free.
Groups are one of the simplest ways to do viral marketing on Facebook. Once members have joined the group, they can invite their friends to join the group via a built-in Invite feature. If your members are excited about your group, it can grow really quickly.
Additionally, your group name will usually appear on your members' personal profile pages until they leave the group. Many people view groups as "Bumper Stickers" for their profile page in this regard. You know profile pages are highly trafficked, these links can generate a lot of clicks to your group page.
It is not common for a Koala to bear twins, and regrettably in this instance the Mum was struck and killed by a passing car.
Fortunately, the driver stopped, and took the mother to the local vet, not knowing she was dead, where it was discovered she had these twins in her pouch.
Tiny koala being fed with syringe ... sooo tiny!
'Thanks for saving my life'!
It's so nice to see a story that has a happy ending in these troubled times.
Taking care of others is a great way to forget about our own problems and difficulties!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Below is a video clip about a mother koala with her twins. They are healthy and happy as we can see. Enjoy and have a good day.
Check out some of the healthy eating posts here.

With the platform provided through Facebook we can share and exchange our experience and views pertianing to our eating culture. Meanwhile, invite your friends to join the group. Most people would like to know more about good food and healthy eating.
I am going to share with you my cooking experience and recipes as well some healthy eating recipes through my daily posts.
It is completely FREE. You know I just retire and what I have now is plenty of time. By posting daily to my friends on some good stuff is what I would enjoy doing to enrich life. Tune in for any update. Have a nice day!
How do I create my Page Badge?
The goal of this exercise is to better connect with my readers and people who come to my blog via the search engines. Facebook is the most widely used social media. If you want to socialize with people and potential customers online, I am pretty sure to say there is no body who may come close to Facebook. Finally, guys thank you for visiting and stay connected via Facebook by clicking the Facebook Badges.

A significant relation between lifestyle and cancer prevention. Exercise and diet may help prevent prostate cancer to the same extent as medications. For prostate cancer prevention, diet and lifestyle play a very important role...
Source:
a report by World Cancer Research Fund
After prostate cancer has been diagnosed, staged, and graded, the next step for the physician is to evaluate the health condition weighing the pros and cons of treatment options. The physician would suggest a custom-made treatment plan. There are four standard treatment options.
1. Watchful Waiting
In certain men more often in the old men, active treatment may be withheld while the patient is closely monitored for signs of change in their disease or the development of new symptoms. If at any time that the cancer is progressing, active treatment may then be started. This kind of "wait and see" approach is chosen most often in men who are older and have other significant medical problems.
2. Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy deploys x-rays to kill cancer cells by damaging the DNA that is needed by cells to grow and divide. At the same time focus on minimizing its effect on healthy nearby tissue. There are two ways of radiation theray:
* External beam radiation - A source of radiation outside of the body is used.
* Brachytherapy - A source of radiation is implanted or inserted into the body.
3. Hormonal Therapy
Male sex hormones such as testosterone are produced naturally within the body. Hormonal therapy is to block the production or effects of these hormones. More often hormonal therapy is used in conjunction with other form of cancer treatments, e.g.radiation.
Examples of hormone therapy medications:
* Anti-androgens (flutamide, nilutamide)
* LH-RH agonists (leuprolide, goserelin
* Adrenal gland blockers (ketoconazole, aminoglutethimide)
* Estrogens
4. Surgery
The primary goals of surgery are to remove the cancerous tissue from the body, to remove other structures that may contain cancer such as lymph nodes, and to minimize damage to any normal, cancer-free tissues and organs that are nearby.
- Radical Prostatectomy - The prostate,
some surrounding tissue, and the seminal vesicles are all completely
removed. This is, by far, the most commonly chosen type of surgery for
prostate cancer.
* Retropubic Radical Prostatectomy - The initial incision by the surgeon is made in the lower abdomen between the navel and just above the penis. From this site, lymph nodes near the prostate can also be removed and examined for evidence of cancer.
* Perineal Radical Prostatectomy - The initial incision by the surgeon is made in the skin between the anus and scrotum. From this site, lymph nodes cannot be removed, so a second incision is sometimes needed in the lower abdomen to remove them.
Less Common Treatment Options Besides the four primary types of prostate cancer treatments:
1. Cryotherapy
This technique utilizes special equipment to freeze the prostate in order to kill cancer cells.
2. Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is not commonly used to treat prostate cancer, but may be an option in certain men whose disease has spread outside of the prostate.
3. HIFU
HIFU
stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It is a technology that
utilizes ultrasound waves that have been focused onto a very small area
to generate intense heat at that site. Not yet approved for use in
the United States.
4. Robot-Assisted Surgery
Robotic instruments have been developed to assist surgeons in removing
the prostate. This advance has been met with a great deal of excitement
and discussion, but has its own shortcomings as well.

Prostate Diagnoses
1. Regular Screening
Men over 50 should be screened for prostate cancer annually. Men with family history of prostate cancer especially African Americans have higher rates of prostate cancer. It is advisable to start their screening at 40.Men who show prostate cancer symptoms need to undergo screening with a yearly digital rectal exam and prostate specific antigen blood test.
* Digital Rectal Exam (DRE)
This rectal examination takes 5 to 10 seconds only. The physician inserts a lubricated gloved finger into the patient's rectum and feel the edge of the prostate for abnormalities if any such as bumps or hardness of the prostate.
* Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Blood Test
High levels of PSA or rapid increases in the PSA level alerts the physician to a possible underlying prostate cancer. It just needs a small sample of blood for lab analysis.
2. Prostatic Biopsy
When abnormalities are found on DRE or PSA test, the physician will order a prostatic biopsy. This is done usually by an urologist or surgeon in their office and involves using local anesthesia. A tiny amount of tissue is trapped in the needle while it is inserted in the prostate. Then the needle is pulled out. This is repeated in a number of locations throughout the prostate minimizing the chance of missing an area where cancer may be present. The tissue samples are then sent to a pathologist who is specialized in diagnoses diseases based on microscopic findings. He makes the prostate cancer final diagnosis. He looks at the cancer cells and grade them. A high grade means very abnormal and that the cancer is more likely to spread.
3. Tests to Determine the Extent of the Cancer
To determine how far the cancer has spread, a number of tests can be used. Your physician will determine which would work best choices for you.
* Ultrasound - A thin ultrasound probe is inserted into the rectum to show ifs nearby organs and tissues affected by cancer.
* Bone Scan - It provides a detailed picture of the body's bones to find out if any areas of cancer in the bones . Prostate cancer often spreads to bones if not detected early.
* CT Scan or MRI - These two tests are used to provide detailed look of large, bulky areas of cancer outside of the prostate e.g., the organs and tissues in the abdomen and pelvis. Their use in conjunction with other tests provide the most useful findings.
* Lymph Node Biopsy -Cancers often spread to nearby lymph nodes earlier than to other tissues. By surgically removing some of the lymph nodes near the prostate and having them analyzed, your physician can better confirm the cancer condiiton.
All of these tests help to determine how far the cancer has spread or the "stage" of your cancer. Staging helps your physician determine the best treatment option for you.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a long-range, mid-size, wide-body, twin-engine commercial airplane with seat capacity of 210 to 330 passengers. According to Boeing, 787 consumes 20% less fuel than the similarly-sized Boeing 767. Some of its distinguishing features include a four-panel windshield, noise-reducing chevrons on its engine nacelles, and a smoother nose contour.
787 Dreamliner has become the fastest-selling wide-body airliner in history. By February 2011, 847 Boeing 787s had been ordered by 56 customers.
The 787 is being assembled at the Boeing Everett Factory in Everett, Washington. Production will be enhanced as new aircrafts will also be assembled in a new factory at North Charleston, South Carolina, USA.
Now, you are going to watch an amazing video which shows you how a Boeing air plane is assembled. In real life building an air plane may take months or even more time. This video shows the process of assembling in a very quick mode. It is amazingly fast yet it is breath taking. I simply say, 'Wow'! Now, enjoy and have a good day.

Artist Michael Kalish created a breath taking monument for Ali's legacy. It is a testament to the essence of the legend the world has come to know, simply, as "The Greatest."
The monument is an enormous, 360-degree, two-story structure. It is composed of five miles of stainless steel, two miles of aluminum tubing, and 1300 boxing speed bags. Viewed from nearly every angle, the result appears to be a massive, boxing-inspired rainstorm. However, if you find the exact right position, it unexpectedly becomes a 2-D vision of the timeless face of Muhammad Ali.
Conceptualized by Kalish and designed by Kalish and architectural firm Oyler Wu Collaborative, reALIze is the ultimate tribute to the iconic boxing legend scheduled opening ceremony on March 25, 2011 at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, CA.

Story
It is a true story on the plane.
A white woman age around 50, was seated next to a black man.
She was so uncomfortable she spoke to a hostess. Hostess asked 'What is the matter?' She said, 'You don't see it? You placed me next to a black guy. I do not want to sit next to a color guy. I want an alternative seat'. Flight attendant replied: 'Please relax, this flight is almost full, but I'll go to see if any space is available'.
The hostess went away, came back a few minutes later and said:
'This flight is full as I expected. All the economy class is full. I asked the captain and he told me that business class was completely full too, but in the first class there is a vacancy' . She continued saying, ' It is unusual for our company to help customers upgrade from economy class to first class, but based on current circumstances, the Captain feels that a passenger sitting next to another disgusting passenger is an insult to our company'. Then turned to the black guy said: 'So ... this gentleman, if you wish, you hold your luggage. First class seat is ready for you'.
The other passengers were shocked, but then all stood up and applauded.

Now it is up to the Senate to make final decision - vote to pass or defeat the Bill. Yet, we still have one chance to defeat the Bill. It is NOW!
If Bill C-389 is passed, men who say they are women can use women' public facilities, increasing the unpredicctable threats. It wold also lead to negative consequences in the medical, legal, education , business and other fields. For the public good, the Bill must be defeated. We need your immediate action to help! Send a letter/email to ask the Senators to vote against the Bill C389.
Action:
Go to website http://againstbillc389.blogspot.com and copy and paste the Senators' email addresses and the appeal letter attached onto your email and send it. If each time you copy one column - around 30 addresses, for three times, you send your message to around 100 Senators.

We know cancer is the number human killer. Generally, it affects the weak and old. However, there are new indications showing that cancer incidences are getting common even in the very young ones. Situations get worse in recent time despite the medicinal development. How much do you know about cancer. Here below is the world renowned John Hopkins Cancer Research updates:
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.
3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.
9 When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved.
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment.. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine.Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence,Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells
CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS HOSPITAL , U S - PLEASE READ
1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.
Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.
Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies.
Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.
Recently, Dr.. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.
This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else.
Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

As the movie unfolded on the computer screen I was stunned. My mind was brought back to the years when people of China suffered poverty and hunger as well as being killed in the chaotic turmoil, during the years of the People's Cultural Revolution. Life was miserable. Life was about survival only. The movie was shot in China and United States depicting stories between the two countries contrasting strongly the difference of cuture and value.
I like the actors especially Chi Cao who is Li Cunxin in the movie. From his performance, I am sure he is one the best Chinese ballet dancer in the world. I am not familiar with ballet. This is my first contact with ballet movie. It is superbly beautiful, classy and elegant and I am totally attracted to it like love at first sight. The way Chi Cao danced seemed effortless in his activities such as lifting the girl up smoothly and slowly above his head and shoulders, his staying time in the air when he jumped spliting his two legs, his body movements, his spinning so natural yet so powerful and balance, his facial expression, his eye contact with the audiance. They are unquely esthetic. Being ignorant of ballet and yet so in love with it my mind was totally immersed in the story.
It is an extraordinary story about the legend Li Cunxin. And here below is his true story with the Courtesy to SaxtonSpeakersBureau:
Li Cunxin was born into Mao's communist China, and at the age of 10, he was selected to train in Madame Mao's Beijing Dance Academy. And so began Li's dance career. He was 11 when he left home to begin a harsh training regime at the Beijing Dance Academy. Li hated dancing during his first two years and pined for his family. But fear of what he would return to kept him going. At first his grades were poor, but soon, under the guidance of a special teacher, his true potential was recognised and developed. Li's astounding determination and drive became apparent as he practised his turns at night by candlelight, and hopped up and down stairs with sandbags tied to his ankles to build his strength.
When he was 18 Li was offered a soloist contract with the Houston Ballet. After two years, Li defected to the West in a dramatic media storm which involved the then Vice President, Mr George Bush Snr. A few years later, he fell in love with another Houston Ballet dancer, Mary McKendry. They married in 1987, and in 1995 moved to Melbourne where Li became a principal dancer with the Australian Ballet. He quickly made an impression.
By now 34, an age at which many dancers have already hung up their shoes, Li was wondering how he would continue to support his two (soon to be three) children when his dancing career ended. Learning how to compound his money was his latest fascination, so in 1997 he began studying at the Australian Securities Institute with a view to becoming a stockbroker. For his final two years with the Australian Ballet, this meant rising at 5am to start barre work, then racing to the stock exchange by 8am to study until noon. By the time he joined the rest of the company's dancers for afternoon rehearsals; he had already put in a full day's work.
Lis extraordinary and inspirational autobiography Maos Last Dancer was published in 2003. A tale of talent, faith and determination, the book is a moving account of the moral complexities, personal costs and rich rewards of following one's dreams. In October 2009, Mao's Last Dancer has it's world wide cinema release starring Chi Cao and directed by Bruce Beresford.
Currently in its 23rd reprint, Maos Last Dancer is now sold in over 20 countries. It was awarded the Book of the Year by the Australian Booksellers Association, the Nielson BookScan (2004) and was named in Amazon.com's Break-Out Books list just weeks after its USA release.
An inspirational and motivational speaker, Li Cunxins story is a beautiful account of his extraordinary journey told with honesty, dignity and pride.
For his pursuit of love he defected. He was under house arrest by the Chinese embassy. With help from his company and lawyer, and through the U.S. Vice President George Bush he was set free. If you are in a hurry now, watch the video trailer as an introduction.
Here is a comment from Youtube about the actor Chi CAO:
he's stunning... absolutely... didn't watch the film yet... just saw the trailer, and i'm deeply impressed by his dance, his face and his figure... what a sexy Chinese man.
There is one thing which makes human standing out among all species. That is human can write, record and update what they have learned. Then organize such knowledge, experience and know-how so that they are passed on to the other people sustaining future development continuously.
Cracks are found in heels on top of dry coarse skin. At first I am not awared of the skin peels until one day I found plenty of white stuff on black hardwood floor adjacent to my bed. When I first saw them I did not know what they were. I just wondered where they came from. My curiosity led me to find out they are actually my own dry skin peeling off from the legs, feet and heels.
I needed to do something to my feet and epecially the heels. I thought it was related to dry winter and might be some moiturizer could help. I therefore applied some on the dry skin of the feet and heels. They looked temporarily better for a very short while, less than one hour. The skin was still very dry and ugly. I tried other stuff such as hand cream, foot cream. Results were no good.
Back in Hong Kong, I bought for mom's cracked heels the Locaslen Ointment (Ciba, now called Novartis). It is a prescription ointment and is very expensive. It works perfectly.
Anyway much to my surprise, I accidentally found the solution for my cracked heels. It is a crude vaseline (refined vaseline is available, but not as effective). It is greasy but does not smell. It is very cheap and availabe in any dollar shop and pharmacy. It is so greasy that it looks like the hair wax we used when we were teenagers. The method is simple.
In the morning, before I go out I do the following:
- apply small quantity of crude vaseline on the cracked heels
- message the cracked heel slowly one at a time
- put on the socks and shoes
- It is done for the whole day
Repeat the above process at night before you go to bed
The results are very satisfactory and you can see them within couple of weeks. This is my experience and I hope it is useful for you guys.
Kneeling Knees Method
Kneeling is an excellent way to keep knees healthy. It enhances the blood supply to your knees. People with knee problem, they don't want to walk because of the knee pain. Many people stay home all day. They do not dare to move resulting in accelerated deterioration of symptoms. (The lack of synovial fluid and cartilage nutrients over a long time would lead to bigger knee problem)
Walking, swimming and cycling are good exercise, but due to the knee pain, it is inconvenient to go out. How can we strengthen the knee and improve knee health?
The answer is the Kneeling Knees Method
Cartilage with synovial fluid is like a sponge filled with water. When we use the kneeling method, the kneeling posture would naturally bring in the pressure of body weight down on both knees, then the cartilage synovial fluid inside the knee will be pushed out. And when the knees are on the lift up posture, the body weight on the knees disappeared. This would produce a sucking force pulling back the synovial fluid to the cartilage, thus forming a dynamic equilibrium.
In this dynamic equilibrium process the synovial fluid entering and exiting the cartilage tissue nutrients are brought into the internal blood circulation nourishing the peripheral area. In this way the kneeling knees method can maintain the health of cartilage and strengthen the tendons around the adjacent joints. It reduces the chances of wear and tear of cartilage.
Remember to use the kneeling knees method only a few minutes each time. The elders can adjust their strength, simply use your body weight. You can achieve the above results. People can do it at home. It is time saving, easy and convenient. The elders will like this method and keep on practising this method. Your knee pain will improve and become healthy again.
You can practice the Kneeling Knees Method in a soft bed or on the carpet. By kneeling walking, blood will continuously flow to the knees, thus improving blood circulation. The cold feeling in the legs would disappear. As the legs become healthy and strong, the swollenness and pain would be gone.
People with severe knee pain shoud start this practice in a very soft bed in fixed position. Later on, gradually use slow movements driven by the waist slowly moving from side either side. As the body adjust and improve, the knee pain will slowly improve. Painful knees are no more pain.
A Note for Readers:
Check with your family doctor first before you practice this method.
Some Exercises for Arthritis & Aging : Hip & Knee Arthritis Exercises
Last week, I took my grand-children to a restaurant.
My six-year-old grand-son asked if he could say grace.
Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!"
Hearing this, my grand-son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?"
As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table.
He winked at my grand-son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer."
"Really?" my grand-son asked.
"Cross my heart," the man replied.
Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."
Naturally, I bought my grand-children ice cream at the end of the meal. My grand-son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life.
The End
I love this story!
Please keep it moving.
Sometimes, we all need some ice cream.
I hope God sends you some ice cream today!

This video is powerful and compelling. It makes people think deeper and broader the meaning of living. Life is measured in number of days when we are babies. Life is measured in years as we grow. If you live beyond a hunded years, then it is meaured with days again.e.g. 100 years plus 30 days. And finally, life is lived in hours and minutes as it approaches its end.
Life is measured but should not solely by numbers. It is more meaningful for life to be measured by the moments when our breath is taken away and how much enrichment we have brought along with our own lives.. Life is multifacet. Life is simple but can be complicated. Life is love but can turn to hatred. Life is change as life is splendid.at the same time horrible. These pictures carry me away in deep thought. Guys, turn on the speaker and watch this video with full screen to get the best effect. Enjoy and have a nice day.
