The current format of the tournament involves 32 teams competing for the title at venues within the host nation(s) over a period of about a month - this phase is often called the World Cup Finals. A qualification phase, which currently takes place over the preceding three years, is used to determine which teams qualify for the tournament together with the host nation(s). During the 18 tournaments that have been held, seven nations have won the title. Brazil have won the World Cup a record five times, and they are the only team to have played in every tournament. Italy, the current champions, have won four titles, and Germany are next with three titles. The other former champions are Uruguay, winners of the inaugural tournament, and Argentina, with two titles each, and England and France, with one title each.
The World Cup is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world, where an estimated 715.1 million people watched the final match of the 2006 World Cup held in Germany.[1] The next World Cup will be held in South Africa, between 11 June and 11 July 2010, and the 2014 World Cup will be held in Brazil.
High blood pressure, heart failure and death due to the clogging of the arteries as a result of dangerously high levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) - the "bad" cholesterol - has hit home for me more than once. I lost my mother, my brother (just recently) and a favorite aunt all due to high levels of bad cholesterol and arteries that just couldn't handle the stress. It doesn't always have to end this way. There is a solution, and the solution you will see is a simple one. In conjunction with regular exercise, you only need change your diet for the better. The key to the reduction of bad cholesterol from your diet is to increase the amount of soluble fiber in your diet. Soluble fiber found in foods like those listed below help lower total blood cholesterol levels by lowering the low-density lipoproteins or "bad" cholesterol levels.
The 7 Marvelous Foods That Can Lower Your "Bad" Cholesterol Almost Instantly
Healthy Food Number #1 - Oats, Barley and Grain - One of the best breakfasts that you could ever enjoy is one of cooked rolled oats enhanced with a slice banana or maybe some strawberries on top for a little extra soluble fiber to reduce your risk of heart disease.
Healthy Food Number #2 - Beans - Beans such as kidney, navy beans, lentils, garbanzos or black-eyed peas not only are rich in soluble fiber, but since they also take longer to digest they make you feel full longer which is a bonus for those who are trying to lose weight.
Healthy Food Number #3 - Flaxseed Oil and Virgin Olive Oil - Just by adding fresh flaxseed oil and virgin olive oil to your diet, you can lower your LDL.
Healthy Food Number #4 - Nuts - Studies have shown that with just as little as a couple of handfuls of almonds, walnuts or pecans, you can lower your LDL by as much as five percent.
Healthy Food Number #5 - Fruits - By eating generous portions of pears, grapes, strawberries, apples and citrus fruit, you are getting a rich supply of pectin which is a very valuable soluble fiber found in fruit.
Healthy Food Number #6 - Soy - You can lower your "bad" cholesterol by as much as six percent, just by adding soybeans and foods that are made from soybeans such as tofu and soy milk to your diet.
Healthy Food Number #7 - Fish - By just replacing meat with fish, for just a few times a week, you can help to lower your intake of saturated fat. As a bonus, the Omega-3 fats, the "good" fats, found in fish such as salmon can not only lower the "bad" LDL levels, but they can also help to prevent the onset of abnormal heart rhythms.

Have you ever checked your body's pH? Do you know what body pH is and how it plays an important role in good health? Do you suffer from acidosis? Many people never ask themselves these questions. Yet, body pH plays an important role in maintenance of your body' many intricate systems.
Acidity and alkalinity are measured according to the pH scale. Pure water, with a pH of 7.0, is considered neutral. Any substance with a pH below 7.0 is acid, while anything with a pH above 7.0 is alkaline. The ideal pH range for the human body is between 6.0 and 6.8 (slightly acid). For the body, values below pH 6.3 are considered on the acidic side. Values above pH 6.8 are on the alkaline side.
You can obtain a test kit and determine your own pH by doing a self test. This test will determine whether your body fluids are either too acidic or too alkaline. Apply saliva or urine to litmus paper. The paper will change color to indicate if your system is overly acidic or alkaline. Red litmus paper turns blue in an alkaline medium and blue litmus paper turns red in an acidic medium. Always perform the test either before you eat or at least one hour after eating. If your test indicates that your body is too acidic, consult the recommendations for Acidosis.
Acidosis is a condition in which the body chemistry is imbalanced and overly acidic. Symptoms of acidosis include frequent sighing, insomnia, water retention, recessed eyes, arthritis, migraine headache, abnormally low blood pressure, acid or strong perspiration, dry hard stools, foul smelling stools accompanied by a burning sensation in the anus, alternating constipation and diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, halitosis, a burning sensation in the mouth and / or under the tongue, sensitivity of the teeth to vinegar and acidic fruits, and bumps on the tongue or the roof of the mouth.
There are two classifications of acidosis: respiratory and metabolic. Respiratory acidosis is caused by an interruption of the acid control of the body and results in an overabundance of acidic fluids or the depletion of alkali. Simply put, it occurs if the lungs are unable to remove carbon dioxide. Respiratory acidosis can be a result of asthma, bronchitis, or obstruction of the airway. It can be mild or severe.
Metabolic acidosis is caused by chemical changes in the body which disturb the acid-base balance. This results in an excessive amount of acid in the body fluids. Diabetes mellitus, kidney failure, the use of unusually large amounts of aspirin and metabolic diseases are some of the conditions that can deplete the body's alkaline base. Other contributing factors can include liver and adrenal disorders, stomach ulcers, improper diet, malnutrition, obesity, ketosis, anger, stress, fear, anorexia, toxemia, fever and the consumption of excessive amounts of niacin and vitamin C.
Guidelines for avoiding or reducing pH imbalance include:
1. Practice deep breathing.
2. Eat a diet of 50 percent raw foods including apples, avocados, bananas, bilberries, blackberries, grapefruit, grapes, lemons, pears, pineapple, strawberries, and all vegetables. Fresh fruits, especially citrus fruits and vegetables reduce acidosis. Start with small amounts of citrus fruits and gradually add larger amounts.
3, Chew your food slowly, and do not overindulge. Make sure food is mixed well with saliva. Do not drink fluids during meals.
4. Prepare cooked foods with care. Maintain clean working surfaces and wash vegetables and fruit. Keep meat and vegetables separate you can contaminate vegetables with bacteria from raw meat. Do not overcook vegetables, as this makes them lose flavor and nutritional value. Eat processed foods in moderation. They are low in nutrients and overexert the digestive system. Both cooked and processed foods tend to make the body more acidic. Also avoid eating late at night.
5. Drink potato broth every day.
6. Avoid animal protein, especially beef and pork, as they contribute to acidity.
7. Avoid beans, cereals, crackers, eggs, flour products, grains, oily foods, macaroni, and sugar. Plums, prunes, and cranberries do not oxidize and therefore remain acid to the body. Avoid these until the situation improves.
8. Since excess vitamin C may lead to acidosis, reduce your intake of vitamin C for a few weeks. When taking larger does of vitamin C, use a non-acid form.
9. Heartburn and indigestion can result from poor digestion. If you suffer from heartburn, taking small swallows of a teaspoon or two of natural cider vinegar in a glass of water may be of some help. It may cause a burning sensation when you swallow it, but then, in approximately twenty minutes, you should feel relief. If this helps it may indicate you lack sufficient acid in your stomach and the vinegar compensated. In this case, consider taking a digestive enzyme supplement containing hydrochloric acid (HCL).
Check your urine pH daily and avoid acid forming foods until your pH is corrected.
ACID Forming Foods include:
Alcohol, asparagus, beans, brussels sprouts, buckwheat, catsup, chickpeas, cocoa, coffee, cornstarch, cranberries, eggs, fish, flour and flour-based products, legumes, lentils, meat, milk, mustard, noodles, oatmeal, olives, organ meats, pasta, pepper, plums, poultry, prunes, sauerkraut, shellfish, soft drinks, sugar and all foods with sugar added.
Acidosis, if allowed to go unchecked, can adversely affect health. Fortunately, it is easily detected and, it can be avoided or corrected if found.

If you want to look, feel and be healthier, breakfast is the winning meal. It breaks the night's fast and renews your energy. Because, whether you are a housewife, a busy executive or a teacher, your energy must come from food. A well balanced breakfast keeps your metabolism balanced, as you slow your aging and keeps you looking great.
A healthy breakfast jumpstarts your body. If you got in your car and the low fuel light is flashing, without a thought you would stop and add gas. This is what breakfast does for you - a frontline source to boost human energy.
A well balanced breakfast includes complex carbohydrate, protein and fat. So grabbing a donut and a cup of black coffee is not enough. As soon as you get used to your coffee high, your body is asking, so where's the beef (think protein)?
Flush the excuses! I am not talking gourmet cooking. First shop for breakfast food. Get some eggs, milk, low fat yogurt, (good sources of protein) a high fiber cereal, high fiber bread, real butter, a can of good quality sardines in olive oil and your favorite fruits. With this you can plan three well balanced breakfasts, and repeat them.
Use your microwave to cook an egg in 55 seconds. The lecithin (fat) in eggs keeps your brain sharp and complete proteins (egg white) keep your reactions speeded up until lunch. Eat it with bread and butter for fiber and the 10% saturated fat you body requires. Eat a serving of fruit. For example the pectin in an apple helps to control blood sugar and keeps your cholesterol steady. To slow aging, make a habit of excellent choices.
Let's say you only had time to eat a simple orange. Even this helps to protect your immune system which guards you against viruses like the common cold, all infections and cancer. If you chose to eat sardines instead of bacon, this healthy eating action will have a positive impact on your heart, blood vessels and bones and keep you looking and feeling younger.
A lifetime of healthy eating can slow your aging. News reports now document that there is an increase in overweight school children with Type 11 diabetes. Can humans be having aging syndromes at earlier ages?
Healthy breakfast choices with regular meals promise no weight problems! A client who's been battling weight problems told me that her initial belief was, if I don't eat breakfast I will surly eventually get slender. She then started eating breakfast, which led her to healthy choices for meals and snacks. This rhythm of eating regularly increased her metabolic rate, and she eventually lost weight!

In a Chinese modern dance competition on TV one very unique couple won
one of the top prizes. The young woman, in her 30's, was a dancer who
had trained since she was a little girl. Later in life, she lost her
entire left arm in an accident and fell into a state of depression for
a few years.
Someone then asked her to coach a Children's dancing group. From that
point on, she realized that she could not give up her love for
dancing. So, she started to do some of her old routines. But, having
lost her arm, she also lost her balance. It took a while before she
could even make simple turns and spins without falling.
Then she heard of a man in his 20s, who had lost his leg in an
accident. He had also fallen into the usual denial, depression and
anger roller coaster. But, she was determined to find him and persuade
him to dance with her.
He had never danced, and to dance with one leg....No way!
But, she didn't give up, and he reluctantly agreed. He said "I have
nothing else to do anyway." She started to teach him dancing. The two
broke up a few times because he had no concept of using muscle, how to
control his body, and knew none of the basic rules about dancing.
When she became frustrated and lost patience with him, he would walk
out. Eventually, they came back together and started training
seriously and hired a choreographer to design routines for them.
In this competition, as you will see, they dance beautifully and they
legitimately won the competition!!.
This is just a remarkable and heart-warming video of two young people
who succeeded in the face of adversity.
Consider using an exempt life insurance policy that allows for cash accumulation. You'll be providing insurance protection on your child's or grandchild's life, while maintaining control of the policy as it builds up a tax-advantaged cash accumulation that they can use to fund their education or home purchase - once you are ready to transfer the ownership of the policy.
While using a trust to transfer wealth to a younger generation can be costly and time consuming to establish, using an exempt life insurance plan can be very effective, both in terms of cost and the time it takes to set up. And a cash value, exempt life insurance plan offers yet another advantage over a trust - it allows you to maintain control of it until you decide the time is right to transfer the policy, along with it's cash value, to your child or grandchild. On the other hand, trusts typically allow you to maintain control only until the child reaches age 18 or 19.
Usually, when a life insurance policy is transferred from one party to another, a disposition is deemed to occur, and a taxable policy gain may occur. Fortunately, when a life insurance policy is transferred to the child of a policy holder, special provisions in subsection 148(8) of the Income Tax Act apply to the transaction, thus avoiding any taxable policy gain. Under these provisions, the policy is transferred to the child at the original Adjusted cost Basis (ACB), which affords the parent or grandparent the opportunity to create a significant cash accumulation in the exempt policy, while avoiding a taxable gain at the time of transfer to the child.
The tax-advantaged roll over of a life insurance policy applies as long as:
An interest in a life insurance policy is transferred to the child of a policy holder
No consideration is exchanged for the transfer of the policy
The life insured under the policy is the child of the policyholder or transferee
(See Tax Tip #4 for the definition of "child" as it pertains to this roll over).
Let's consider an application of a cash-value life insurance policy to transfer wealth to a younger generation ....
Grandpa deposits $5,000 a year for 10 years into an exempt life insurance policy. In 10 years, when granddaughter is 18 and eager to continue her education at university, Grandpa transfers the policy to her. Granddaughter can then withdraw the cash value Grandpa built up in the policy to fund her education. Granddaughter is in a low tax bracket at this point in her life, so the net withdrawals are maximized.
As the Income Tax Act restricts the amount of tax advantaged cash accumulation permitted within an exempt life insurance policy, there may be limited opportunity to create the desired cash value if the life insured is a young person. As a result, the amount of money you desire to tax-shelter within an exempt life insurance policy on a young child's life may exceed the amount of life insurance actually available on that child's life, due to financial underwriting limitations. To overcome this obstacle, Grandpa could have made his adult daughter the life insured under the policy as she is likely eligible to be underwritten for a greater face amount of life insurance. Grandpa could still roll the policy over to Granddaughter at age 18 on a tax-exempt basis, because the conditions listed above are still satisfied.
It's important to note that the policy holder must be alive at the time of the transfer. If you attempt to have the transfer executed under the terms of your will, the policy will not directly roll over to the child, but to your estate, instead. To prevent this situation from arising upon your death, you could name the child as the successor owner of the policy. This way, upon your death (the death of the policyholder), the policy will not be considered part of the deceased's estate, according to the Insurance Act.
The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency has stated that the roll over provision described in subsection 148(8) will indeed apply in such a situation.
As we've seen above, an exempt life insurance plan can do more than simply provide a means for you to leave a legacy to your heirs; a tax-advantaged cash accumulation life insurance plan can also be used to transfer wealth between generations in a very tax efficient manner!
• the distribution of your assets to your heirs may be slower and more expensive
• your estate's value may be reduced due to higher taxes
• your spouse may receive less than you had planned
• your children may obtain their share upon reaching the age of majority, whether or not they are able to handle the responsibility
• family heirlooms may be sold, rather than passed on to succeeding generations
• the court will appoint someone youmay not otherwise have chosen to administer your estate.
Today, an up-to-date Will isn't just something that's nice to have. There are legal consequences of inadequate Will planning.
To help you prepare or update your Will, there are some online legal documents/forms a comprehensive package to help you define and organize your assets and liabilities. It also provides valuable information on choosing your executors and determining your beneficiaries.
Have you thought about the possible consequences to your family if you die without a Will or with an outdated Will? The results could be quite different from what you wanted. To make sure your final wishes are carried out, it's important to have a properly drafted and up-to-date Will. Remember to review your Will - your family and business conditions may have changed and you should have an ongoing and thorough review of your Will regularly.

There is currently no official estate taxes imposed on Canadaians at the time of their death. As a result there is a perceived notion that our estates will remain intact for the future genereations. This is a illusion for most Canadians upon their death face taxes triggered off on the following:
* Tax sheltered investments
* Capital gains
* Probate fees
Tax sheltered investments
Registered Retirement Savings Plan are one of today's most attractive savings vehicles - largely due to the deferral of tax on the amount deposited. Billions of dollars are currently invested in these vehicles which can be in either the accumulation of payout stage. They may include:
*RSP- Registered Retirements Savings Plans
*RRIF- Registered Retirement Income Funds
*LA - Life Annuities
The tax impact on death can be significant in that the entire sum of money in the savings vehicle is included in your terminal return and taxed at your marginal tax rate along with all other income. e.g. if your investment total is $100,000 and you are currently taxed at 50%, the taxes to your estate could be $50,000.
Your are however allowed a rollover to a spouse without incurring the tax. This can be done by naming your spouse as the beneficiary of the investment. Using the spousal rollover provision you can transfer your assets to your spouse without triggerig any taxation, however the tax will be incur on the death of your spouse.
Capital Gains
When you die all the capital assets in your estate are treated as if they were sold at their fair market value immediately before death. Your estate is then taxed on 75% of the increase in value of the capitals asset from the time of purchase.
While not taxed as severely as income, capital gains taxation can place a significant burden on the estate as if you required liquidity which may not be available. This could result in the untimely forced liquidation of the assets. The basic method for calculating capitals gains is the fair market value less the adjusted cost base usuallly equal to the original purhcase price plus selling expenses.
While your principal residence is not subject to this tax assets that may be included are the following:
* other real estate
* certain bonds
* shares in a corporation
* interests in a partnership
* mutual funds
Capital gains taxation applied to worldwide capital assets. Therefore if you have foreign investments you may not only be subject to the Canadian capital gains tax but possibly a similar tax by the country in which your asset resides.
Probate Fees
Every province with the exception Quebec imposes probate fees. With Ontario having the highest by a wide margin. It can be argued that this is more of a wealth tax than a fee.
Probate is usually requred by third parties who seek assurance of the extent of the executor's authority. While probate may only be necessary for certian assets once it is required the entire value of the estate could then be subject to probate fees.
Professional advise is recommended especially for large estates as there are many planning tools that can used to either avoid or reduce the amount of probate fees. However probate does in many situation serve a valuable and necessary purpose and should not be avoided.
The role of life insurance in estate preservation
There are 3 primary funding methods available to pay for the taxes incurred on death:
*Borrow or use personal funds
*However funds may not be availabe at the time of death and borrowing may place an unnecessary burden on your heirs.
* Liquidate the asset
This is a common response to the capitals gains tax. However this forced l liquidation may not be well timed and the price received may be a lot less than the expected value.
*Life insurance
This is increasingly becoming the funding vehicle of choice. lIfe insurance with it's tax-free payout on death and tax-free accumulation, is undoubtedly one of the most cost-efficient estate planning tools that can be used to either reduce or elimiate the impact of these tax laiabilities.
I can offer a broad range of permanent life insurance products that can be used to fund the preservation of your estate. Some products allow for the possibility of a spousal rollover. These policies known as the Joint Last to Die concept only pay on the dealth of the second life insured.
By implementlng a financial plan which takes advantage of the tax-free benefit of life insurance a large portion of your estate can be preserved.
Reduce Estate Tax By Making Gifts
You can do a lot to minimize your estate taxes before you die. One way is to make some gifts.
Choosing The Right Financial Adviser. Like hiring a personal trainer, finding the right financial adviser can help whip your finances into shape.
You can't take your wealth with you, but you don't have to give it all to the government either.

WHAT DOES A WILL DO?
The simplest way to ensure that your funds, property and personal effects will be distributed after your death according to your wishes is to prepare a will. A will is a legal document designating the transfer of your property and assets after you die. Usually, wills can be written by any person over the age of 18 who is mentally capable, commonly stated as "being of sound mind and body."
WHO NEEDS A WILL?
Although wills are simple to create, about half of all Americans die without one (or Intestate). Without a will to indicate your wishes, the court steps in and distributes your property according to the laws of your state. Wills are not just for the rich; the amount of property you have is irrelevant. A will ensures that what assets you do have will be given to family members or other beneficiaries you designate. If you have no apparent heirs and die without a will, it's even possible the state may claim your estate.
Having a will is especially important if you have young children because it gives you the opportunity to designate a guardian for them in the event of your death. Without a will, the court will appoint a guardian for your children who may be someone you do not even know.
WHAT ARE THE ELEMENTS OF A WILL?
What you generally need to make a will:
1) Your name and place of residence;
2) Names and addresses of spouse, children and other beneficiaries, such as charities or friends;
3) Alternate beneficiaries, in the event a beneficiary dies before you do;
4) Name and address of an Executor/ Executrix to manage your estate;
5) Name and address of an alternative Executor/Executrix, in the event your first choice is unable or unwilling to act;
6) Name and address of a guardian for your minor children;
7) Name and address of an alternative guardian, in the event your first choice is unable or unwilling to act;
8) The age you wish your minor children to have control of their inheritance;
9) Any burial requests you may have (cremation, where you want to be buried, etc.);
10) Your signature;
11) Two Witnesses' signatures; and
12) Notarization.
Two of the most important items included in your will are naming a guardian for minor children and naming an Executor/ Executrix.
WHAT IS A GUARDIAN?
In most cases, a surviving parent assumes the role of sole guardian. However, it's important to name a guardian for minor children in your will in case neither you nor your spouse is able and willing to act. The guardian you choose should be over 18 and willing to assume the responsibility. Talk to the person ahead of time about what you are asking. You can name a couple as co-guardians, but that may not be advisable. It's always possible the guardians may choose to go their separate ways at some later date, and, if so, a custody battle could ensue. If you do not name a guardian to care for your children, a judge will appoint one, and it may not be someone you would have chosen.
WHAT IS A EXECUTOR/EXECUTRIX AND WHAT DO THEY DO?
An Executor/Executrix is the person who oversees the distribution of your assets in accordance with your will. Most people choose their spouse, an adult child, a relative, or a friend to fulfill this duty.
If no Executor/Executrix is named in a will, a Probate Judge will appoint one. Probate refers to the legal procedure for the orderly distribution of property in a person's estate. The Executor/Executrix files the will in probate court, where a Judge decides if the will is valid. If it is found to be valid, assets are distributed according to the will. If the will is found to be invalid, assets are distributed in accordance with state laws.
Responsibilities usually undertaken by an Executor/Executrix include:
--Paying valid creditors;
--Paying taxes;
--Notifying Social Security and other agencies and companies of your death;
--Canceling credit cards, magazine subscriptions, etc.; and
--Distributing assets according to the will.
WHAT ABOUT UPDATING MY WILL?
You'll probably need to update your will several times during the course of your life. For example, a change in marital status, the birth of a child or a move to a new state should all prompt a review of your will. You can update your will by amending it by way of a Codicil or by drawing up a new one. Generally, people choose to issue a new will that supersedes the old document. Be sure to destroy the old will after you sign a new one.
WHAT ABOUT ESTATE TAXES?
The property included in your will may be subject to taxation. In planning your will, take into account the following:
---Federal estate taxes will generally be due if the net taxable estate is worth more than $1,000,000. This amount is scheduled to gradually increase from $1,000,000 in 2002/2003 to $3,500,000 in 2009 so that it will eventually shield $3,500,000 in gift or estate transfers from tax per taxpayer. Estates in excess of the exempt amount can be taxed at a rate from 37% to 50% (the top percentage is scheduled to gradually decrease to 45% in 2009). Also, note that these estate tax changes are scheduled to be repealed in 2010. If not extended, the tax law will revert to the estate and gift tax provisions in affect in 2001. Consult a tax or financial professional to determine a plan that is right for you and your family.
---State death or inheritance taxes
---Federal income taxes
---State income taxes
You may be able to minimize your estate tax by establishing a trust or giving gifts during your lifetime. You can also cover the cost of estate taxes by purchasing a life insurance policy intended to pay taxes. Talk to your life insurance agent to find out more about how this works.
WHERE SHOULD I KEEP MY WILL?
Once your will is written, store it in a safe place that is accessible to others after your death. I suggest that you keep it in a fire proof box that you can purchase at any office supply store. I do not suggest that you keep your will in a safe deposit box because many states will seal your safe deposit box upon your death. Make sure a close friend or relative knows where to find your will.
WHAT IS A LIVING WILL?
A living will is not a part of your will. It is a separate document that lets your family members know what type of care you do or don't want to receive should you become terminally ill or permanently unconscious. It becomes effective only when you cannot express your wishes yourself. Discuss your wishes as reflected in your living will with family members, and be sure all your doctors have a signed copy.
WHAT IS A POWER OF ATTORNEY FOR HEALTH CARE (HEALTH CARE PROXY)?
A power of attorney for health care (health care proxy) is not a part of your will. It is a separate document that authorizes someone you name to act in accordance with your medical intentions. It becomes effective only when you cannot express your wishes yourself. You should make sure that all your doctors have a signed copy.
WHAT IS A FINANCIAL DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY?
A financial durable power of attorney is not a part of your will. It is a separate document that authorizes someone you name to act in accordance with your financial intentions. It becomes effective only when you cannot express your wishes yourself. You should make sure that all your financial professionals (stockbrokers, accountants, financial planners) and banks have a signed copy.
PLAN AHEAD
The end of your life is something you probably don't want to dwell on, but thinking about what will happen to your loved ones and your assets and personal possessions is important. Making sure you've done all you can to make their lives easier will give you peace of mind. And once your will is drafted, you won't have to think about it again unless something significant in your life changes.

Why do I need will plan?
Why do I need a Will? What is the benefit of having a will?
A properly drafted Will is at the foundation of a financial plan. Having a valid Will means: • ensuring your family will have its future needs met
• your assets will be distributed according to your wishes
• the value of your estate will not be eroded unnecessarily through costly court and estate administration fees.
A Will, along with debt reduction, an emergency fund, disability insurance, life insurance and regular savings, provides a solid foundation on which to build your financial plan - protecting your family now and well into the future.
Your insurance advisor will be pleased to assist you in the preparation of your Will. He or she can also provide you with information on the use of life insurance in estate planning.

WILL PLANNING
It's important to have a Will so that, when you die, your wishes are followed. Your estate will be divided up as you wish, your children and other dependents will be taken care of and your assets will go where you want them to. Having a Will also avoids legal hassles which can be time-consuming and costly to those you leave behind.
What happens if I don't have a Will?
If you don't have a Will, your wishes may not be followed, even if they are known. Instead, your estate is distributed according to provincial law. This could mean:
• the distribution of your assets to your heirs may be slower and more expensive
• your estate's value may be reduced due to higher taxes
• your spouse may receive less than you had planned
• your children may obtain their share upon reaching the age of majority, whether or not they are able to handle the responsibility
• family heirlooms may be sold, rather than passed on to succeeding generations
• the court will appoint someone youmay not otherwise have chosen to administer your estate.
Why consult a legal advisor?
There are certain rules you must follow to have a valid Will. Careful wording is important and can mean the difference between a valid and an invalid
Will. If you do not consult a qualified professional advisor you may be leaving your heirs with legal headaches.
For example, if the court does not agree with the way you have prepared your Will, or parts of it are unclear, it may decide to change the Will or even
declare it invalid.
Each province has its own laws regarding Wills and your legal advisor will ensure that yours meets these requirements.
What questions should I consider before consulting a legal advisor?
• Who should be your executor and trustee? Have you obtained their consent? Is there an alternative choice? What powers do you want them to have?
• Who should be the guardian of your children if both you and your spouse die while the children are still minors?
• Do you want your children to inherit the estate after the death of your spouse?
• Are there any specific bequests to friends or charities?
• How do you want your business interests to be handled?
• How do you want your home to be dealt with?
• What do you want done with your household goods, car and personal effects?
• Do you want to set up a trust fund for someone?
When should my Will be updated?
Once you have prepared your initial Will, you must remember to keep it updated. You should review your Will regularly and amend it whenever there is a significant change in your life or to the lives of your heirs (e.g. marriages or divorces, births or deaths, children growing up, the purchase or sale
of a business, etc.). You should also review your Will if there are changes to
income tax, family or .succession laws.

It is everyone's hope to be able to retire in relative comfort in their later years, after they've paid their dues and worked hard at their chosen profession for what may seem like the majority of their life. Unfortunately, many people find retirement a much loftier goal than they had originally envisioned... though they've spent years working, it seems that they neglected to build a savings or make plans for the money that they would need for the day-to-day expenses of living.
Luckily, it doesn't take much to establish plans on how to pay for your retirement and those plans can generally be put into action quite easily. Here are a few suggestions that you might want to think about and possibly incorporate into your own retirement plans.
Start Saving Early
The first thing that you can do to help ensure that you'll have the money you need to retire on is to begin saving for your retirement earlier in life. As soon as you can afford to, begin putting money into a savings account that was opened specifically for building up savings for your retirement. Many banks have specialized retirement accounts that offer slightly better interest rates but which carry fines for early or excessive withdrawal. This might be just the thing for individuals who find it difficult to simply leave money in the bank for long periods of time... they can still access the money if needed, but they'll have to pay the fines associated with it as well.
Make Smart Investments
A well-diversified stock portfolio can help to build up a retirement fund as the years go by. Some specialized stock plans (such as IRA's) are even designed for retirement planning and have special features such as tax deferral until the plan is cashed in after retirement. These plans aren't a necessity if you're wanting to help build a retirement fund using the stock market, however; carefully choosing stocks that will likely perform well over a long-term investment that are balanced by mutual funds, precious metal and industrial indexes, and a variety of bonds and other investments can do just as well without a specialized investment plan.
Consider Retirement Plans from Work
Most workplaces have some form of retirement plan available for employees, though these plans may vary from one employer to the next. Pension funds, while once quite common, are beginning to be offered less and less often in favor of employer-sponsored investment plans (such as 401(k) plans) and other types of retirement benefits. The various retirement plans that are offered by employers can differ greatly, and there are some employers that offer no retirement benefits at all. It's important to check with your employer before assuming whether any retirement plans are offered or not.
Plan for the Long Term
Whether you're utilizing bank features such as savings accounts and certificates of deposit, considering various investment plans through your preferred broker, or relying on the retirement plans that are offered by your employer, it's important that you keep the long-term goal of having the money that you need to pay for your retirement in mind. Weigh your options carefully and choose the retirement plan or plans (because you can do a little bit of everything if you want to) that are right for you and your retirement funding. Remember, it's never to early to start planning for the days of your retirement... and it's never to late, either.

Thought you all needed to know this:-
This is pretty good info. Ever thought about key cards containing anything other than an access code for the room?!
HOTEL KEY CARDS
Ever wonder what is on your magnetic key card?
Answer:
a. Customer's name
B. Customer's partial home address
c. Hotel room number
d. Check-in date and out dates
e. Customer's credit card number and expiration date!
When you turn them in to the front desk your personal information is there for any employee to access by simply scanning the card in the hotel scanner.. An employee can take a hand full of cards home and using a scanning device, access the information onto a laptop computer and go shopping at your expense.
Simply put, hotels do not erase the information on these cards until an employee reissues the card to the next hotel guest. At that time, the new guest's information is electronically 'overwritten' on the card and the previous guest's information is erased in the overwriting process.
But until the card is rewritten for the next guest, it usually is kept in a drawer at the front desk with YOUR INFORMATION ON IT!
The bottom line is: Keep the cards, take them home with you, or destroy them. NEVER leave them behind in the room or room wastebasket, and NEVER turn them into the front desk when you check out of a room. They will not charge you for the card (it's illegal) and you'll be sure you are not leaving a lot of valuable personal information on it that could be easily lifted off with any simple scanning device card reader.
For the same reason, if you arrive at the airport and discover you still have the card key in your pocket, do not toss it in an airport trash basket. Take it home and destroy it by cutting it up, especially through the electronic information strip!
If you have a small magnet, pass it across the magnetic strip several times.. Then try it in the door, it will not work. It erases everything on the card.

Safety Alert....!!!!
Here's some reasons why we don't allow cell phones in operating areas, propylene oxide handling and storage area, propane, gas and diesel refueling areas.
The Shell Oil Company recently issued a warning after three incidents in which mobile phones (cell phones) ignited fumes during fueling operations
In the first case, the phone was placed on the car's trunk lid during fueling; it rang and the ensuing fire destroyed the car and the gasoline pump.
In the second, an individual suffered severe burns to his face when fumes ignited as he answered a call while refueling his car!
And in the third, an individual suffered burns to the thigh and groin as fumes ignited when the phone, which was in his pocket, rang while he was fueling his car..
You should know that: Mobile Phones can ignite fuel or fumes
Mobile phones that light up when switched on or when they ring release enough energy to provide a spark for ignition
Mobile phones should not be used in filling stations, or when fueling lawn mowers, boat, etc.
Mobile phones should not be used, or should be turned off, around other materials that generate flammable or explosive fumes or dust, (I.e., solvents, chemicals, gases, grain dust, etc...)
TO sum it up, here are the Four Rules for Safe Refueling:
1) Turn off engine
2) Don't smoke
3) Don't use your cell phone - leave it inside the vehicle or turn it off
4) Don't re-enter your vehicle during fueling.
Bob Renkes of Petroleum Equipment Institute is working on a campaign to try and make people aware of fires as a result of 'static current or electricity' at gas pumps. His company has researched 150 cases of these fires.
His results were very surprising:
1) Out of 150 cases, almost all of them were women.
2) Almost all cases involved the person getting back in their vehicle while the nozzle was still pumping gas. When finished, they went back to pull the nozzle out and the fire started, as a result of static current or electricity.
3) Most were on rubber-soled shoes.
4) Most men never get back in their vehicle until completely finished. This is why they are seldom involved in these types of fires.
5) Don't ever use cell phones when pumping gas.
6) It is the vapors that come out of the gas that cause the fire, when connected with static current.
7) There were 29 fires where the vehicle was re-entered and the nozzle was touched during fueling from a variety of makes and models. Some resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle, to the station, and to the customer.
8) Seventeen fires occurred before, during or immediately after the gas cap was removed and before fueling began.
Mr. Renkes stresses to NEVER get back into your vehicle while filling it with gas.
If you absolutely HAVE to get in your vehicle while the gas is being pumped, make sure when you get out, close the door TOUCHING THE METAL PART, before you ever pull the nozzle out. This way the static current /electricity from your body will be discharged before you ever remove the nozzle.
As mentioned earlier, The Petroleum Equipment Institute, along with several other companies now, are really trying to make the public aware of this danger.
Please send this information to ALL your family members and friends, especially those who have kids in the car with them while pumping gas. If this were to happen to them, they may not be able to get the children out in time. Thanks for passing this along.
The train that never stops at a station: How to get on and off the
non-stop high speed train! A new Chinese train innovation - How to get on & off the bullet train without stopping.
No time is wasted. The bullet train is moving all the time.
There are 30 stations between Beijing and Guangzhou, so just stopping and accelerating again at each station will waste both energy and time. A mere 5 min stop per station (elderly passengers cannot be hurried) will result in a total loss of 5 min x 30 stations or 2.5 hours of train journey time!
The Chinese are innovative enough to come up with a non-stopping train concept.
When the train arrives at a station, it will not stop at all. The passenger at a station embarked onto to a connector cabin way before the train even arrive at the station. When the train arrives, it will not stop at all. It just slows down to pick up the connector
cabin which will move with the train on the roof of the train. While the train is still travelling away from the station, those passengers will board the train from the connector cabin mounted on the train's roof.
After fully unloading all its passengers, the cabin connector cabin will be moved to the back of the train so that the next batch of outgoing passengers who want to alight at the next station will board the connector cabin at the rear of the train roof.
When the train arrives at the next station, it will simply drop the
whole connector cabin at the station itself and leave it behind at the
station. The outgoing passengers can take their own time to disembark at the station while the train had already left. At the same time, the train will pick up the incoming embarking passengers on another connector cabin in the front part of the train's roof. So the train will always drop one connector cabin at the rear of its roof and pick up a new connector cabin in the front part of the train's roof at each station.

China's new system connects the cities of Guangzhou and Wuhan at an average speed of 217mph - and it took just four years to build. The super-high-speed train reduces the 664-mile
journey to just a three-hour ride and cuts the previous journey time by more than seven-and-a-half hours.

Travelers boarded a high-speed train which headed to Guangzhou in Wuhan, Hubei Province, on Boxing Day
The train can go at 245mph, it's the fastest train in operation in the world. Test runs for the service began earlier in December and the link officially went into service when the first scheduled
train left the eastern metropolis of Wuhan on Saturday.
By comparison, the average for high-speed trains in Japan was 150mph while in France it was 172mph. Beijing has an ambitious rail development programme aimed at increasing the national
network from the current 53,437 miles to 74,564 miles, making it the most extensive rail system outside the United States.
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/12/26/article-0-07B3548E000005DC-766_964x388_popup.jpg

The link is expected to pose a real threat to airlines running flights linking the cities. High-speed rail has three advantages over air travel: it is more convenient, more punctual and has a better
safety record. The network uses technology developed in co-operation with foreign firms such as Siemens, Bombardier and Alstom.
Tickets for the service - which also stops at Changsha, capital of Hunan - went on sale at new stations in the three cities last weekend, with prices ranging from 780 yuan (£71) for first class to 490 yuan (£45) for second class.

He was told a twin-engine plane would be waiting for him at the airport.
Arriving at the airfield, he spotted a plane warming up outside a hanger.
He jumped in with his bag, slammed the door shut, and shouted, 'Let's go'.
The pilot taxied out, swung the plane into the wind and took off.
Once in the air, the photographer instructed the pilot, 'Fly over the valley and make low passes so I can take pictures of the fires on the hillsides.'
'Why?' asked the pilot.
'Because I'm a photographer for CNN' , he responded, 'and I need to get
some close up shots.'
The pilot was strangely silent for a moment, finally he stammered, 'So, what you're telling me, is . . . You're NOT my flight instructor?'
Life is short.......
