Today is the first day of the new year. I woke up early at 6:30 am. The hangover from the New Year Eve countdown party by The La Salle Old Boys Association (Toronto) at Palace Chinese Restaurant Totonto is still there. Chinese food and imported wine were abundant. Every body including all the old boys their spouses, family members and friends enjoyed the moment of this annual gathering.
There were over 400 people. Most of them are guests I meant the ladies. My table was close to the dancing area. It was fully packed whenever the dance music began. Old songs of the 50 to 70 brought us back the memories when we were young at our teens.
The first song which kicked off the countdown party dancing was 'Tonight' 今晚夜 a Chinese pop song of the 80s originally sung by Teresa Chan. The melody and lyric perfectly matched the function of this annual gathering at the New Year Eve.
Other old songs of the boomers generation by super stars such as Always in My Mind by Elvis Presley, Twist by Chubby Check, Changing Partners by Patty Page, 月亮代表我的心Teresa Teng, etc brought us back to the time when we chased after the girls at school.
The food was so so good that they were totally consumed and no doggie bags or stylofoam box requrired. The wine both red and white were abundant. I drank a little bit only as I have to drive home with Julie in safe after the party which finiished at 1:00 am.
Thanks to all the old boys who organized the New Year Eve countdown party. .
