Yoga for Better Baby Boomer Sex

| 1 Comment | 0 TrackBacks
Author: Dr Karen

So you want to have sex, but as a baby boomer, you feel too old to do it? Your body's fitness doesn't match up to your mind's amorous intentions? Or for female boomers, is menopause making sex less enjoyable? And for male boomers, are prostrate issues getting in the way? Well, you needn't fret too much because yoga is here to help!

Yoga poses for boomers to enjoy better sex

Yoga helps in keeping you fit, makes your body more flexible, lets your mind relax and makes you more aware of the sensations in your body. Often boomer sex falls victim to stress, age, lack of physical fitness and the consequential lack of confidence in one's body. The following yoga poses can help boomers combat these passion killers:

Upavista Konasana or the Wide Straddle Forward Bend

Step1- Sit on the floor and spread your legs

Step2- Flex your ankles so that your toes are pointing upwards

Step 3-Bend forward but go only as far as is comfortable

Step 4- Deep breathe and stay in this position for 10-15 seconds

Step 6- Return to the first position. Relax. Repeat the exercise 4-5 times

Benefits to Boomers- Increases blood flow in your pelvis, which means more sensation in the area. Increase in sensation means more sexual pleasure

Baddha Konasana or the Cobbler's Pose

Step1: Sit with your knees bent in such a way that the soles of your feet touch the floor

Step 2- Hold your toes, round your back and lean over your knees

Step 3- Deep breathe and stay in this position for 10-15 seconds

Step 4- Return to the first position.

Step 5- Relax and repeat the exercise 4-5 times

Benefits to Boomers: Alleviates symptoms related to menopause like uterine disorders, irritability, fatigue and anxiety.

The Mool Bandha or The Root Lock Pose

Step 1- Sit on the floor with your back straight

Step 2- Tighten your pelvic area and take a deep breath in

Step 3- Hold and count till 5

Step 4- Release and relax

Step 5- Repeat 5-6 times

Benefit- Strengthens your pelvic floor, thus giving stronger contractions and releases, which can help you experience a more intense orgasm.

These are just a few examples; yoga offers a lot more asanas and poses which can transform any boomer's sex life from frigid cold to steamy hot! So don't let age, fitness or stress bully you anymore, get yoga to deal with them.

Boom, Baby, Boom

After the end of World War II, the world saw an incredible rise in the birth rate, which was quickly dubbed the 'Baby Boom'. A 'boomer' is defined as someone born between 1946 and 1964. In addition, the marriage rate boomed in 1950, which pushed the baby boomer explosion even higher. Today we have very active and optimistic aging populations all over the globe. The boomers are the fastest growing demographic in the world. 'Seventy' has become the new 'fifty' and every seven seconds a baby boomer turns fifty. People are living longer, acting younger, and doing more. Society's view of older workers has changed. Many countries have done away with mandatory retirement at age sixty-five and this has made boomers very happy. Many are not ready to give up their working life. Participation from boomers in the workforce is rising and includes a higher proportion of woman than men.

Un-Retirement, What the Heck is That?

It's no secret that the world is experiencing a global economic downturn. Countries all over the world, one by one, are declaring a recession. Contrary to popular belief, a great many baby boomers are not retired. Many older workers do decide to retire of course, but many who have already retired have decided to 'un-retire'. That is, they are either staying in the workforce by continuing their present employment, or they are re-joining the workforce again and making new career choices. They want to do different things and above all, have fun. Perhaps they are working in a field that they hobby in, like a golf club, pet or fabric store. Many are starting their own businesses, perhaps for the first time in their lives. They are doing this for many reasons.

Options, We Have Options!

There is no question that boomers are not sitting on the sidelines. They are looking for fluid, flexible and non-traditional working arrangements and they are looking with vigor.

There are basically two types of work opportunities available to them.

Firstly, work for others.

This is the more traditional approach and one which most of us have done at one time or another. It comes with its own positive and negatives. If you work for someone else and the business changes, you may find that you lose your job. Losing a job is stressful and often brings on related health issues. In addition, employers lose employees that take valuable expertise with them.

The other work opportunity is self-employment.

Once enjoyed by the entrepreneurial elite minority, it has become the "Next Big Thing" for Baby Boomers. Taking this idea one-step further, has spawned the home-based business. These small businesses offer boomers an incredible amount of opportunity. Boomers care about their health, probably because they see health and fitness as a way of staving off age. Poor health costs us all money. It costs the unhealthy individual money and costs the community as well. Baby Boomers refuse to be or act old until it's absolutely unavoidable. They have a desire for more income for daily life or future retirement. Perhaps they don't have a pension; they have a high cost of living, retirement plans that are unfeasible or other problems. Continuing to work past retirement age can guarantee a salary and important social interaction. They want to give back and help others or they want extra money for travel, to see the world and have new experiences before it's too late.

Working from home requires discipline, but the advantages are amazing. A home-based business can offer time flexibility and feelings of productivity. They offer the ability to be your own boss and work in the comfort of your own home. Many of these businesses require only a very low capital outlay. Boomers want more out of life and they are going to get it.

The Perks of Staying in the Workforce

The Baby Boomers often hold strong attachments to the workforce combined with good old-fashioned work ethics. Continuing to work enhances their self-esteem, provides an opportunity to contribute to society and build wealth. Mental stimulation has proven to be a very important part of aging well. Boomers also have a desire to continuing learning and experience enjoyment.

Boomers and Skills for Business?

The Boomer is a valuable asset to business. They offer a lifetime of transferable workplace skills, patience, and knowledge. Age brings on "an emotional wisdom", the gift of better understandings another's thoughts and feelings. As we age, we gain the ability to judge another's character well, and are able to control our own negative emotions.

The Community Benefits

The large size of the baby boomer generation has prompted all sorts of new business opportunities for services and products. Sales to the boomer market are extremely desirable due to its sheer size. Their peers recognize that the boomers are well-qualified members of the community that they can trust and rely on. They have reliability and experience. The younger generation can't always compete with these skills. Many boomer-run home-based businesses fill an important role in the community by providing services and products that boomers and non-boomers alike want.

The Next Step

A career choice is always an important decision. Before you decide what you want to do, always play to your strengths. If you love what you're doing, keep doing it. If you want to try something completely new, use your strengths as a foundation to move forward.

Many of the skills that Baby Boomers have acquired can be utilized to be their own boss, build wealth, and enjoy the associated benefits that this brings to their lives.

It's a 'Win/Win' for everyone. The community wins...the economy wins... and the boomer wins...www.GrtSuccess.com.au

Hawaii Homes for Baby Boomers

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks
Author: Gen Wright
When the war ended, there is a sudden increase in the population. These are the baby boomers and as they now comprise a big fraction of the population, there are many people who consider them as an important aspect on how the society goes. Today, most baby boomers are now on their retiring age and are demanding for retirement plans and homes. The Hawaii homes are a popular choice for these people because of the different benefits that they can get from it.

Baby boomers are those who were born after the World War II. As mentioned, they cover a bulk of today's population and if you want to get into the right business, catering to these people would be one of the best options for you. Since their age is approaching the period for retirement, you can consider their needs and find more time on learning how you will be able to cater to them.

Since Hawaii already has a good reputation, there are many people who would want to stay in the area and spend their vacation. As the demand is more prevalent because they are needed by the baby boomers, and there are also many people who are finding ways to cater to the needs of the population, there are already many Hawaii homes built today. This shows an increase in the supply as the demand is expected to increase in the near future. It continues to increase as there are also many individuals who demand for the property. There are already big companies waiting for the baby boomers to use their services and to provide the most convenient accommodation that they can have.

Most of the needs of the baby boomers are already considered and as the companies are trying their best efforts to get the attention of their intended audience, the baby boomers, more improvements and developments are done. This makes the Hawaii homes that are built today even better than those in the past.

With this knowledge in mind, you can assume that those who built Hawaii homes today are on the right track. The demand will increase soon and this will result to a higher price. Before the demand increases as the baby boomers demand for the properties, you can take advantage of today's market when the demand is not yet at its peak. You will already be able to save some of your money when you start investing now and avoid the sudden increase in the demand for the real estate properties. Aside from these, the properties today are still new and you can already acquire them now.

If you are a baby boomer, or even if you're not, purchasing Hawaii homes today can be a big opportunity. You can purchase the property today and use it in the future for yourself or you can also sell it in the future when its value becomes higher. No matter what option you will take, there are still benefits of acquiring the properties today.

Top Five Gifts for Baby Boomers

Author: SEM Expert

BoomerYearbook.com - December, 2008 - Getting gifts for Baby Boomers can be quite easy, after all - we know what we want. These gifts may be familiar or common. Some may be extravagantly luxurious; others are simple, and some just border on the lavishly insane. But the reality is many boomers are successful, educated and self - aware. We know what we want and what we like, and thus the taste of the Boomer Generation is quite unique.

Top Five Gifts for Baby Boomers

For starters, how about a trip to some luxurious vacation place, complete with a well planned itinerary that covers everything from what to do, what to see, where to visit, eat, travel arrangements, car service and the like. Many Baby Boomers have lots of time on their hands in the present (or near future), and what better way is there to spend it than traveling and flying first class, when all one has to worry about is what to wear.

Retirement is a central issue for Baby Boomers. Some of us are already retired, and others of us couldn't imagine our lives without our working worlds. But in either case, retirement is on the front burner of any boomers life plan. With that in mind, one of the best gifts for a Baby Boomer is the chance to do what we really want to do, and to do it now. That dream may be taking up photography, designing jewelry, taking up a new sport, opening a coffee shop - the things we have put on hold when we were working and raising our children. Items that could help us pursue our dreams and activities are great gift options. For instance, a good digital camera for the budding photographer, sports equipment for the new sport and the list goes on.
Top Five Gifts for Baby Boomers

Health is also one of the concerns of Baby Boomers, and in the quest for health, fitness gift certificates and memberships to spas, yoga, or aerobics classes are great gifts. Getting a personal trainer would be over the top - but really spectacular if it is someone you truly want to impress and can afford to do so. Other items such as home spa and relaxation kits or fitness and exercise clothing are also gifts well worth considering.

Aside from fitness, Baby Boomers want to be and stay beautiful; for our significant others, for the people we work with, socialize with, may be interested in dating, and most importantly, for the reflection we see in our mirrors. And don't think we are just talking about women. Today's male baby boomer has his own special rituals and beauty regimens. Depending on the receiver's preference and personal values, a gift can include a trip to the dermatologist for facials or skin whitening/clarifying or non-surgical anti-aging treatments such as Botox, or Collagen fillers, or a life-changing plastic surgery procedure, or even just to a beauty or facial center for foot spas and some hair removal.

And lastly, a good boomer gift is anything that has to do with home improvement. When Baby Boomers spend time at home, they want it to be relaxing. So whether it's buying that new LCD TV, (or the universal remote for the LCD based on the giver's budget) or that new accessory to give the right panache-a great boomer gift matches the comfort and style of its recipient.

brittany murphy.jpgBrittany Murphy died suddenly on Sunday in Los Angelos.  News are spreading that she died of anorexia.  It is  an eating disorder commonly found in young females who overdo their weight control.  I remember not too long ago, a young Brazilian model Ana Carolina Restonalso died of anorexia.

This afternoon, before I write this post I check for detailed information about anorexia.  I would like to put more posts for my readers about this dangerous eating disorder under 'Boomer Health'.

Living in Canada

Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has
                    to say about Canadians:

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from
September through May,
you may live in Canada.

If someone in a Home Depot store
offers you assistance and they don't work there,
you may live in Canada.

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time,
you may live in Canada.

If you've had a lengthy  telephone conversation
With someone who dialled a wrong number,
you may live in Canada.

If 'vacation' means going anywhere
South of Detroit for the weekend,
you may live in Canada.

If you measure distance in hours,
you may live in Canada.

If you know several people
who have hit a deer more than once,
you may live in Canada.

If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C'
in the same day and back again,
you may live in Canada.

If you can drive 90 km/hr through 2 feet of snow
during a raging blizzard without flinching,
you may live in Canada.

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked,
you may live in  Canada.

If you carry jumper cables in your car
and your wife knows how to use them,
you may live in Canada.

If you design your kid's Halloween costume
to fit over a snowsuit,
you may live in Canada.

If the speed limit on the highway is 80 km --
you're going 95 and everybody is passing you,
you may live in Canada.

If driving is better in the winter
because the potholes are filled with snow,
you may live in Canada.

If you know all 4  seasons:
almost winter, winter, still winter,
and road construction,
you may live in Canada.

(this is my favourite, because how true)

If you have more  miles
on your snow blower than your car,
you may live in Canada.

If you find -2 degrees 'a little chilly',
you may live in Canada.

If you actually understand these jokes,
and forward them to all
your friends,
you definitely are Canadian and proud to be.

A monster snow storm hits the North East Coast.  It is going to impact  a significant portion of the U.S. population on Christmas activities.

The weather forecasts predict the storm of the decade.  This is dampening the opportunity for retailers to recoup lost sales during the economic slow down.  By the way monster snow storm is also referred as Blizzard.

Abstract from Wikipedia regarding blizzard:

According to Environment Canada, a winter storm must have winds of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more, have snow or blowing snow, visibility less than 500 ft (about 110 mile), a wind chill of less than −25 °C (−15 °F), and that all of these conditions must last for 3 hours or more before the storm can be properly called a blizzard.

In the United States, the National Weather Service defines a blizzard as sustained 35mph (56 km/h) winds which lead to blowing snow and cause visibilities of 500ft or less, lasting for at least 3 hours. Temperature is not taken into consideration when issuing a blizzard warning, but the nature of these storms is such that cold air is often present when the other criteria are met.[1] Temperatures are generally below 0 °C (32 °F).

Many European countries, such as the UK, have a lower threshold: the Met Office defines a blizzard as "moderate or heavy snow" combined with a mean wind speed of 30 mph (48 km/h) and visibility below 650 feet (200 m).

When there are blizzard conditions but no snow falling, meteorologists call this a ground blizzard because all the snow is already present at the surface of the earth and is simply being blown by high winds. Ground blizzards require large expanses of open and relatively flat land with a sufficient amount of accumulated and loosely packed, powdery snow to be blown around.

On November 25, 2009, supermarket tabloid The National Enquirer published a story claiming that Woods had an extramarital affair with nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel‎, a claim she denied.[206] The story began to attract media attention when Woods had a car accident a day and a half later. He was leaving his home around 2:30 a.m. (EST) in his SUV, a 2009 Cadillac Escalade, when he collided with a hedge, a fire hydrant, and finally a tree down the street.Woods was treated for minor facial lacerations, and cited for careless driving. He refused to speak to the police and the accident fanned intense speculation for the following two days until he released a statement on his website. He took blame for the crash, but said it was a private matter; he also praised his wife Elin for getting him out of the car. Woods later announced that he would not attend his own charity golf tournament, the Chevron World Challenge, or any other remaining tournaments in 2009.

Interest in the story grew until San Diego cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs publicly claimed in the gossip magazine Us Weekly, that she had a two and a half year affair with Woods, producing voice and text messages that she said Woods left her. The voice message stated: "Hey it's Tiger, I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone...You got to do this for me. Huge. Quickly. Bye." Woods released an apology on the same day the story was published, expressing regret for "transgressions" and saying "I have let my family down." Woods was not specific about the reason for the apology, and requested privacy.

After over a dozen women claimed in various media outlets that they had affairs with Woods, media pressure increased. On December 11, he released another statement, admitting to "infidelity" and offering another apology. Woods' December 11 statement also announced an indefinite hiatus from professional golf. The day after the statement, several companies indicated they were reconsidering endorsement deals. Gillette suspended advertising featuring Woods, and said they would not be hiring him for any public appearances for the company. On December 13, management consultancy firm Accenture completely cut its sponsorship of Woods, stating that the golfer was "no longer the right representative."

On December 15, 2009, The New York Times reported that Anthony Galea, a Canadian sports doctor who had previously treated Woods, was under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for allegedly providing the drug Actovegin and human growth hormone to athletes. According to the same article, Galea visited Woods at his Orlando home at least four times in February and March of 2009 to administer a special blood-spinning technique, and that Woods had responded well to the treatment. The Associated Press reported that Dr. Galea was also under investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for "smuggling, advertising and selling unapproved drugs as well as criminal conspiracy".

As a result of his infidelity, Woods' U.S. popularity has plummeted according to a USA Today/Gallup poll taken in December 2009. The poll found that his "favorable" rating fell to 33 percent in December from 85 percent in June 2005, and 88 percent in 2000, and his "unfavorable" rating climbed to 57 percent in December from 8 percent in 2005.

In this economic downturn, there is reason for boomers and seniors searching for jobs to feel optimistic. Contrary to widespread opinion and supported by research by such lofty agencies such as the Department of Labor, the American Council of Life Insurance and Andrus Gerontology Center, workers over 50 are:

1. More conscientious and harder working than younger workers
2. Likely to take less sick leave
3. More capable of evaluating decisions but are cautious and may take a while longer to come to a decision
4. Generally more perceptive, emotionally stable and motivated
5. Just as capable of learning
6. Technology challenged--true, but some focused education will help tremendously

In addition, most mature workers are no longer interested in "climbing the ladder." And many will sacrifice earnings for either a nice working environment or the gratification that goes with "making this a better world".

Here are some tips for boomers, seniors and retirees who want to increase their success at landing a job:

1. Earn money while exercising (dog-walking, gardening or walking guided tours) or watching television (house-sitting)

2. If you're hankering for more grandchild time but can't be with them, try a position in childcare.

3. Consider working from your home by checking out employment with answering services, home call centers handling airline and hotel reservations and roadside assistance, technical support, or medical billing.

4. Retailers hire people to ensure that displays and promotions are in order, the staff fully understands its products and services, and customer service is exemplary.

5. Check common online job listings in the classified section of your local newspaper and on ">http://www.craigslist.org/about/cities"> Craigslist and the http://www.rileyguide.com/ "> Riley Guide, an online job search.

6. Let your friends, acquaintances, family, classmates, and former employers and co-workers know that you're looking for work. You'll be surprised at how much they'll want to help you.

7. Expand your network by joining Twitter and Facebook.

8. Create a blog using free blogging services such as Wordpress, about your area of expertise. Blog">http://50somethinginfo.blogspot.com/">Blog about your expertise!

9. Use LinkedIn to find a job.

christmas tree 2009.jpgFinally,  I Got the Tree up,"  ! !

It took me all weekend, But I finally got my tree up, !

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink, I feel shame.

Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and
all of their hopes and dreams.

If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered.

    Then I say to myself,

"It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

      MERRY CHRISTMAS Everyone, !!

A little haha

Something to make you smile for today.... J

After getting all of Pope Benedict's luggage loaded into the limo, the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.
'Excuse me, Your Holiness,' says the driver, 'Would you please take your seat so we can leave?'
'Well, to tell you the truth,' says the Pope, 'they never let me drive at the Vatican when I was a cardinal, and I'd really like to drive today.'

'I'm sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that.  I'd lose my job! What if something should happen?' protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that morning....

'Who's going to tell?' says the Pope with a smile.

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel.
The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 kph... (Remember, the Pope is German..)

'Please slow down, Your Holiness!' pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.

'Oh, dear God, I'm going to lose my license -- and my job!' moans the driver.

The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the cop approaches, but the cop takes one look at him, goes back to his motorcycle, and gets on the radio.

'I need to talk to the Chief,' he says to the dispatcher.

The Chief gets on the radio and the cop tells him that he's stopped a limo going 205 kph.

'So bust him,' says the Chief.

'I don't think we want to do that, he's really important,' said the cop.

The Chief exclaimed,' All the more reason!'

'No, I mean really important,' said the cop with a bit of persistence..

The Chief then asked, 'Who do you have there, the mayor?'

    Cop: 'Bigger.'

    Chief: ' A senator?'

    Cop: 'Bigger.'

    Chief: 'The Prime Minister?'

    Cop: 'Bigger.'

'Well,' said the Chief, 'who is it?'

    Cop: 'I think it's God!'

The Chief is even more puzzled and curious, 'What makes you think it's God?'

Cop: 'His chauffeur is the Pope!'
Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humour out of life,
And pass it on to other folk.

TO SEE IS TO BELIEVE, DO YOU BELIEVE WHEN YOU SEE?

Recession is coming to town.

It's hitting you once,
It's hitting you t wi ce
It doesn't care if you've been careful and wi se
Recession is coming to town

It's worthless if you've got shares
It's worthless if you've got bonds
It's safe when you've got cash in hand
So keep cash for goodness sake, HEY

The Super Artist - Chalk Guy

Hey, buddies, boomers and guys,  the Street Artist's.....newest creations
Edgar Mueller Super Artist is back again
Great Crevase Edgar Mueller.  Hard work: Together with up to five assistants, Mueller painted all day long from sunrise to sunset.
The picture appeared on the East Pier in Dun Laoghaire , Ireland , as part of the town's Festival of World Cultures.
chalk guy 1.jpg
He spent five days, working 12 hours a day, to create the 250 square metre image of the crevasse, which, viewed from the correct angle, appears to be 3D. He then persuaded passers-by to complete the illusion by pretending the gaping hole was real.
'I wanted to play with positives and negatives to encourage people to think twice about everything they see,' he said.  'It was a very scary scene, but when people saw it they had great fun playing on it and pretending to fall into the earth.  'I like to think that later, when they returned home, they might reflect more on what a frightening scenario it was and say, "Wow, that was actually pretty scary."

chalk guy 2.jpg

Mueller, who has previously painted a giant waterfall in Canada , said he was inspired by the British 'Pavement  Picasso' Julian Beever, whose dramatic but more gentle 3D street images have featured in the Daily Mail.
This guy is amazing no matter how you look at it!

What's really interesting at the end is the real meaning of the 12 days of Christmas - I didn't know that...
christmas tree 1.jpg

The Capitol Christmas tree in Washington , D.C. , is decorated with 3,000
ornaments that are the handiwork of U.S. schoolchildren. Encircling
evergreens in the 'Pathway of Peace' represent the 50 U.S. states.
christmas tree 2.jpg

The world's largest Christmas tree display rises up the slopes
of Monte Ingino outside of Gubbio, in Italy 's Umbria region.
Composed of about 500 lights connected by 40,000 feet of wire,

the 'tree' is a modern marvel for an ancient city
christmas tree 3.jpg

A Christmas tree befitting Tokyo 's nighttime neon display is
projected onto the exterior of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka.
christmas tree 4.jpg

Illuminating the Gothic facades of Prague 's Old Town Square ,
and casting its glow over the manger display of the famous
Christmas market, is a grand tree cut in the Sumava mountains
        in the southern Czech Republic.
christmas tree 5.jpg

Venice 's Murano Island renowned throughout the world
for its quality glasswork is home to the tallest glass tree
in the world. Sculpted by master glass blower Simone
Cenedese, the artistic Christmas tree is a modern
        reflection of the holiday season.

Moscow celebrates Christmas according to the Russian Orthodox
calendar on Jan. 7. For weeks beforehand, the city is alive with
festivities in anticipation of Father Frost's arrival on his magical
        troika with the Snow Maiden.
He and his helper deliver gifts under
the New Year tree, or yolka, which is traditionally a fir.

The largest Christmas tree in Europe (more than 230 feet tall)
can be found in the Praça do Comércio in Lisbon , Portugal .
Thousands of lights adorn the tree, adding to the special
enchantment of the city during the holiday season.

'Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree': Even in its humblest attire,
aglow beside a tiny chapel in Germany 's Karwendel mountains,
a Christmas tree is a wondrous sight.

Ooh la la Galeries Lafayette! In Paris , even the Christmas trees are chic.
With its monumental, baroque dome, plus 10 stories of lights and
high fashion, it's no surprise this show-stopping department store draws
more visitors than the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower

In addition to the Vatican 's heavenly evergreen, St. Peter's Square
in Rome hosts a larger-than-life nativity scene in front of the obelisk.

The Christmas tree that greets revelers at the Puerta del Sol
is dressed for a party. Madrid 's two-week celebration makes
millionaires along with merrymakers. On Dec. 22, a lucky citizen

will win El Gordo (the fat one), the world's biggest lottery.

A token of gratitude for Britain 's aid during World War II,
the Christmas tree in London 's Trafalgar Square has been
the annual gift of the people of Norway since 1947.

Drink a glass of gluhwein from the holiday market at the Romer
Frankfurt's city hall since 1405 and enjoy a taste of Christmas past.

Against a backdrop of tall, shadowy firs, a rainbow trio of
Christmas trees lights up the night (location unknown).

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me.
What in the world do leaping lords, French hens,
swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out
of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

             This week, I found out.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were
not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone
during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning
plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each
element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality

        which the children could remember.

-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.

-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.

-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.

-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.

-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.

-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.

-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching,  Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.

-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness,  Faithfulness,

     Gentleness, and Self Control.

-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.

-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...so pass it on if you wish.'
Merry (Twelve Days of) Christmas Everyone
    CHRISTMAS AT ARLINGTON CEMETERY

I wonder why the press hasn't enlightened the public about it??

    Arlington National Cemetery

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.

Know the line has held, your job is done.

    Rest easy, sleep well.

Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.

    Peace, peace, and farewell...

Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths -- some 5,000 -- are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine . The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He's done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one the poorest parts of the state.

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks

This is the Year 2070

This article was published in the magazine "Crónicas de los Tiempos", in April 2002.

I have just turned 50, but I my appearance is of somebody of 85.

I suffer from serious kidney problems, because I do not drink enough water.

I'm afraid I do not have much time left to live.

I am one of the oldest people in this society.

I remember when I was a child of 5.

There were lots of trees in the parks, houses with beautiful gardens,

and I could enjoy having a shower for half an hour.

Everything was very different then.

Nowadays we use towels with mineral oil to clean our skin.

Before, women had beautiful hair.

Then, my father washed his car with water coming out of a hosepipe.

Now, my son does not believe that water could be wasted that way.

Now, we have to shave our heads to keep them clean without the use of water.

I remember there were

SAVE WATER

warnings on outside posters, radio and TV, but nobody paid attention.  We thought that water

was to last forever.

Now, all the rivers, lakes, dams and underground water beds are either dry or contaminated.

Industry came virtually to a standstill and unemployment

reached dramatic proportions.

Desalination plants are the main source of employment

and workers receive part of their salary in drinkable water.

Assaults at gun point on the streets for a jerrycan of water are very common.

Food is 80% synthetic.

Before, the recommended quantity of water to drink

for an adult was 8 glasses a day.

Nowadays, I am only allowed half a glass.

We now have to wear disposable clothing,

and this increases the amount of litter.

We are using now septic tanks,

because the sewerage system does not work for lack of water.

The outside appearance of the population is horrible: wrinkled, emaciated bodies, due to dehydration, full of sores caused by ultra violet radiation,

now stronger without the protective shield of the ozone layer.

Skin cancer, gastrointestinal infections and of the urinary tracts

are the main causes of death.

Due to the excessive drying of the skin young people of 20 look like 40.

Water cannot be produced, oxygen is also degraded due to the lack of trees and vegetation, and the intellectual capacity of the new generations is severely impaired.

Scientists investigate, but there's no solution to the problem.

The morphology of spermatozoa in many men has changed.

As a consequence, babies are born with deficiencies, mutations and physical deformities.

Government makes us pay for the air we breathe,

137 m3 per day per adult person.

People who cannot pay are expelled from the "ventilated zones", with huge mechanical lungs driven by solar power.

The air is not of good quality, but at least people can breathe.

The average life expectancy is 35 years.

In some countries, where there are still some green zones crossed by rivers, these are guarded by heavy armed soldiers.

Water became a very coveted treasure, more precious

than gold and diamonds.

Where I live, there are no trees, because it seldom rains.

When it happens to register some precipitation, it is of acid rain.

The seasons have been severely affected by the atomic tests and by contamination from the 20th century polluting industries.

We were warned to look after the environment, but nobody cared.

When my son asks me to talk about my youth, I tell him about the green fields,

the beauty of the flowers, the rain, how pleasant was to swim and fish in the rivers and dams, to drink all the water we could, and how healthy people was.

Then, I feel a lump in my throat!

He asks: Daddy! Why there is no water?

I cannot help feeling guilty, because

I belong to the generation who contributed to the destruction of the environment or simply did not take into account all the warning signs.

Now our children

pay a very high price!

I sincerely believe that within a short time life on earth will not be possible, as the destruction of nature reached now an irreversible stage.

How I would like to go back and make mankind understand...

...that we still had time to save our Planet Earth.

very talented person, named

A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks

Women's Restroom

Oh the pain!!!!!!

In a Chicago Hospital , a gentleman had made several attempts to get into the men's restroom, but it had always been occupied.

 A nurse noticed his predicament.

Sir, she said "You may use the ladies room if you promise not to touch any of the buttons on the wall....."

He did what he needed to, and as he sat there he noticed the buttons he had promised not to touch.

Each button was identified by letters: WW , WA , PP20 and a red one labeled ATR..

 Who would know if he touched them?   ;

He couldn't resist.. He pushed WW.... Warm water was sprayed gently upon his bottom.

What a nice feeling, he thought.

Men's restrooms don't have nice things like this.

Anticipating greater pleasure, he pushed the WA button. Warm air replaced the warm water, gently drying his underside.

When this stopped, he pushed the PP button. A large powder puff caressed his bottom adding a fragile scent of spring flower to this unbelievable pleasure. The ladies restroom was more than a restroom,

it is tender loving pleasure.

When the powder puff completed its pleasure, he couldn't wait to push the ATR button which he knew would be supreme ecstasy.

Next thing he knew he opened his eyes, he was in a hospital bed, and a nurse was staring down at him.

"What happened?" he exclaimed. "The last thing I remember was pushing the ATR button."

"The button ATR is an Automatic Tampon Remover. Your penis is under your pillow.."
